I didn't see my Mother when I left the house this morning. Better yet the only times when I do see her she is yelling at me. I got put to see Ouma already waiting for me, he seemed energetic as usual.

"Hi Shumai!" He greeted, I nodded. Ouma looked at me for a bit, "was your Mom being a b*tch again?" He asked and I sighed. He could always read me like an open book.

"Just the usual...nothing to worry about" I assured, "that's a lie" Ouma told me seriously, "don't worry, I'm sure it's going to get better soon" I lied.

I don't even know who I was lying to at this point.

"Seriously Saihara Chan, you've known me your whole life and you still can't lie~" Ouma scolded, "hey..Ouma?" I asked and he turned around, "how was your day yesterday?" I asked.

"It was good~" he said, "but my beloved Saihara Chan never answered my texts!" He complained putting on fake crocodile tears. I looked down embarrassed knowing people were staring at us, "sorry Ouma...I was studying" I told him.

"But that's booooring" Ouma emphasized and even yawned a little at the thought. How has he managed to pass all these years, it's almost as confusing as how Yonaga passed...

"Earth to Saihara" Ouma called and I broke out of my train of thought. We had already arrived at school, oh...

"Saihara!" Momota called and I walked over, "the results from the latest exams are in! You're the top of our class! I knew my sidekick could do it!" He congratulated. My eyes widened in shock as they dragged me over to the notice board.

Exam Results- First Years

Shuichi Saihara- 99/100

Kaito Momota- 97/100

Kirumi Tojo- 96/100

Rantaro Amami- 94/100

Kokichi Ouma- 92/100

I looked over to Ouma in shock who grinned, "I knew most of the answers were C!" He exclaimed in a celebration of sorts. Ok that explains it...

Ouma was naturally smart, but when it came down to book smarts he was average. He only learned whatever interested him at the moment changing rapidly.

My heart still sunk though...99...that...that wasn't good enough...she's going to kill me when I get home...

I looked over at Momota, "what about the results for the whole school in general?" I asked and he pointed down the hall and I sprinted towards it looking at the board.

Exam Results- All Years

I scanned the board desperate...third. In the whole school I was only in third. I felt my knees shaking. She's going to murder me...Momota appeared from behind me excited "wow you're third in the school Saihara!" He congratulated. My heart felt heavy in my chest.

Maybe she'll have mercy? I'll just tell her I was the highest of my class..that isn't a lie technically she just doesn't need to know everything.

I looked around and noticed Ouma wasn't with us anymore, "hey Momota where did Ouma go?" I asked and he shrugged, "I didn't even realize he wasn't here...no wonder it was so quiet!" He exclaimed.

"But Saihara be honest with me do you have a crush on Ouma?" Momota asked and I felt my face heat up. Momota just laughed a little at my reaction nervously.

"So I guess I struck gold?" He asked and I nodded, "but you better not tell him! He'll hold it over my head for the rest of my life" I whispered with dread.

"Nah I won't do that, I just wanted to know" he promised, "still you do realize it's kind of the last semester before we graduate you might want to tell him" Momota encouraged. My face was probably like a tomato.

I started developing feelings for Ouma after he discovered how my Mother was and called her a f*cking b*tch and even wanted to give her a piece of his mind but I held him back.

Ever since then he's helped me out with my self esteem issues and I know now that he's the closest friend I have. I just wish he would let me do the same for him at times...

"I don't think I cam" I admitted and Momota looked disappointed, "well guess we can add that onto your training. Darn it though I was kinda hoping you didn't" Momota cursed.

"Why?" I asked.Momota sighed, "Now I owe Shirogane twenty bucks" he cursed.
