Age 4

          "Hey Mommy! Why is there a dinosaur on my hand?" Zak asks. His mom smiles and sits down.

          "Well honey, this is a good story. It will take a while, but just don't stop listening. You got that? Because I don't know if I can explain it twice." Zak grins, and nods his head rapidly. 

          "Got it Mommy! So what is the story?"  

          "Well Zak, everyone has a soulmate-"

          "What's a soulmate?"

          "Well Zak, me and your dad are soulmates. It's two people that are made for eachother." Zak thinks, then a wide smile spreads across his face, and he completely lights up.

          "Are soulmates two people that get married?" Zak's mom smiles.

          "Yes honey! That's exactly it!"

          "Like Cinderella and the Prince?" Zak's twin sister Jane asks.

          "Yes! Exactly! Now, I'm going to continue my story, and I don't want anymore interruptions, you got it?" Zak and Jane both nod. "Ok. Well, everyone has a soulmate. And when one soulmate draw on their arm, it shows up on the other soulmates arm. But, their are some rules on what you are not aloud to do until you are eighteen. And until then, you can not do ANY of these things. Do you understand me?" Their mom asks. The twins nod furiously. "Ok. Well, you can't tel, them anything about yourself. You can't tell them how old you are, if you're a boy or a girl, your name, anything about where you live, or your family. Now I think you two, since you are twins, might be allowed to tell your soulmates that you have a twin. If you want to do that, you need to ask one of those guards out there, you understand?" Their mother asks again, pointing at one of the five town guards. The twins nod again, excited for when they could meet their soulmate.

Age 7

          Zak and Jane were playing ball in their backyard, when Zak got an idea. "Let's go ask one of those officers if we can tell out soulmates that we are twins!" Zak suggests, and Jane starts jumping up and down.

           "Yes! Yes! Yes!" She shouts. Zak grabs her hand and drags her to one of the officers that make sure no one gives any banned information away. "Excuse me mister officer, but can we tell out soulmates that we are twins?" Jane asks, and Zak gives a pleading look.

          "Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" Zak asks, and the officer smiles.

          "Of course! You're always aloud to tell them that, but it is recommended you ask one of us to help you, just to make sure you don't do anything you aren't supposed to while you do." He says, and Zak puts up his right hand, Jane giving him a high five immediately. 

          After about 10 minutes of deciding how they wanted to tell their soulmates, they both decided on 'I have a twin!', and the Officer smiler and congratulated the twins.

Age 11

          "I'm tired of waiting! I want to meet my soulmate!" Zak said. He was on one of his usual rants about having waited seven years and about how  he didn't think he could survive waiting seven more. Jane was, as usual, nodding along. It wasn't that she didn't care, because she did, a lot, but she just didn't think about it the same way as her brother. Zak thought of it as a right, something they shouldn't be allowed to take away from them, but Jane thought of it more as a reward. A reward for waiting until you were allowed to tell them about yourself. "Are you even listening to me?" Zak asked.

          "Yes?" Jane gulped. This was the first time she had ever ignored her brother's rants.  How did he already realize? Zak groaned, and grabbed his sister's hand, pulling her with him. "Where are we going?" Jane asked.

          "To ask Vincent's dad something." Zak said. The twins and the officer who had helped them reveal they were twins kept in touch, mostly the officer and Zak though, because he was his best friend's, other than Jane of course, or Vincent's, father. Jane just groaned and walked with him. Zak knocked on the door, and Vincent's father was confused, because Zak knew Vincent was staying at his mother's house for a week, because she had begged to see him. "What would happen if someone broke the soulmate law?" Zak asked.

          "Well Zak, the punishment for breaking the soulmate law is death. For both soulmates." And after that, Zak never complained about having to wait to meet his soulmate for a very long time.
