CHAPTER 44

Manthara walked ahead as Janki followed her. The old woman had more pride inside of her than the actual rightful queen of not only Ayodhya but all the universes walking behind her.

But Janki didn't had an ounce of anger in her. She had a small smile on her face, for she knew now she can serve her prabhu Shri Ram.

Manthara took her to a room where Arundhati the wife of Vasisht was already there, she knew Manthara would bring Janki here.

Seeing her Janki touched her feet, as Arundhati blessed her whole heartedly.

"Blessed I am to be in your presence Gurumaa." Janki said.

"The honour is mine Janki." Arundhati smiled.

"Are you both done !?" Manthara asked.

Arundhati looked at Manthara irritated as the old maid threw the saffron clothing and rudraksh ornaments on the table, without any respect.

"Remove those lavish clothes and ornaments and put on these !" Manthara said.

"No Janki ! Don't listen to this old hag ! You may wear those clothes but don't remove your saubhagya-chinh. It brings misfortune." Arundhati said.

"As you say Gurumaa. Manthara, teach me how to wear these." Janki requested.

"Why not ? I will dress you up." Manthara said.

"No need ! I will teach Sita, you keep your hands away." Arundhati said.

"Fine ! Whatever !" Manthara scoffed and left.

"Sita, come let me teach you." Arundhati said ignoring Manthara.

------

"Maharaj Dashrath would've been completely heartbroken after seeing his children in the attire of tapasvis." Yudhishthir said.

"Indeed he was, but what pained his heart the most was seeing Janki like this." Krishna said.

------

Janki entered the room of Dashrath after being dressed by Gurumaa Arundhati. Seeing her Dashrath started weeping.

"Hey Vidhata ! Why didn't you take my life before making me see this ?" Dashrath sobbed.

Vasisth's heart also pained, the supreme goddess of all form of wealth, devi Mahalaxmi was wearing just a simple saffron garment with just enough jewellery to indicate that she was married.

"Janki, my child, I understand you wouldn't want to live with a cruel woman like Kaikeyi. I request you to go to Janakpuri and live lavishly. Don't go to the forest pleae." Dashrath begged.

"Pitashree, my life is going to the forest without Raghunath I am no better than a dead body. Forgive me that I am not able to obey any of your wishes today." Janki joined her hands.

It pained her that this is the last time she will be seeing Dashrath and yet she is not able to obey or serve him by any means.

"Ram, the more you stay, the more restless your father will become. You all should leave now only." Kaikeyi said.

"As you say Mata." Shri Ram agreed.

He, Janki and Laxman touched the feet of Kaikeyi, Dashrath and Vasisth, taking their blessings. The three walked out as the old king sobbed.
