Valentines Day
"Wow! It's already mid-Fabuary! Time sure passess by quickly!" The fourteen year old said cheerfully as he walked into the lounge room.
"Especially when you're working a full twenty hours a day." Hikari added with a forced smile. She had also just entered. "You can't even tell when is day time and when is night time anymore. Your mental clock just breaks and you have to keep asking others what time it is because you can't look at a real clock or your phone's clock and-"
"Ka-chan, why don't you sit down and drink some tea." Van said, squeezing her shoulders and pushing her to sit on the couch.
She didn't object and drank from the cup he gave her. "Green tea. Nice."
Nagi and Van sighed in relief. They didn't want to go through another one of her stress talk. And it was definitely not going to be the first thing they'll hear her say in the morning. Kira sat quietly beside her and stared at the calendar. "Everyone has a day off today?"
"It's quite a coincidence considering what date it is." Eiji's voice came from the top of the stairs.
Hikari blinked. "Wait, what date is it?"
"Valentines Day of course!" Van said cheerfully.
Hikari froze and her cup nearly slipped from her hands. "It's... Valentines... Already?"
"Yes." Eiichi's voice came from the doorway, but his figure wasn't there. "Can someone please help?"
Yamato, who had been doing pushups, was the closest to the door and he peeked out. He found Eiichi pushing a pile of large boxes. He motioned Van to come with him and the three brought the boxes in together.
Nagi stared at the box with his name on it. "This... This is true heaven!" He had opened the box eargerly and beamed. "Look! I got even more candy than last year! This is amazing! I won't have to buy any more for at least three months!" Kira let out a small sigh in relief at that. At least his and the others' wallets would be saved.
Van opened his box and smiled. "Wow, I was expecting to get a lot, but I didn't think it'll be this much." He sweatdrop. "It may be a bit too much though..."
Eiichi plopped himself down on an arm chair beside Kira. "I spent about half an hour pushing those things from the lobby to here. You guys should at least thank me." He said tiredly. Neither of them heard him. They were too busy awing at the amount of treats they all got in total.
Yamato's box was slightly larger than the rest, because apparently someone wanted to give him energy drinks instead of treats. He didn't mind. In fact he was rather happy that he wouldn't get diabetes. Shion and Eiji both had flowers in theirs. Eiichi and Kira had lots, and they mean, lots of love cards.
Hikari sat there with her head down. Valentines day... What should I do for them? It's pretty late to be baking a surprise. And I can't exactly go out and buy something because I wouldn't have even known what I bought...
Eiichi, who had been cringing on his first card, tore his eyes away and darted them at Hikari. She was fidgetting rather badly, he noticed. Closing the box again, he stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You okay?"
Everyone froze and all of their attention went to their manager. Hikari let out a thin smile. "Yeah... I'm just thinking about what to do for you guys today. I want to do something fun, but-" She cut herself off with a yawn. "... I'm just so sleepy, I can't even think."
"Aww Hikari, you don't have to~" Nagi said as he tackled her into a hug. "We know you're tired. Just rest up!"
She hugged him back and nodded. "Thanks Nagi..." She kept cuddling him and eventually fell asleep.
Nagi frowned. "Oi, I didn't mean that you should rest on me. I'm not a pillow." When she didn't reply, he sighed and let himself get cuddled. And apparently Shion thought it was a good idea and he too joined in the cuddle fest, followed by Van shortly after. The other four stared at them for a while, before deciding they should just let them be.
However, Yamato noticed a certain brunette casting glances at them every once in a while. And he looked more than just a little jealous.
~~~~~
Hikari woke up with her arms around Nagi, her head on Shion's hair and her waist being held by Van. She tried to get up, but she didn't want to wake them so she stayed as she was.
"Having trouble, angel?"
Thank goodness there's someone here. "Hi Eiichi. And yeah, I am. Can you help please?"
He let out a smirk and pulled Van off of her, carefully so the elder male doesn't wake up. She relased Nagi and got up slowly from her seat, stretching the second she succeeded. "What time is it?" She asked. "I'm kinda hungry."
"Well the four of you slept through lunch so that's got to be why." He replied. "As for time, it's 2 pm. Want to go buy something?"
"I'm in the mood for teriyaki." She said with a smile.
