Chapter 1 -Part 2-

"It'll be fine," Camber assured her."Here, let me fix your hair." As Camber used her fingers back at Stephanie's hair and re secure her ponytail. I thought about where our dad was now.

"We don't even know if he even watches the news,"I reminded them. "The truth is we don't know much about him nowadays. Not where he's living, where his band is preforming, or why he hasn't called or come home in almost a year."

"Well if he does watch the news, he should be embarrassed," Camber muttered while she clenched the pony holder with her teeth. "Leaving without saying goodbye, I don't know why I'm even surprised". She spat out the rubber band and bound up the top of Stephanie's ponytail. "Did you know that seventy percent of men aren't as attached to their female children as they are to their sons? It's true. I read that somewhere", Stephanie said.

Camber let out an exaggerated sigh and rolled her eyes. "Can't you ever talk like a real person? I'm tired of listening to you quote stupid stuff!"

"Well at least I'm not the one that pushes their own friends away, just to be the popular girl in the school!"Stephanie yelled.

"Why you little-"

"Knock it off", I said, stepping in between them. If we kept arguing, we'd never make a decision about the dead man and what it meant for our future of our swimming hole. After a quick glance at Camber, I calmed down and looked at the two of them. " A man is dead in the river and all you can do is fight? We should be pulling him out of there and get help."

Stephanie didn't looked at Camber. Instead she looked at the drowned man. His blue shirt clung to his back in a crumbled mess. It was still semi-tucked into his belted jeans. He was wearing cowboy boots that were probably rattlesnake skin, like the ones Dad used to wear."So, who's going to help me to grab him out of the water and who's going to customs to report this? Remember the rule of the three little sisters, the three musketeers, together forever, no matter what!

"Now hold on."Camber interuppted. "We're not calling anyone. We can't turn him in to the border patrol. They'll throw him in a hole somewhere and will just forget all about him.Hello? The custom agents could be ruthless! To them, illagals are no better than stray dogs. They'd shoot them before they'd help them."

Stephanie scrunched up her face, on the verge of sobbing aloud."I'm scared."

"Shut up. We don't have time for crybabies." Camber scowled at Stephanie.

Stephanie looked down and cried silently, but she had enough. "I'm telling Mom!" she wailed, but when she was running  close to the bikes, Camber pulled her arm and forced her to face her. "No your not you little snitch," she said. "We are not telling anyone anything. We are doing the right thing."

I didn't like where this was going. Knowing Camber's toxic ways, this could turn into one of her many harebrained schemes."Help me pull him out,"Camber said as she waded into the river.I sighed but I pulled him cause you know she's my sister, even is she is a bit-

"Hey girls, look what I found in his wallet."Camber said as she snapped out of my thoughts."Look at this. Hundreds, fifties, twenties."What Camber said made Stephanie run towards us like there's no tomorrow."He's rich!" she squealed.

"There's a address too, Camber whispered, pulling the man's Mexican driver's license out of the wallet and staring at it. "His name is Gabriel Perdido. He's from El Sacrifico across the border."

"Hey isn't that where our Grandmother lives?"I felt sorry for Stephanie. She only met our grandmother once before, when she was around three."We have to go there".

"We can't." I insisted and shook my head.I stepped away and turned my back to them. I stared off into the woods, down the worn path that led back into town wishing we'd stayed home today."We can't go because.....," I began. Then, dropping the wallet near Camber's feet, I closed my eyes and fought pass the pain, agonizing the emotions that threaten to make me to cry. It was painful to imagine to see our grandmother living alone and we only saw her only twice in our lifetimes except for Stephanie she only saw her once. If only Dad had been more willing to do this job to make our family whole again.

"Because why, Clair?!" Camber demanded me. "Give me one good reason!"

"Because its all the way to friggin mexico, Thats why!" I growled

"So, we are going to travel all the was to El Sacrfico and drop off the drowned man and maybe visit our grandmother, alright!"Camber yelled.

I glared at her. But when I was about to say something to her, something caught my eye. On the other side of the lake, I saw something moved, a.....woman? She stood still watching us from the distance. I tried to see her face and her form but the sun's rays blocked my view of the woman. All I could see is her White hair and white torn dress flowing in the wind. But then she vanished.

"What is it" Camber asked.

I thought of the weeping woman. Legands says that she makes Men and children cause suicide or drowning them till they can no longer breath. The thought of it just makes me shiver in fear.

"Nothing," I said, looking back at Camber but took a quick glance on where the weeping woman was standing.

"Lets get back home, it's getting dark."

Welp that's the end of chapter one. It took me forever to make this part. Now I can sleep. *eye twitches*
