So, this one shot was inspired by book "Opportunities taken" by marshalB, so I decided to make sort of the same plot, but with some changes, enjoy!

Chase was sitting in front of bed where his girlfriend Skye was laying, but in the room there were other pups as well, the German Shepherd was in bad mental state about what happened before - literally, he cursed himself that he shouldn't be here, he almost let his friends die. But what currently happened?

The Paw Patrol was on Ultimate Police Rescue mission, in which they were saving hostages from abandoned warehouse. All pups were inside of the bulding, making sure that people will be out safe and sound while the German Shepherd was observing around and controlling the process. In one moment, he noticed a red object on the wall, which had some flaming smell.

Chase: Not good. Ruff! Binocular!

The binocular appeared from his pup-pack, so Chase could check on other dangerous objects - to his fear, he noticed somewhere around 9 or even 10 red objects, one of them had a screen with number, which could mean only one thing.

Chase: Guys!! The place is mined! Hurry up!

Rubble: What do you mean mined?

Chase: There're explosives!!

Pups managed to bring out the last hostage and ran to the exit as well, however explosives detonated making the warehouse go down on them. Ryder, who was watching outside on action, noticed that the building collapsed and gasped in horror, he didn't want his pups pass away.

Ryder: Pups! Can you hear me?? Let me know if you're ok!!

The boy tried to call them 5 times, but got no response and prepared himself for the worst case. However, he then saw Chase, sobbing near other pups and ran up to him. The German Shepherd leaped on his owner and cried non-stop, blaming himself that he couldn't save his friends in time.

Present time

Chase was sitting with his head down, as the nurse arrived and told him that the visit time is over and he obeyed her, leaving the hospital. He couldn't look at them, being all unhurt and safe, so Ryder became really worried.

2 weeks later

Even despite big impact, pups survived the collapse and got discharged, which meant that Paw Patrol is back on track. A comeback party was organized and pups were surely pleased by that. Everything was going smooth, until Marshall noticed that his best friend wasn't anywhere nearby.

Marshall: Where's Chase though?

Jake: I don't know, we rarely saw him through last 2 weeks. He was so down after that.

Zuma: What do you mean?

Jake: He was blaming himself that he couldn't save you. And even despite that he heard about your awakeness, he still blamed himself.

Skye: Oh God. Where is he right now?

Alex: He went on playground, I spotted him while going to you.

Skye: Alright, leave that to me!

The Cockapoo then ran from the Lookout to the playground where her boyfriend was staying. He wasn't hanging around on swings or slide, instead he was sitting on bench and looking at the sea, but even despite being in his own thoughts, Chase heard steps and turned to sound heading to see his recovered girlfriend, who ran up to him and pulled into tightest hug - the German Shepherd also hugged her tightly, being happy that she was safe. When they stopped hugging, Skyes' face became very worried and serious.

Skye: Chase, don't hide it from me. I know what's going on.

Chase: Me too. But... Skye, I really can't forgive myself for that. You almost died while I survived!

Skye: Stop it, it's over now.

Chase: Skye, please, I almost failed my promise to keep you safe!

Skye: Stop dramatizing! You didn't fail!

Chase: I almost did!

Skye: You didn't at all!!

Chase: I love you too much to make sure that you'll be safe!!

Skye then stopped their little argument as her boyfriend touched very sensitive topic - their love to each other. Seems like, that incident hurt Chase deeply, so she decided to let him say all what he thinks.

Skye: What do you mean by that?

Chase: Skye *sigh*, I honestly love you all, we were through many dangerous moments, and as a leader I need to protect you... I really feel a big responsibility on myself, especially about you, Skye. I love you so much that I can't lose you. All pups are everything for me, you're everything to me!

Skye was touched by this speech - it meant how big was Chases' love to all pups and to her as well, so she leaned to kiss Chases' cheek and nuzzle him.

Skye: Chase... I appreciate what you said. It shows that your love to me means a lot. And not only to me. How about we'll stay here, and I'll make sure you can forgive yourself? 

Chase: Yeah, I'd love to.

Skye: Nice.

Before going from the playground, the Cockapoo warned about her absence by staying with Chase and when it was sealed, our pups walked to the beach and had pleasing 2 hours of cuddling time.

Chase: Hey?

Skye: Yeah?

Chase: Is there thing about which you can't forgive yourself too?

Skye: Hmmm... maybe the fact that I made you too worried and didn't react to your warning as soon as I should have.

As soon as Skye said that, her boyfriend kissed her forehead and pulled her closer to herself.

Chase: Then don't beat yourself over it. I'm just glad that I managed to get you out in time.

Skye (giggles): Thanks Chasey.

Then she kissed his nose as they kept cuddling. The end!
