Skate's up Part thirteen: Regrets of close ones

Scene cuts to Skate looking over Egypt while sitting on a small brick wall.

Skate was shown to be regretting everything he's done reflecting on his actions in the tournament. He thought of five words to himself. Had he gone too far? The words he thought made him cringe the most at his actions. It made him wish he could just erase it all. Scooter then walked up to Skate however, hoping that everything was okay with him. "You okay buddy?"

Skate looked at Scooter, surprised to see him speaking in a genuinely calm tone. After an incident like that, anyone else would've hated him for it. But something about Scooter's tone just clicked with him. "After everything I did, you're still nice to me?"

"Of course dude." Scooter replied as he sat down next to Skate. "We've been best friends for five years. It's gonna take a lot more than some tournament to do that."

Skate sighed, wishing he didn't do what he did with the plane, or anything else really. He knew that Scooter deserved a better best friend, and he couldn't give it to him. What he said next was shocking to the wolf/dog hybrid. "You're just lucky you have what you have. You're nowhere in my position."

Scooter became surprised to hear Skate's words of kindness; not becuase they were kind, but because they were responsible. "My family went bankrupt a while back due to my idiot dad making some insane wager. As much as I wanna help him, I think the only reason he allowed me to join this thing is for the cash."

Scooter felt sorry for Skate, not knowing everything that he'd went through. "Did you ever try talking to him about it?"

"Dude; if I tried then I'd be screwed." Skate sighed, wishing he could fix everything. "We've lost all our cash, our house is a wreck, my father's potentially guilt tripping me, I don't know what to think anymore." Scooter looked back on everything that's happened with Skate face palming. "And to think the only reason I sabotaged the plane was so I wouldn't have to sabotage you."

Scooter looked at Skate, who walked up to the top of a hill as soft yet upbeat music played. Skate looked up to the night sky as he prepares to sing Pain of home.

Skate started singing and sounded remourseful as he did. "I don't want to come off as a brat, who hates all of, what he's earned. (Scooter stands behind Skate) I've just been so conflicted lately, and it all feels so absurd. If I could go back in time, I'd stop what started it all. But all I can say about that is that, I cannot end the fall."

Scooter walks up to Skate and stands next to him as the Chocolate Labrador continues to sing. "I ride this board, I play this game, full of pain and grief. Not knowing what I want to do, if I wanna be a doctor or chief. (Scooter looks at the night sky with Skate) Standing at ten years old, my mind still cannot decide. And even when it did I almost got you, and others killed for my pride."

Skate walks off with Scooter walking up to him with a confused look on his face. "This kinda reminds me of that Mlp Fim song You'll Play your Part."

"Dude, I love that song." Skate replied, putting Scooter into a more relaxed mood.

"I know, right?" Scooter then started singing himself. "Many children at this young age, have lots of trouble deciding. But even then I personally, don't think it should cause confiding. (Scooter and Skate walk through together) Admittedly after all of this, I shouldn't be so kind. But to hate my best friend for it, would be out of my mind."

Scooter and Skate run through the dunes after the sand passes over the screen. The two best friends sang in sync as they looked back on the events of Skate's up. "There's so much more in this world that, no one our age has seen. It's something we have in common, it makes us kind of keen. This whole trip has been one insane ride, with everything that's been shown."

Scooter and Skate arrived back to where the plane was as Skate looked up to the stars with grief. Still being upset about his actions, he made the final lyrics himself. "We've shown it all except for the pain of home."

Scooter put his paw on Skate's shoulder and looked up at the stars with him. He then brought up something that ringed in Skate's head. "You remember when we first met?"

Skate flinched and flashbacked to a time when he first met Scooter, when he was all bruised. He seemed to have been walking away from a brutal showdown with someone. Scooter saw Skate while sitting on a fence and became worried and ran over to him, hating to see anyone hurt. Scooter rushed to Skate's aid, making Skate confused, as he'd never met Scooter prior to this.

The flashback changed to Scooter walking Skate over to his house and Skate looking at the stars. Scooter told Skate something about the stars that lightened up the Chocolate Labrador's mood, making him forget almost entirely about his beatdown. The flashback ended with Skate clenching his fist with guilt at the thought of it. "Five years of friendship and I threw it all away."

Scooter put his paw on Skate's shoulder as he got serious with him. "Look Skate. It's gonna take a bit for me to forgive you entirely, but just know this much. There's only one thing you could do to make me hate you." Skate started crying tears of joy and hugged Scooter who wrapped his arms around him. "Cmon Skate. Let's finish this. Fair and square; no shortcomings."

Skate pulled Scooter away and nodded as he sniffled a bit and wiped his eyes with joy, glad to see his and Scooter's friendship getting back on track. "Right. I'll show you Scooter. I'm gonna play it all fair, no matter how hard it becomes." Scooter and Skate smiled at each other with Justin seen smiling at them while leaning on a plane wheel.

Scene cuts to Scooter and Skate walking up to the track the next day as Eric stops Scooter.

Scooter looked behind himself and saw his dad, who gave off a conflicted look. "Listen Scooter. I know it's really hard for me to accept this skating hobby of yours, and believe me; I've tried to get over my anxiety. (Scooter turns around) But it's not exactly easy when it was a huge part of something traumatic in my life."

"Yeah, that's understandable." Scooter admitted, knowing what his dad must've gone through couldn't have been a joke.

Eric sighed, wanting to make things as right with his son as possible. "What I'm trying to say Scooter, is that I'm sorry I was so hostile. I know we've both had our arguments and strains, but just know that I'll be doing my best to be the most important one in your life. (Puts paw on Scooter's head) Just like all parents should be."

Scooter smiled and hugged Eric, who wrapped his arms around him with a smile. Eric then spoke to him with a supportive tone. "Now get out there (Pulls Scooter away) and win Skate's up."

Scooter nodded and ran over to the starting line with Lila walking up to Eric. "You've raised a good kid Eric. Two of them actually."

"I can see that." Eric chuckled a bit. "Now I just have to be a part of their lives without making it uncomfortable for them." Trip jumped onto Eric's back, making Eric smile as he looked at Trip, who smiled back while putting his paws on his father's head.
