Dhampirs, also known as half-bloods, are beings who are part-vampire and part-human, usually the result of a union between a vampire and a human. As this is a rare occurrence, dhampirs are quite rare and few in number. Like in vampire lore, dhampirs have the powers of a full-blood vampire; such as inhuman strength, speed and regenerative abilities, plus enhanced senses, like sight, smell and hearing, though lack the ability to teleport.

However, they lack virtually any vampire weaknesses, though are easier to kill by comparison. A dhampir is not required to feed on blood and can in fact survive on normal human food, plus can use magic and develop other abilities. They're also not affected by sunlight, hence the title; daywalker. A dhampir's blood is also highly intoxicating to vampires, even addictive. Due to this and their nature, dhampirs are vampires' natural enemy.