"Teriyaki it is." He smiled and gave her a quick kiss. He led the way out and closed the door, not noticing the three different pairs of eyes watching them. When they couldn't hear their footsteps anymore, Nagi and Van jumped to their feet.
"I wasn't seeing things, right?!" Nagi yelled.
"He didn't just do that-" Van replied just as loud.
Shion, who stayed seated, nodded. "I think we have just seen what we were not supposed to see."
"We can't tell Kira." Nagi said.
"Or Yamato." Van said.
"Does Eiji know?" Shion said, lifting his head up.
The three of them went silent for a while. Then they dash out of the room, calling for Eiji like they lost a puppy.
~~~~~
The two had bought the teriyaki and she was eating while he's driving. When she was done, she hummed happily and there was a conviniently placed trash bin at...
"Eiichi, where are we?" She asked.
"Just a little quiet place I found a while back." He said, getting out of the car. "It's a small hill not too far from the dorms. But not so close that my father can spy on us. So talking about anything here is perfectly fine."
"Ah... This sounds like a good place to relax." She said, smiling broadly.
"Mhm." He nodded. He took her hand in his and led them to the top of the hill. "I like to come up here when I'm stressed out or something."
"So it's like your happy place?"
"Pretty much. We all have those. Eiji likes the garden, Kira likes playing the piano in the lounge room, Nagi has his own room filled with puzzle games, Yamato obviously stays at the gym, Van can easily adapt to anywhere and Shion stays in our closet."
"Why the closet?"
"Beats me. There was hardly enough space for me to move though."
"... You went in there before?"
"It uh... Sort of just happened that one time."
She chuckled. "Alright then~"
He scoffed at her. "And just what's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing~" She said in a sing-song voice.
Eiichi shook his head and a smirk began to replace his calm demanor. "You know... Earlier, you were hugging Nagi pretty tightly..."
Hikari's eyes went wide and she felt herself going slightly pale. When she does something to make him jealous, he definitely doesn't take it well.
"Not only that." He continued. "But you were snuggling Shion too... And Van got to hold you, just like this~" He wrapped his arms around her tightly. Almost too tightly, which made her flinch a bit.
His head bent down to her ear. "Hmm? You're not going to hug me back~?"
Her body tensed up, but slowly, her arms made their way around him. His smirk grew wider. This is what he wants. Complete possession over what's rightfully his. She knows this. And he knows that she had learned what the consequences of his anger were a long time ago.
She started shivering. He didn't move and just held her like that, his lips just barely touching her ear. He continued to mutter things out. "There was that time you shared breakfast with Van, I caught Shion staring at you several times, Nagi got clingy on you and he's hardly ever clingy to anyone but Kira. I think Yamato is starting to notice, but he's keeping silent." He began to stroke her hair. "And don't even get me started on Shinomiya. Out of all the STARISH members... He's the cling-iest of them all."
"Eiichi..." She started hesitantly.
He nodded and held her tighter. "I know. I just... worry sometimes."
That's what he's calling it this time... A small mask to hide his jealousy, when she already knows what it is. "Eii..."
He bent down until their forehead met. He smiled, though it wasn't genuine. "For the record, I was right. He does know."
Her head snapped up and she went eye to eye with him. "H-how? Since when?"
"Close to the start, I guess. As for how, I don't know." He replied, shrugging. "Perhaps it was obvious?"
"But... If it was, the rest of HEAVENS would have known by now, right?" She said uncertainly.
"You're right about that." He said, patting her head. "But remember, they just met you last month. But he knew you for quite a few years. Besides, it's only a matter of time before they found out anyway."
She blinked. "So... You're going to tell them?"
"No. It'll be more fun to watch as things slowly begin to unfold."
"You sound like the villain in a story book." She said with a chuckle.
"Well maybe... I am." He replied, pecking her lips.
Hikari smiled. He was back to his usual self. However, even with that, she still felt a bit uneasy around him. She had been around him for about a month now and she still wasn't used to his new attitude. Of course, three years would most definitely change someone, but how far? She wanted to ask, but she didn't want to make him any more upset. Especially not today.
Eiichi looked down at her troubled expression. Did he do something to hurt her? Well, he did do a few things to get her attention whenever they were alone, but she was smiling each time, so it probably wasn't that. He lifted her chin up and he felt her froze. He frowned, but said nothing. Instead he patted her head and led the way back to the car.
The ride home was almost too quiet for either to bare.
