Skate's up Part two: The skating tournament
Scene cuts to Scooter arriving home at a place in a forest close to town, opening the door with a free spirited look.
"I'm home!" Scooter announced in a free spirited tone, and his dad, who appeared to be an adult version of his breed, turned from his chair and looks at him.
"Welcome home champ."
"Thanks dad; it's been a day." Scooter said as he walks up to his dad. "Skate had this crazy course for me to do and I got through all of it without a sweat."
"That sure is something." Scooter's dad wasn't too fond of skaters, but he tried his best to support his son. "Congrats."
Scooter gave a thumbs up and a smile, enlightening his father. Even if he looked back at his work, with Scooter noticing his worried look, hoping everything was okay. "You okay dad? You look like someone died."
"Not funny." Scooter's dad deadpanned with cynicism.
"I'm serious dad; you've been like this ever since I took up skating and I never knew why." Scooter complained with worry and confusion; and Scooter's dad just sighed as he continued his work, with Scooter rolling his eyes. "Eric Drikaski, you are a card."
Scooter walked off with Eric turning to him with sincerity. "It's just that I don't like this skating hobby of yours. (Scooter stops) If you go too far with this then you could turn into a thug."
"And why would I do that?" Scooter asked, slightly offended, but tried to keep his cool.
Eric looked back on an event in his past, hating what he's turned into. "Look Scooter. I'm a depressed accountant, who had a really troubled past, and now I feel too close minded to connect with you or your brother." Eric hated that he couldn't spend time with his sons, and not just because he said so. There were...other reasons. "And let's not forget about when your mother left."
Scooter thought for a moment, not remembering about his mother leaving. It gave him a sense of mystery. "I must've not been there."
"Well you weren't." Eric admitted. "It was right after Trip was born; she considered herself too dangerous."
"Is it that or the last story you told me?" Scooter asked.
Eric flinched and knew that he can't lie to his son forever. "Just know I just want to protect you Scooter. Please reconsider this as a career."
Scooter gained a sorrow look, and a just as sorrow tone; not knowing what he wanted for a career choice. "I don't know WHAT I wanna be." Scooter walked off, with Eric feeling regret as he went back to his work.
Scene cuts to black with a small drill suddenly going into it, revealing that it was some kind of dirt cube.
A young wolf about the same breed as Scooter, but seeming to be a bit younger, was seen smiling as he searched through the dirt cube. When he thought he found something, The wolf took his drill out of the dirt and looked into it wondering what could be in there. Scooter then entered the room, which caught the wolf's attention, and he stopped his work to look at him "Hi Scooter."
"Hey Trip." Scoter greeted his brother, and he then put his board next to his bed and sat down on it. "Same old same old."
"What do you mean?" Trip asked as he walked up to Scooter.
"Just that it feels like dad barely cares about me." Scooter explained as he lied down. "I mean he obviously does, but sometimes I feel he'd rather ignore me."
Trip sat down next to scooter and lied down with him, speaking with compassion for him. "Yeah; your relationship has been strained ever since you became a skater. (Looks at Scooter) But it's not like it's drinking, right?"
"Exactly." Scooter sighed, feeling as if he could prove to his dad that not all skaters are bad. "If only there was a way to show him that he doesn't have to feel hostile towards me in the future."
Trip thought for a moment and got an idea. "Why don't you try becoming top skater and stay as nice as you are now? (Realizes how odd the idea is) Wait, that'd take too long. (Sits up) Still, you could do just about anything."
Scooter looked at the ceiling with a look of confusion, seeming unable to grasp how this situation is affecting him. Trip, knowing about Scooter's struggles with their father, started to worry for Scooter and put his paw on his shoulder, smiling at him with kindness. When seeing his brother's affection, Scooter smiled back and started wrestling with his younger brother, with the two of them laughing as Scooter noogied Trip.
Scene cuts to Skate walking around town while thinking for courses he could make for Scooter to do.
Skate was seen brainstorming as he thinks to himself on ways to top Scooter, thinking to himself inside of his head. "There's no denying that Scooter has skill; but I can't let him stay ahead of me now, or ever. There has to be a way to prove I'm the better skater."
Skate saw a poster and became intrigued by it, grabbing it and beginning to read it. "Are you the ultimate skater? Do you want to show your friends the tricks you can do? Yes and yes actually. Skate started walking off and continued reading. "Then it's your lucky day, as the ultimate skating tournament is coming to town. This everyone...is Skate's up! Sixty four skaters, five locations, two finalists, one champion. Who will come out on top? Will it be you? Sign up at the skate shack to find out."
Skate saw this as an opportunity to prove himself the better skater, running off to get to Scooter's house. Imagining what it'd be like to one up Scooter, Skate saw that he could finally prove himself the more experienced skater. He ran off to the woods and jumped onto a bench, jumping onto the fence and running on it. Skate ran over the fence and saw Scooter's house on a hill in the forest, jumping off of the fence and running off. Skate ran through the forest while jumping on a branch to go over the creek, running up to Scooter's house when he does.
Skate arrived at the front yard of Scooter's house and wiped his forehead, feeling a tad tired and snarking a bit. "What's running supposed to be anyway? Skating zero point five?"
Scene cuts to Scooter chugging a soda with Trip timing him with excitement.
Trip chanted for Scooter to finish, knowing he could do it. "Chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug." Scooter finished the soda and burped with proudness, with Trip stopping the timer. "And that's twelve sodas in two minutes."
Scooter and Trip hi fived as knocking was heard on the door, along with Skate's voice being heard. "Dude; open up!" Scooter ran over to the door and answered it, with Skate showing him the poster. "Take a look at this bad boy."
Scooter took the poster and read it over, becoming exceptionally excited. "Skate's up? That's the ultimate skating tournament!"
"I know, right?" Skate replied with anticipation. "We'll finally be able to prove who's the better skater. Which will be me."
"Pssh. In your dreams." Scooter said with slight cockiness, but also confidence in his own skills.
Scooter and Skate spat into each others paws and glared at each other with smiles of competitive spirit, with Skate speaking with more cockiness than Scooter. "May the best skater, aka yours truly, win."
"Aside from the yours truly part, that's what I plan to do." Scooter and Skate separated their paws as Scooter felt something uncomfortable and chuckled a bit. "But first, I have to pee."
Skate looked to see the soda cans Scooter drank, getting an idea of why he has to go. "Soda rush?"
Scooter nodded. "Soda rush."
