Kai face-planted into the snow.

The master of fire groaned and a plethora of snickers wafted around his head. Kai struggled to get up as a cold spray of snow hit him in the face. He glared at the teammate who had skidded to a stop before him, a cheeky grin on the freckled-faced boy.

"Shut up, I'm still rusty!" Kai whined, using his poles to wobble his way back into a standing position.

Cole popped up his goggles, raising an eyebrow as his friend's skis slipped from underneath him while he tried to get up. Jay exchanged an amused glance with the ravenette before he pushed up his jacket sleeve to look at his watch.

"We have five minutes to meet with the others," Jay told them. "Nya said they'd meet us at the bunny hill."

"We can take Wishmasters and then cut into Ghost Town." Cole helped steady Kai before they turned to look down the rest of the hill.

He and Jay have gone skiing multiple times while Kai had only been few. The obvious difference in their skill level was irritating but Kai knew he would still be able to go faster than Jay on certain slopes. Due to their difference in size, Jay had trouble going as fast as the others on flatter runs.

Kai smirked as they made it to the flat stretch of the trail. He glanced at his friend who had bent into a racer's tuck in an attempt to keep his speed. "See ya, sucker!" Kai called as he passed Jay. The boy glanced up and began furiously trying to skate with his skis. Cole snickered, planting his foot and pushing off to get his snowboard moving as Jay began to get smaller and smaller behind them.

"IT'S BECAUSE YOU WEIGH MORE, CAKE-BUTTS!" Jay shouted after them.

"I'm heavier because of my muscle mass," Cole told Kai as they lazily let gravity bring them to the base of the bunny hill.

"You eat way more than me." Kai retorted. "Don't pin this on your exercise routine."

Jay came huffing beside them, waddling up the small slope. "Are they here?"

"They're heading down the hill now." Kai motioned to the distinct green shape snow-plowing its way down the tiny slope.

Nya and Zane had stayed behind with Lloyd. Though Zane was also a beginner he had picked up the sport fairly quickly, like the annoying nindroid he was and decided to help Nya and Lloyd work more on their skiing before they all joined together again.

"I did it!" Lloyd cheered, raising his arms in celebration. The sudden motion caused him to almost knock Jay over with his poles.

"I still can't believe you've never skied before," Kai commented as he began to shuffle towards the lift.

Lloyd narrowed his eyes at him. "Between being abandoned as a child, releasing the serpentine, becoming the green ninja, and saving the world a couple of times, you would think I'd have more time to learn how to ski," Lloyd replied sarcastically.

Kai chuckled uncomfortably. "Well... now I believe it."

Nya rolled her eyes and carefully pointed her tips together to make a "pizza" stop at the lift line. "I'll ask the people at the lift to slow it down for us." She said to the group as they made it to the front.

Lloyd shuffled warily to the line and waited for the chair to pass. Cole gave him a push and Lloyd dug his poles into the snow, trying to slide as quickly as possible before the chair. The green ninja held his breath when it came up behind him, knocking him in the back of his knees and sending him flying back into it. Kai and Jay laughed as Lloyd struggled to sit up.

Zane waited until everyone was ready before he pulled down the safety bar. Lloyd peered over it, his eyes widening as they rose higher into the air.

"Where do you guys want to go?" Nya questioned, pulling out her trail map. "There's a whole bunch of hills on the other side of the mountain we should go to. If we start at Dragon Tail we can work our way up to-"

"You gotta learn how to live and let loose, sis! No more plans! Just winging it!" Kai cheered, yanking the map from her and dropping it off the side of the chair. The wind whipped it away until it plastered itself to a skier's face and they face-planted in the snow. Kai winced as Nya turned and scowled at him.

Lloyd leaned cautiously over the safety bar. It was a little tricky because he kept his back pinned to the seat. "Wow," Lloyd swallowed hard. "Uh, we are really high up."

Jay gave him a funny look. "Since when are you scared of heights?"

"I'm not scared of heights!" Lloyd said defensively.

Kai raised an eyebrow. "Sure dude."

Lloyd squinted at him, his eyes blinking quickly from the cold wind flying in his eyes. Cole nudged Lloyd for his attention when he saw the drop-off coming up, readying his board as Kai lifted the bar.

"Tips up!" Jay ordered, exaggerating the action with his skis as they made it to the landing. Lloyd sucked in his breath, hesitating a moment too long and forcing Kai to shove him off the lift. Lloyd yelled as his skis did their thing and directed him to the area at the top of the hill.

