Chapter Ten
"(Y/N), can you hear me?" I could recognize Clem's voice anywhere. Her voice was muffled, though. It was like I had earmuffs in. I coughed, blood came back out. I gasped for air, it filled my lungs.
"Oh thank god." Kenny muttered, I glanced around.
"Where are we?" I asked, forgetting what had happened.
"In a truck, Carver and his group took us." Clementine said.
I finally noticed that she had red streaks under her eyes. She'd been crying, I wondered if she was crying because of me or just because of our situation.
Kenny was on his feet, as the truck drove over a bump. I groaned in pain, and grabbed my head.
"Take it easy, (Y/N)," Clem said, "You took a nasty fall when Kenny tried to shoot Carver. Take a nap, I'll wake you when we're there." I nodded silently, I was in too much pain to speak.
I fell asleep against Clem's shoulder, slipping into dreamland.
I stood in front of Lee again. Clementine was fast asleep on his shoulder, Lee woke up seconds after I appeared.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing up?" He asked, I was still shocked that he was there- alive.
"I uh- felt sick, I didn't mean to wake you." I answered.
"Oh its alright, sweetpea. Come- lay with me and Clementine." Lee suggested, patting the empty seat beside him.
I obeyed, and felt the warmth of Lee's arm as he wrapped it around me. I calmed down then, and wriggled myself up against his chest. I laid there, unable to sleep because of the excitement, fear, and just all-out confusion of seeing a man who should be dead.
Lee wasn't able to sleep either, he glanced at me.
"Are you okay, sweetpea?" He asked, I gulped.
"What just happened?" I asked, I assumed I was in a dream after Lilly shot Carley.
"Lilly shot Carley, sweety. She's in a better place, now." He answered, I cringed.
"Did we kick her out?" I asked, he nodded.
"Is Duck okay?"
"He's bit, (Y/N). We don't know how he's doing." Lee explained, I shook my head and got up from the couch.
"Where are you going?" He asked, I sighed.
"I'm going to visit..someone." I responded, Lee sighed.
"Alright."
Before Lee could stop me, I headed to the driver's area of the trailer. Kenny was driving while Katjaa and Duck were asleep in the passenger's seat.
"(Y/N)?" Kenny said, "What are you doing awake?"
"I uh, wanted to come check on you three. Looks like I was a little late getting here." I answered, Kenny chuckled.
"You always cared for Duck." Kenny muttered, as if it was a question. I glanced at the floor.
"He's not going to survive, Kenny. I know that's hard to believe right now, but you'll be okay. A lot will happen, but Clem and I will be there for you." I stated, Kenny turned to me for a second with wide eyes.
"(Y/N), what do you mean by that?" He asked, but before I respond I drifted out of dreamland and woke up as the truck stopped and I was shaken awake.
"(Y/N)!" Clementine yelled, I jolted awake and blinked rapidly until my vision cleared.
There was a man with a gun in front of me, I assumed he wanted me out so I got on my feet and jumped. My head pounded like a drum, but I powered through and caught up with the group as Carver spoke over a PA system.
We stopped at a door and Bonnie opened it, saying that we should stay off the fence, since Carver could see us. Once inside, most of the group went to greet a man named Reggie. He had one arm, and Sarah explained who he was to Clem and I.
"How's your head, (Y/N)?" Sarah asked, I shrugged.
"I'll be fine."
As the group caught up with Reggie, we were introduced and a black man at the corner of the room told us to be quiet, because he needed to get up in the morning. His name was Mike.
We watched as Carlos came back through the gates, and the man with a gun yelled at us to get to sleep.
So Clementine and I sat beside our assigned bunk beds as the others climbed into their beds.
"Hey girls, the others aren't too keen on leaving. It's up to us to figure a way out of here. You both up for it?" Kenny whispered.
"Of course we are." I answered, Kenny nodded and we all fell into deep sleep.
Clem and I were awoken by the same man from the night before, he told us that Carver was going to speak with us. While he explained the walker situation, Sarah attempted to try and speak to us. I rolled my eyes.
"Be quiet." I hissed, she rolled her own eyes but continued to try and talk to Clementine.
"Carlos!" Carver hissed, "It seems your child is in need of correction."
"S-Sarah, apologize to Mr. Carver." Carlos told her.
"I-I'm sorry, sir." Sarah said, Carver shook his head.
"That ain't gonna cut it. Carlos, give her a nice smack across the mouth. That should teach her to think twice before opening it again." Carver responded, everyone froze.
As Carlos slapped her, Sarah fell to the ground and began crying. Carver seemed satisfied.
"It's time to get to work." Carver muttered.
"You're both working in the armory, follow me." A black woman said, approaching Clementine and I.
Concerned for Sarah, we both were hesitant to follow the woman- but we had to.
