Naruto walked through a small canyon, rain poured down as he and his team stopped to see where they were heading. He walked forward as he turned his head up to the pouring grey sky.

Sasuke left, and I vowed to Sakura that I will bring him back, battle after battle I've been getting close, and he's always within reach, why is it that every time I try to grab him he moves a little farther away from me?

It's not fair is it? The nine tailed fox spoke inside of Naruto's head, as Naruto walked along side his assigned team where they were following a lead to which they might find Sasuke.

"No it's not." Naruto says under his breath.

"Did you say something Naruto-kun?" A ninja asked as the other two turned towards his direction.

"Nothing." Naruto said with a reassuring bright smile towards his temporary team.

"Is your hand ok?" The other jounin asked in concern, a mile ago they had been attacked and for some reason Naruto was distracted and was slashed at his upper arm.

"It's fine." He simply said as he felt his numb arm drip blood from his finger tips, where the blood had been falling for a while now.

You've been chasing your dear friend for over four years now, and every time you meet he turns his back. Kurama mentions with a snicker.

"He has his reasons." Naruto tried to reason with the old fox.

"We'll set up camp in this cave, let the rain pass us and return to our path tomorrow morning." The team captain said as they all huddled into the cave one had spotted further ahead. "Naruto-kun?"

"Just a sec, I'll scout the area you go on ahead and set everything up." Naruto said as he flashed away and appeared by a pond, the rain pouring down on him.

Maybe, but he could have told them to you so you won't have to be worrying like a fool. Kurama mused as he felt Naruto flinch. Maybe you should take me up in that offer I suggested.

"Offer?" Naruto said dazed, the cut in his arm worsening.

Far away, Sasuke felt Naruto's chakra, and like always he new Naruto wouldn't be able to sense him so he went to give a little peak. He stood on top of a tree branch as he watched the blond. He was standing motionless, his face without the smile he always loved to see. His eyes were dead and his hand was bleeding profoundly now. He wanted to go over the Naruto and see what was wrong, but he can't. He needed to wait another three years to become stronger and kill his brother, afterwards return and take his hand in marriage. But right now it looked like Naruto was going to leave his grasp at any moment now.

What happened to him? Shouldn't he be in Konoha for the upcoming chunin exams that the younger generation are going to participate in? He was sure that Naruto had taken it upon himself to tag along with this team because he had accidentally shown his face to someone with Intel and Konoha backing. He was about to bolt away when he was startled by the feeling of his sweet blond.

Sasuke felt worried now, Naruto shouldn't be holding those empty eyes. The eyes that he was too familiar with, ever since leaving the village hidden in the leafs. He would have never imagined that Naruto would hold them.

The offer of me taking your pain away. Kurama chimes as his red eyes flashed across Naruto's, now dark blue orbs.

"Take my pain away?" Naruto's eyes seemed to hold a bit of desperation.

All of it, from the villager's hateful stares to the way your so called friends walk cautiously around you ever since finding out I'm inside you. From the little Uchiha that seems oblivious of your feelings. I can take it all away.

"What do I do to take the pain away?" Naruto said as his eyes slightly closed.

Give me free reign of your body, by the time I give it back, everything will be gone.

"Even Sasuke?" Naruto asked with a hopeful pair of wide eyes.

Sasuke stood to the side, trying to make out what Naruto was trying to say. Or who he was talking to. He had never thought that his disappearance would lead the Uzumaki to insanity. But it didn't seem so for some reason, Naruto legitimately looked as if he was speaking to someone who was inside his head, or someone right next to him.

And what did he mean by even him? What was going on.

Even the precious last survivor, come now Naruto, take a rest from this world, a world where only blood and hatred is shed to reap the world of ugly and see it become peaceful. Kurama had a clawed paw on the iron bars against the cage.

"You'll give me back control when everything is peaceful, back to the way they were?" Naruto asked out loud again.

Yes.

"Then... Make sure no one gets hurt, make sure that you take care of my friends Kurama. Bring back Sasuke for me, since I'm not enough to bring him back. Be cautious around other ninja. Don't get too close or they'll suspect." Naruto gave strict orders while the kyuubi simply listened not denying or accepting the rules. It was a law to their kind that one must never break a promise. "I have good hopes for you Kurama, when I come back, will my pain cease to exist?"

It should.

"Okay. You can take over-" as he finished he didn't even have the time to say his farewells when a huge amount of boiling heat errupted through his stomach and coursed all over his body.

He screamed in agony.

That was when Sasuke reacted, he couldn't stand by anymore and watch as Naruto was in pain. Whoever this Kurama was, he was the culprit. He knew it.

"Naruto!" He shouted after the blond who was clutching his stomach, his hands moved towards his head as his eyes shut tightly.

Sasuke reached in time before Naruto could fall for he floor, even though as the rain fell and the temperature dropped, the blond's body felt as if he was touching a furnace. And the usual reaction would happen when touching something hot. He hissed in pain as he let go of Naruto and saw that Naruto was no longer clutching his head.

His hands were to his side as his head was slightly bowed. His eyes were still closed, but not for long. He raised his head and his eyes opened up slowly and blissful.

The last Uchiha was expecting to see the usual beautiful blue eyes, but instead, the blue eyes were replaced with blood red ones that seem to glow during this rainy night. The whiskers were darker than normal and his nails grew sharper and longer.

"Naruto?" Sasuke cautiously spoke up with worry.

"The Uchiha brat." The voice of the Uzumaki was different, instead of the usual raspy, his voice held a deep tune to it that was layered with a demonic tone.

"You're not Naruto, who are you." Sasuke demanded as he unsheathed his katana and took up a battle stance.

"Smart one aren't you Uchiha, even so you aren't Itachi smart. I'm the so called kyuubi that everyone fears." Kurama said as his psychotic smile grew.

"What do you want."

"I'm going to get rid of little Naruto's pain. I promised him so. And getting rid of it is to kill everyone who dares to harm him in any way. You should know, if Naruto dies, I die. It's only my responsibility to keep harm far away from my jinchuiriki."

"Pain, what do you mean?" Sasuke was now confused.

"You should know full well little Uchiha, you're the main cause of it. Leaving him to the horrid villagers all by himself, taking in the horrible names and the poundings that they lashed at him for even existing in the same place as they are in. Continuing to leave farther and farther away from him."

Sasuke flinched at the information. Naruto was being beaten by the villager's, why didn't he protect himself?

"I know what you're thinking Sasuke, why didn't he protect himself? It's mainly because if he raised a hand to his attackers he will be seen as me taking over and soon be executed. His world isn't all clouds and rainbows like yours, everything always getting served in a platter for you." Kurama turned and was about to disappear when Sasuke stopped him.

"Give him back, please. I'll return to the village just-"

"Your chances have all been used up. I'll bring him back when I've killed all his pain, of course, I'll kill you in the end, until then goodbye Uchiha."

Before Sasuke could call out, Kurama was gone in a flash. There was nothing but the sound of rain hitting the ground, loud and ominous.