Nya stood at the edge of the first trail, her tongue sticking out a little as she pointed with her mittens to the various runs, trying to plot out the perfect combination to the bottom. Kai on the other hand had a different approach. Lloyd was shuffling along beside Nya when Kai let out a whoop and whipped past, accidentally knocking the younger boy down the hill.

Lloyd screamed and Nya's mouth dropped as she watched them both hurtle along the run. "KAI!" Nya's tone was more annoyed than scared as she took off after them. Cole exchanged a look with Jay and he shrugged before the rest of the team followed.

Zane skied swiftly, his body moving like it was made for the sport as he wove in perfect turns. Kai was more sporadic, quick but chaotic as he laughed, an almost crazy gleam in his eye. Nya was calculating, less confident on her skis than the others but she wasn't bad, planting her poles carefully and moving with grace. Cole was the only one on the snowboard and he stuck near Nya to keep an eye on her, making nice arcs with his turns. Lloyd, however, was struggling, his arms flailing as he spun and bounced down the slope.

Nya's eyes widened as she focused on the sign on the next trail. Kai was leading them straight down a double black diamond! "Kai! Wait- Lloyd's not ready for-"

Lloyd went crashing past the sign. Cole cursed as Jay and Zane followed. Nya grumbled under her breath, adjusting her goggles as she turned her skis to the run. "Of course he'd go down the hardest one." She muttered as she slowly made her way around the large bumps that dotted the run. Cole moved easily along the moguls, keeping his eyes on his friends up ahead. He hoped Zane would be able to keep an eye on them.

Zane's computer was going haywire as it tried to track Kai and Lloyd down the hill. Unfortunately, the snow and other skiers made it harder for his lens to pinpoint where they were going. He huffed, turning his head to make sure Jay was still beside him. He was surprised to see the usually impulsive boy was going rather carefully down the hill.

Thank goodness. Zane rolled his eyes as he looked at the green and red blurs up ahead. So far they weren't doing too badly. Maybe everything would be oka-

"AW FUDGE!"

The little red blur went tumbling face-first into the ground.

NOTE*****

Okay well, this may have taken much longer than it should have. In all honesty, I forgot this was a thing I was going to do.

Yes.

The activity I made.

Don't judge me. 😂

Thank you for the fun prompt Jade! I really enjoyed doing it! I have been wanting to do a skiing one-shot for a while and now I finally have a good excuse to make one!

Here's a fun story about skiing! When I was little my dad took my down a double black diamond. I was so mad at him for taking me down because it was steep and full of moguls. I cried a bit and when I got to the bottom my sister tried to cheer me up. Apparently he did the same initiation ritual to her. She said something along the lines of. "You did good! When I took that run I cried the whole way down!" I'm still a little salty that my dad took me down there but I'm a pretty experienced skier and I enjoy doing it with him. It's actually my favourite sport!

If you're interested in participating in fun activities with fun people you should consider joining our clan! The_Cozy_Clan is an amazing group where you can meet kind, kinda crazy, but sweet friends in a safe environment! I'm the head of this beanie bunch so if you have any questions feel free to comment or pm! More information is on the group account made by the amazing Mello-Walker and in the book Cozy Clan 101 also on our group account.

Thank you for reading! Sorry it's a little short. I had to force motivation to work today.

Skiing vocabulary!

Ski gear- head wear is a helmet (stay safe kids) and eyewear are ski goggles. They're helpful so you don't get wind and snow in your eyeballs. Gloves or mittens both work for skiing. (My dad likes gloves but my little wee hands can't handle the cold without some paws.)

Bunny Hill - The small hill used for young children or beginner skiers to practice on before they try the real slopes!

Racer's Tuck - used to go faster down the hill! Or by me and Jay to get us through the flat runs-

Skating - angling your skis so you can push off when your stopped or on a flat area of snow. It gets you moving when the hill isn't steep enough.

Snow Plowing - doing "the pizza" all the way down the hill.

The Pizza - a beginner's method of stopping where you angle your skis in an upside down 'V'.

Ski Lift - this thing

It's how you get up to the top of the mountain

Ski Run - synonym is ski trail. The various ways you can go down a mountain.

Pole planting - you stick your ski pole in the snow (not too deep or you'll lose it) and then turn around it.

Double black diamond - trails are ranked to show what's the easiest and what's the hardest. Easiest is green circle, in the middle is blue square, then black diamond, and the most difficult is double black diamond. It also depends on the quality of ski hill. A black diamond run at a small local ski hill is way easier than a black diamond at the mountains in Switzerland.

Moguls - small hills made along the trail to make it harder to ski and challenge you to turn around the mogul.
