i walked into my 5th period and sat down at my assigned seat. luke sat next to me and gave me a weird look.

"i know what you're thinking, we're just friends." i told luke and he just rose a brow before starting his work.

after class i drove down to the coffee shop on the other side of town.

as i was ordering i felt an arm wrap around my shoulders.

"hey." i smiled up at troy who was now ordering his food with mine. "i swear if you pay for my food i will hurt you." i told him but he handed the lady his card anyway.

i hit him with my backpack and he whined.

"you're so cute together." the lady behind the counter said, i blushed and troy smiled.

"we're not-" "here's your muffins and coffees." she said and i grabbed my stuff.

i walked to a booth in the back and troy sat with me.

"are you following me now?" i joked and he rolled his eyes.

"i come here all the time after a stressful day at school." he told me, i frowned.

"what happened?" i asked, he just shrugged.

"its fine, nothing important." he mumbled, taking a bite from the muffin.

"you sure?" i asked and he nodded. i looked at his knuckles and saw that they were bruised and a small bandage covered one of them. "what happened?" i asked, taking his hand in mine, he pulled away.

"n-nothing, its fine, baby." he said, not acknowledging what he had called me.

"promise?" i asked him.

"yes." he responded, looking down at his hand.

"did you just lie to me?" i asked him, a frown on my face.

"yes." he mumbled.

"are you gonna tell me what happened?" i asked, taking a sip of my hot coffee.

"no." he answered, still not looking up at me.

"ugh, fine." i muttered.

we didnt talk much after that, just made awkward small talk.

when i went home my phone started to blow up with notifications from twitter and instagram. even texts from carter who seemed to be freaking out.
