Chapter 4

Hiccup's P.O.V.

I walked into the hut to see (y/n) leaning on the wall. I took a step forward to take her mask off but she held up her hand to stop me. "The Gothi lady told me to try and exercise it, I haven't left the hut; you can't take off my facial protection," she says, making me pause as she put her hands to her mask to hold it to her face.

"How long have you been up and about?" I ask.

"Um..." she trailed off in thought.

"Mm-hm," I hum before pointing at the bed. She sighs before inching toward it. I shot forward, as she almost fell over, and took some of her weight.

"Ugh, I hate broken bones! Unless they're on someone else," she groaned as she sat down, "I can't even walk without help and even worse I have to get help from a human!"

"Who do you usually get help from?" I ask.

"(d/n), duh," she says.

"You two have only ever had each other, huh?" I say.

"When'd you guess?" she asks sarcastically.

"What's your dragon been through in terms of humans?" I ask.

"A lot of stuff. Why?"

"Because when I offered her a fish, she refused to eat it," I tell her.

"Well that was probably because she isn't used to having food brought to her," (y/n) said thoughtfully, holding her chin. "But then again, I'd think she'd be smarter than wanting to hunt when she has a fever. Were any of her marks...um..." she trailed off.

"Glowing?" I offer and she looks at me in horror. "Don't worry. I'm not going to tell anyone. And yes, one did."

"What did it look like?" she asks.

"A dragon circling a ship of some sort," I tell her.

"Hm...did you notice any of the others?" she asks.

"No," I say.

"Then maybe she was waiting for me to eat..." she trailed off in thought.

"What?" I ask.

"Every night, after our evening hunt, she waits for me to eat my fill. She knows she can go longer without food and our resources are often scarce," she explains.

"Does she do that even when you're not around?" I ask.

"As long as there is someone in the room. Was she growling a lot?" she asks.

"Only every time I tried to give her the fish," I say.

"Did you have a weapon on you?" she asks.

"Just Inferno," I say, taking the sword from my leg and igniting it. The flame shimmered in her eyes, just visible through the holes of her mask, before I put it away.

"That's an interesting gadget," she comments before adding, "It was a trust thing then. She'll eat it when she gets hungry."

"Do you ever take that mask off?" I ask.

"Why do you care?" she questions.

"Because I'm wondering what you're trying so hard to hide," I say.

"Ugh! Why won't you heal!" she shouts at her leg, skirting my conversation topic.

"What's the normal behavior of (d/n)?" I ask, "Does she like to fight and cause trouble?"

"Only if I'm in danger or something. For the most part she's pretty mellow..."

(d/n)'s P.O.V.

"AH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!" I laughed as the herbs made my mind looped.

"You should probably lay down!" Toothless said as I pranced around the cave, literally bouncing off the walls.

"Why?! This is fun!" I huff as I hang from the ceiling.

"Whoa! Calm down!" he snaps as I jump to the wall and then the floor.

"Hehehe!" I giggled, "Oh! I wonder where (y/n) is. Feel like I can fly across the Archipelago in one flap!" I crouched to the ground and started to flap my wings. Suddenly, Toothless stood on my left wing before stretching his body across my back and pinning my right wing down as well. "Hey...!" I whine, "No fair! Get off my wings!"

"Not until you promise to curl into that corner, over there, and sleep this off," he hisses.

"You're the one who made me eat the rotten fish," I grumble.

"It was medicine," he argues.

"It was bitter POISON!" I cried.

"It was supposed to put you to sleep, so the fever could leave your system, and you're fighting it. If you keep resisting it, you'll only get worse," he says.

"I, want, toFLY," I screech.

"And you will. When your fever's gone," he says. I huff smoke through my nose before going limp.

"I will kill you when you get off my wings," I growl.

"Then I guess I won't be able to get off," he hummed jokingly, his voice sounding close to my ear. My eyes started to get a little heavy, but they immediately popped open.

"Wait, what am I doing? I can't sleep," I say, trying to stand up. Toothless puts a paw between my shoulders.

"Ah, ah, get down," he says as he applies pressure.

"No!" I snap firmly, "I have to get her food."

"Hiccup will make sure she's fed," he tells me.

"No, I have to do it myself!" I say.

"Why?" he asks.

"Because, she won't eat otherwise!" I roar.

"What?" his voice was laced with confusion.

"I have to at least lick her food," I say, growing tired.

"Shh, just relax," he hisses softly, "She'll be fine with Hiccup watching over her."

(y/n)'s P.O.V.

"What are you doing?" Hiccup asked as I hit my head on the wall.

"Trying to kill boredom until my leg's healed," I tell him.

"Well, why don't we talk? Tell me about yourself," he says.

"I'm wanted by the Outcasts," I tell him dumbly.

"Well duh. Where's your family? Are there more of you? Where did you meet (d/n)?" he asks.

"My family is hopefully dead, there are two more, and confidential," I tell him.

"Why do you hope your family is dead?" he asks.

"Because they hope I'm dead so I'm returning the favor," I answer.

"Why do they hope you're dead?" he asks.

"I ride a freaking Stained Snowfury. Why do you think?" I ask.

"Where are the other two?" he asks.

"Con-fidential," I say in a sing-song voice.

"Why is where you met (d/n) confidential?" he asks.

"Because if I tell you, you'll go and most likely drive them away," I tell him.

"We're friends to dragons here, in case you haven't noticed," he says.

"I'm being irritable on purpose, in case you haven't noticed," I counter before he looked at me with a blank stare.
