Harry's foot tapped roughly against the wooden floor of his doctor's office, frustrated and nervous to hear back from his doctor. Alex was nervous as well but didn't understand why Harry was acting this way. They had done this every six months or so since they've met and Harry has never been this nervous.

It had been years since he had cancer and fought it. Every time during his checkup, he would come back with great results. Alex was curious as to why he was suddenly sweating with fear and doubt that he was fine. "Do you feel...sick?" She didn't know how to ask, so she just spoke without much thought.

There was no way to feel the type of cancer Harry had. Yes, you felt tired and fragile, but it wasn't a lump or a mark on his body. He worked in a hospital and sometimes he began to feel himself get a cold and would fight it off, so symptoms can be played off as other things.

"No." He finally responded to Alex. "It's just- things a-a-are so good right n-now. Emery's healthy and in school, thriving. We have a n-nice place and jobs- you're in school. I can't be s-s-sick, not this time.”

“Hey, hey calm down baby.” she put her arms around him and cuddled him into her chest where Harry admitted time and time again, that was his favorite spot. Harry didn't like laying between Alex's breasts because of the boobs themselves- although that was a plus. He liked laying his head there because her heartbeat was so calming and would make his slow down back to normal.

He really is just a big baby.

There was knock and the two pulled away from each other as doctor Murphy, Harry's main provider, walked in with a slight frown on his face. Harry thought the worse at times like this, almost to the point where he felt faint. “So, how are we feeling?”

Harry let out a whimper and looked at Alex for support. He felt his tongue, twisting up in his mouth, struggling to say what he felt. Alex held his hand and looked up at the doctor. “He's just really nervous for the results now that everything is good for us.”

Doctor Murphy nodded and took a seat in front of the two, pulling out some papers. “Well, Harry, the results are good, you're still cancer free.” Harry hadn't felt this nervous about results since he first met Alex.

He remembers so clearly that he didn't want to go to the doctor with his mom. His logic was that if he didn't know, it couldn't hurt him. How can he get sick when he finally met someone as perfect as Alex who made him feel like he was as healthy as a horse.

“See you're fine,” Alex told him and pressed a kiss to his temple.

“Yes, but his iron levels are low again, I'm going to have to give you iron to take at home for a while, have you been feeling faint at all?” Harry chuckled awkwardly, still not being able to speak properly. He nodded and looked down at his feet, feeling like a kid.

“He thought it was nerves, I'll make sure he adds more greens to his diet, doctor.” Alex pinched Harry's hip and he finally spoke up.

“Yes, I will do that.” They all agreed and the checkup was over.

A couple of years later

As it was said before, life was good.

Harry worked his dream job, had time to take his daughter to school, and had a wife now. Last month, the two decided that a wedding wasn't in their budget and if they were honest, it wasn't the most important thing in the world. So they decided to go down to the courthouse and get married. Harry had to admit to himself, he had a very beautiful wife and a very beautiful life too.

Alex was now only a few weeks from graduation and had to step back and realize how good things had become. “Not everyone gets a happy ending like this,” people would tell her all the time. Having a great relationship and family, getting your degree and all of that was great, but this wasn't the end. Alex considered this as a new chapter in her life.

She knew that there would be lots of ups and downs coming her way. She was only twenty-four now, she had her whole life ahead of her and she was excited about that.

Most importantly she was excited about graduation. So excited that she almost felt nervous, throwing up during rehearsals for it.

She came home to Harry and Emery making dinner for her since she had been to her rehearsals and work today. She smiled at her little girl and husband dancing around the kitchen while they waited for the chicken to be done in the oven. Emery was teaching Harry new dance moves and it made Alex smile before getting a gross feeling in the pit of her stomach.

There was a smell in the kitchen from where she was standing that grossed her out.

Harry turned to his wife, holding her stomach and gave her a look before she looked down and realized the smell was coming from the trash can. She immediately turned and made a direct b line to the bathroom where she emptied her stomach.

A lot of thoughts roamed into Alex's head when as she flushed the toilet and sat up off the floor to wash her mouth out. The last time she threw up was...when she was pregnant? Her eyes widened as she brushed the bile in her mouth. She looked at the timeline and realized that her birth control was overdue and she might have gotten pregnant during one of their late night rendezvous. Then she counted back days and realized she had missed her period- which was normal for her since she did have the birth control.

Now she was confused.

Harry walked in to see her staring at herself in the mirror and cleared his throat, she jumped and turned to him, giving her a small wave before spitting the toothpaste into the sink. “You okay?”

“Yeah, just...threw up.” she tied her hair back and went over to get a comforting hug from Harry. There was slight hesitation that Harry caught onto but he decided that if it were important, she would tell him.

Graduation came faster than expected and Alex couldn't concentrate on anything until she took a test. With her graduation cap pinned to her head, wearing a dress and heels, she took a pregnancy test in the bathroom at the hall where her graduation was being held.

Harry had texted her that he and their families had great seats and couldn't wait to see her, meanwhile, Alex had to wait the longest two minutes of her life. Just like the first time, Alex didn't believe just one test, so she took a few. She paced back and forth in the stall and felt her heartbeat racing so fast against her chest.

Just then a sudden pounding on the door made her jump and almost lose her balance. She grabbed her stuff, shoving her tests into her bag and walking out with an awkward encounter from a woman in a wheelchair who needed the handicap stall. “Sorry,” she said quietly.

“It's alright.” she went in and Alex went over to the sink to wash her hands and wait for the stupid timer to go off. When it did go off, she couldn't look at them just yet, she had to sort of register that she might be pregnant. Did she want to have a baby again, yes? But she couldn't help but feel like maybe it wasn't the best time.

Yet again, when she was sixteen it wasn't a convenient time, but she still had her baby.

She must have been there for a while because soon the voice over the intercom told people to begin taking their seats which meant she had to go and actually get in line for the ceremony. She put on her gown and took her purse, walking towards the lines where she was told to put her bag under her gown, not remembering that she had her tests in there.

Beside her possible pregnancy, Alex had another thing on her mind, a speech she had to make in front of her class and everyone here tonight. She worked hard on it but still felt unprepared.

She walked in with her classmates and listened to each speech until it was her turn. She could hear clear as day, Harry screaming over the applause, “that's my baby!”

She came on stage and pulled out her notes, setting them down on the podium with a small gasp as she caught a glimpse of one of the tests in her bag. Trying not to react, she did her speech perfectly, she spoke of her daughter and the challenges in life, how the school helped her and pushed her with the hard-working teachers they had. She thanked her family and wished everyone luck as they move forward in their lives.

All of this was done, earning her loud applause and standing ovation while she tried to take in the fact that she was pregnant, again.
