❆ PROLOGUE

A raven flies into the moonlight

The cold snow storm

He knows the message has to arrive

The kingdom will burn to the ground

The witches and demons have come to deny,

The beauty and peace of our homeland,

We know the message has to arrive and

The King of the North will rise.

Sylvia Skywatcher could not sleep.

She knew she should be tried after visiting three villages in a day. After all, using her magic to help and heal was rather exhausting. And yet when she hurried back to her cosy little cottage under the warm twilight sky, she felt strangely awake. There could only be one reason - the Magic was calling her. Something important was about to happen and Sylvia, with her premonition powers, could be the first one to know.

So the girl made herself a nice cup of tea and climbed up her roof. Her chestnut hair fluttered in the breeze as she sent her sights on the night sky. When she looked north, she could distantly see a fog that stretched across the horizon. It was the permanent blizzard that surrounded the borders of the Northern Kingdom.

Sylvia sighed. It had been twenty four years since that wicked witch had taken over the kingdom. She dearly wished she could free them from the Snow Queen's dictatorial rule, but alas, she was just your average fairy with occasional glimpses of the future. Besides, the Snow Queen was a witch, and Sylvia hated witches. Just the mention of one sent shivers down her spine.

Sylvia cautiously unfolded her star chart and set up her brass telescope. Quill in one hand, she peered up at the velvety night sky. Its bright stars blinked down at her, as if inviting her to uncover secrets only they knew. Magic trickled from the stars and buzzed in the air, forming shapes and creating music only few could understand. The faint twinkle of the stars was reflected in Sylvia's sea blue eyes as she gazed and gazed, waiting for the sky to communicate with her-

Her hand moved, scribbling furiously on a piece of parchment. Sylvia, transfixed by the messages she was receiving, could hardly breathe. She didn't fully understand what was about to happen, but she knew it was world-changing. And somehow, she had a role to play in this world-changing event. Sylvia had been chosen as the messenger.

After hours of observation and calculations, Sylvia managed to decipher the Magic's message. There were three images she'd seen - a daffodil, a crown, and curiously enough, a raven. The daffodil was the most important symbol, and combined with the crown, Sylvia had an inkling of what was about to happen.

But there was the raven.

It was small, tucked between the cheerfully yellow daffodil and the bright crown, but noticeable. Sylvia knew she wasn't the only messenger - the raven was someone else's symbol.

Sylvia finally tore her eyes from the sky and brought her hands to her lips. She whispered a spell and bright blue smoke bellowed from her hands. The smoke twisted into the air, flew towards the east, and vanished. She smiled serenely.

I guess it's time to pay a visit to an old friend.

A/N: Prologue is UP! I'll post the aesthetics later when everyone has them ready UwU

I won't be introducing all the characters in one go, and it doesn't mean anything if your character appears later :D

I've PMed quite a lot of you about the ships, note that they are subject to change because the more I write them, the more I'll know about the characters' chemistry (or lack of it). If you've read False Obsession Turned Real, my annoyingly slowburn romcom fic, you'll know how Fredlex popped out of literally nowhere.

Please comment and vote! :D This fic feels like a community fic because everyone's characters are involved :D and you guys will be what pushes me to write!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for Chapter One! XD
