Over The Top

"And Hyuga Yamato wins!" The MC yelled into the microphone.

"Yamato! You're awesome!"

"That was amazing!"

"Great job, Yamato!"

Cheers came from every direction as Yamato stepped down from the ring and right at the bottom of the steps, the press started surrounding him. After sarcastically answering all of their questions, he hurried to the lounge room, where no one besides the competators and their guests were allowed to be. He skidded to a stop before making the turn into the room. There, he found just who he was hoping for.

Hikari heard his footsteps and looked up at where she assumed he was supposed to be. "Yamato?"

"Yeah. It's me." He ruffled her hair with a smirk. "How did I do, manager?"

"The MC did great when he was commentating the fight. Though it sounded more like you were fighting and the other guy was running." She said with a chuckle.

"Now you believe me when I say there's no one here that can challenge me?" Ruffling her hair turned into a full blown noogie.

"I believe you! I believe you!" She said, laughing louder.

"How nice to see you both here." Both of them stopped.

Yamato immediately turned away and scoffed at the orange haired man. "What do you want?"

Hikari blinked. "Hyuga-san?"

Ryuya nodded. "Yes. It's me. How have you been doing, Sorano?"

She beamed. "Oh! I'm completely fine!"

"Good to know." The older male smiled. He then turned to his brother. "And you?"

He grunted, but answered none the less. "I'm. Fine."

Ryuya doesn't seem convinced, but he smiled. "You should still come home every once in a while. Touma and Makoto has been missing you a lot."

Yamato growled below his breath. "They'll just have to keep missing me then."

Hikari's head turned left and right at their exchange. She was pretty sure they were glaring at each other, but what could she do to solve this issue?

Ryuya was first to notice her unease and so he casually fixed his tie and bid them both goodbye. Yamato growled and pulled her to her feet. "Let's just go." And he proceeded to drag her into the car that's waiting for them.

Hikari sat by the window quietly. She didn't want to bother the male. He sounded irritated enough. She probably shouldn't ask anything on the matter either-

"Well? Aren't you gonna ask me about the whole sh*t?" He said impatiently.

Hikari turned towards him and blinked. "I thought it'd be rude if I asked, so I stayed quiet..."

"Well yeah, I'd be hella pissed if you asked, but the silence is even more annoying so just get it over with." He said with an irritated sigh. "The driver can't hear us when the soundproof glass is up, so go ahead. Whatever you want to know."

I know Eiichi told me about it before, but is everything soundproof in this company? She swallowed the sarcasm down before it can get out. "Well... Firstly, who are Touma and Makoto?"

"Brothers."

"So it's four in total?"

"Leave me out of it."

"Three then. Okay, well, if you don't mind me asking this, what happened between you and Hyuga-san?"

"... He's always at the top. From the start until now, he's always at the top. It's irritating just thinking about it."

Hikari looked at him with a confused face, but before she could stop herself, her mouth immediately formed the words for her. "Did your parents compare you to each other a lot?"

Yamato snapped and pulled her collar upwards. "Never. Mention it. Again."

Her eyes widen at the sudden change in his behavior and she vigorously nodded. He let her go and she turned silent again, hoping she wouldn't make him angrier. The rest of the ride was silent.

Nanami shifted in her seat. "Um... Hyuga-san..."

Needless to say, Yamato was still in a.. grumpy mood. To make it worse, Hikari was there too, and she was feeling even more uncomfortable.

There was about five minutes of silence until he spoke up again. "Something strong and powerful."

Nanami inwardly sighed in relief. At least he's still thinking about the song. "Something like Justice Impulse?"

"Something stronger. A song that no one can beat!" He said with growl. Then he stood up and left.

Both girls frowned, but not wanting to anger the male further, they decided to just work with this for now.

Hikari woke up just past 4 am. Her mental clock seemed to be getting worse. She sighed and got out of bed. Might as well do something productive until the sun rises... Eiichi would kill me for this...

She changed into a polo shirt and trainer pants, then headed out using slipper shoes.

She wandered around the building aimlessly. Then she heard the sound of metal hitting the floor and walked towards it. It led her to to the gym and she let out a yelp when another sound came from right beside her.

"Hey, who's up? It's my time to be awake. Not yours!" A familiar gruff voice resonated across the room.

Hikari let out a nervous smile. "Um... Hi."

Yamato sat up from the mat and looked up at her. "What the heck are you doing up so early?"

"Good morning to you too."

". . . Okay, no, seriously. What are you doing?"

"I woke up and I couldn't sleep anymore."

"Man, that's like the worst thing ever. Especially on the weekends."

"It's the weekends already?"

"Just how bad did your mental calendar get?"

"The clock already stopped working, don't go as far as the calendar."

"Damn..." He patted on the mat as a gesture to tell her to sit and she obeyed. After a bit of silence he sighed. "Sorry."

Hikari turned to him. "Hm?"

"About the... You know..." He scratched the back of his neck and sighed again. "It just pisses me off to think about those people. Since I was a kid it's always been 'Ryuya this' and 'Ryuya that'. 'Why can't you do it as good as Ryuya?', 'Ryuya can get a better score at this', 'Ryuya is a good kid', 'Ryuya bla bla bla'... Being overshadowed like that, it made me so damn angry." He growled. "And it's not just our parents. Touma and Makoto were way too clingy towards him. Touma keeps asking if he's okay and Makoto begs him to buy souvenirs every week!" He turned away. "Eventually, I got sick of it all and left. Still, every time I meet him, he keeps telling me to go back home. I DON'T NEED TO BE TOLD OVER AND OVER ABOUT HOW MUCH BETTER HE IS COMPARED TO ME!" His fist hit the floor with a loud thud.

"That's why you wanted to beat him so badly..." Hikari muttered.

Yamato nodded. "Since I'm an idol, I can do it in two ways. Either with my fists or my career. The thing is, whenever I prepare for the first one, that shrimp from STARISH keeps getting in the way. And as for the second option, there's no way that'll ever happen. 'Prince of Fighting' is something I doubt even STARISH could beat."

Hikari went into thought. "Yamato... Do you do things only to beat Ryuya?"

"Of course!"

"Then what about HEAVENS?"

He blinked. Well, he definitely haven't thought about it like that.

She smiled. "For your solo song, instead of using it to beat someone, why don't you sing it the way you want to?"

He cast a glance at her. "The way I want to, you say."

She nodded. "Right. Because if you do, I'm sure you'd be the only one who can sing it."

His eyes widen at that. Something only he could do and no one else could? Not even Ryuya? That's the first time he's heard that. The thought of that made him smirk. Oh how eager he was to sing right now.

Hikari smiled as he walked out of the recording room. "Yamato! That was amazing!"

He smirked. "You know, out of all the songs I've sang, this is the one I'm most proud of." His smirk turned into a smile as he ruffled her hair. "Also, I kinda thought about it and... Well, maybe I will go back. Some time later."

Hikari beamed. "Glad to hear. I'm sure everyone would be amazed by this song!"

He let the smirk crawl back to his face. "They'd better be!"

From a distance, an orange haired male was watching them. He smiled before walking off the oposite direction.
