Katherine Howard- Heart (c)

"He's different," Katherine said, a gleam in her eye.

You shot her a look. "You said that about the last one."

She stopped brushing her hair to focus on the conversation between you. You had never seen love clearer upon someone's face however you had seen that expression upon Katherine's on more than one occasion. Katherine was young and idealistic, she heard fairy tales of women being whisked away by a charming prince, and she had dreams of being in one. She allowed her heart to guide her to men whom were so far very clearly not good for her. Maybe the world had made your heart bitter over the years, but you couldn't remember being so naïve and seeking men's affections.

There were good men out there, but Katherine seemed to miss each of them. The ones whom she had fallen for had been charming and charismatic, showing everything that a woman could dream however soon warning signs begun to appear, but she never seemed to see them until they were too late. She was an attractive woman and men sought her but not for her heart, rather for what was between her legs.

"He loves me Y/N," she smiled.

"Are you sure?" You questioned. "What makes you think he loves you?"

She paused for a moment, the lovesick expression still on her face.

"He always compliments me and not just for my appearance but for my mind. He values my time and work and appreciates me as a person. He even thinks there is a connection," she grinned. "He feels how much I love him too. It was meant to be."

You furrowed your brows at her. It was all stuff you had heard before from men whom she loved but also from men whom sought out your time before learning of your husband then acting as though everything, they said had been a complete joke.

"Does this not all seem familiar?" You asked.

Having attempted to talk her out of affections before, you knew it would be unlikely to work. She may have been naïve and followed her heart rather than her head, but she wasn't dumb, she was willing to let her strong wills stand prevalent.

"You worry too much," she laughed, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "It is going to be okay."

You let out a sigh, knowing for now there was no convincing her. You hoped desperately that she was right about this guy but from experience through her and you, you weren't going to hold your breath for him being a good person.

"Just be careful Katherine," you said softly, resting a hand onto her shoulder.

"I always am."

And that was what scared you most.
