No6: Warframe

Of all the games on this list, Warframe is probably the largest. A free to play, role playing game by Digital Extremes you take the place of a Tenno a child forced to be augmented with powers like the ability to control a Warframe. A Warframe is a remote controlled biological android this is used to fight to save the sol solar system from the grips of maniacal despots and protect the weak from their oppressive control. At the same time protecting them all from the nightmares that brought the old Orokin Empire to its knees. It is the definitive fighting game for those who want a LOT more out of their game.

You start with some basic weapons and an old neglected ship and you must build up your arsenal if you are to survive. To do that you need parts, blueprints and lots of resources. To get them, you have to travel throughout the planets and moons of the solar system to fight enemies and gather them up. Then you get to crafting and modding. Crafting is rather automatic while modding is more intensive with hundreds of unique mods, each with different effects, allowing you to mix and match however you see fit.

This even extends to all warframes. Each warframe possess powers of its own to give yet more options to fight on the field with. Each one is unique and has a specific use. Like Ember is the pyromancer who burns all around her while Rhino is the unstoppable tank with abilities to boost his strength and armour far beyond any other is capable of. There are 42 warframes in total with more on their way. Every single one as its own advantages and disadvantages and backstory.

Now, this game's most unique feature is not the wide range of ways to fight but places to fight in and ways to get there. That is a seamless transition from planetside combat to space combat. One can be walking on venus, shooting mutant monsters in the wild jungles one minute and fighting in space the next. This is really a wonderful achieve for those in Digital Extremes. Even high budget games like Mass Effect break the two up by cutting space combat out entirely. The sheer technical marvel of a game that can handle space and planetside combat in the one map is sure to blow minds and amaze.

None of this even counts everything available in the game. There are immense amounts of lore and details about every being you encounter. Then there's the clans you can form with other players, the dojos these clans can build and modify for themselves. The intricate trading system between players and then competitions. There is  just so, so much to do in warframe that one can spend thousands of hours on the and still not even know everything.

Warframe is a behemoth of a game to tackle, with Digital Extreme constantly adding to it and updating it this is one game that can truly offer endless hours of entertainment. Not even Neir Automata can boast about that.
