Mummy (2)
Joan always saw Jane as a mother figure. She'd been orphaned from the age of three, delicate and abused, neglected. And stayed that way until become Lady In Waiting to the Silver Queen. Jane was always there. Always there to help her with school. Always there to hold her hand. Always there to guide her. Always there when she needed her. Always there when she didn't. Always available. But that's what they'd all said and even did at first. And then they kicked her out, starved her, made her feel worthless. She knew she was seventeen and should eh sensible. But it was hard.
She woke up by Jane's side, which shocked her. "Mummy?" She mumbled groggily and then slapped her hand to her mouth and ran up to her room, slamming the door. "I'm so stupid! I've ruined everything!" She sobbed.
Jane quietly followed her up with Kitty and they both went inside, Jane pulling Joan close and Kat smiling supportively. "Darling," she started softly, stroking her hair. "I would love to be your mummy, if that's what you want,"
"What about k-kitty?"
"She has a baby sissy, and you have a big sister," Jane smiled.
Joan nodded timdily and hugged them both. "I love you both. And I'm sorry that I've been so difficult," she whispered.
"Joan," Kat started and sat besides her, holding her close. "Mama will tell you when I first came I stocked horrid things like cream cakes under my bed. Mama promised that I'd always have enough to eat and I could always ask for something else. And I'd always have clean clothes and she'd always be there. But she gave me things like biscuits that would keep for me to keep. Becasue she knew how hard I found it. Just like you. Wait a sec," she ran out and returned, passing Joan a box full of food. "I don't need this anymore, it's always there if you so, but I promise you won't,"
"H-How did you learn to trust her?" She bit her lip
Kitty laughed and shook her head, smiling. "I didn't, she just showed me I could,"
"Okay, I love you all. So so much, and I know we aren't family, so I'm sorry. I'm just staying with you until I get a home," she said sadly. "But I know that you arent my family."
"Well," Jane sighed and hugged her. "Don't think we forgot it was your birthday. And we were wondering if you'd like to become a permanent member of the Seymour fmaily and household?"
"Really?!"
Jane nodded and held up the signed forms. "You're oyes as soon as you sign and we send them off,"
"You sure?" She asked anxiously
"Yes!" Kitty giggled and Jane nodded in agreement. "Just sign,"
Joan grinned and picked up a pen before signing with a flourish and hugging them both, tears streaming down her cheeks
