Chapter Nine
When we got up to the cabin, Luke suggested that one of us should go up to the top of the tall tower so we could get a better look. So Clem and I decided we should both go up. I climbed first and went as fast as I could while Clem took her sweet time getting up to me.
When she got up to me, we both noticed a bright light as if people were coming. But when we called for Luke we notice him run to the others. This time, I let Clem go first and then I followed her. We both approached the group, and pushed through until we were at the front.
Standing right in front of us, was Kenny. He had a long beard now, and his eyes seemed brighter then before. He was shocked to see us too.
"Clem...(Y/N)!?" He said, as the two of us hugged him tightly.
"We can talk inside." Kenny said, Clem and I had the biggest smiles on our faces.
The inside of the house was beautiful, decorations were everywhere and there was calming music playing in the background. While the group began to argue after Walter told them they could put their things down, Kenny asked if we could vouch for them all.
"They're cool." Clem answered, Kenny nodded and set his rifle down. The group seemed pleased.
Clementine and I set out bookbags under the bench and followed Kenny into the living room, where the christmas tree was. The three of us sat on the couch and talked about our pasts, when I thought Kenny was dead, when Lee saved us, and how Kenny even survived. Soon though, the group came down and Kenny headed outside to bring in some supplies before the storm.
"(Y/N), Clem, how about you two help Walt with dinner?" He suggested, we both nodded and approached the man.
After a short conversation with Walter, Clementine and I decided to snoop around a little bit.
We soon walked up and had a quick conversation with Rebecca, Alvin, and Carlos until the two men left and Rebecca explained that the baby wasn't Alvins.
"Whose is it then?" I whispered, concerned for her.
"He'll kill me if he finds out." Rebecca answered.
"He won't kill you." Clem said, Rebecca sighed.
Before she could say anymore, Alvin approached.
"Thanks for staying with her, girls. Can you two go ask Walter when we'll be eating?" Alvin asked, the two of us nodded.
We discovered the box with a ball, a star, and an angel in it. Since Sarah wanted an angel on the tree, we took the angel and clementine put it on the tree.
"Well everyone, dinner is served!" Walter called from the kitchen, everyone headed over and took their bowls. Clementine and I had to choose where we should eat. Since everyone from the newest group seemed down, Clem and I decided to sit with Luke and the others. Before we knew it, Kenny came over and sat beside Luke.
Kenny started going on about the place Christa, Clem, and I were going to go to. Wellington. When Nick and Kenny started fighting, I got in the middle of it.
"Don't fight right now, please guys." I said surprisingly, they both listened.
"Pass me that can, Duck." Kenny said, Clem and I froze.
"Duck? Who's Duck?" Luke asked.
"Just leave him alone, Luke." I muttered, as Walter approached Clem and I.
"Girls, mind giving me a hand outside for a moment?" He asked, we accepted and followed him.
Walt appologzied for Kenny's behavior and gave us a small talk until Kenny showed up, we went around the corner to check the windows when we saw a red-headed woman peeking in the windows. Instead of kicking her off the turf, Walter gave her food.
I know he was trying to be nice, but at the time- you couldn't be nice. It was either kill people or get killed. I wish I was able to do something about it then.
Clementine and I headed back inside, Luke called us over and showed us a picture of the man on the bridge, he was with Walter. I had his knife in my bag, but as we were going to leave- Nick appeared. Clem decided it was best to show Nick the photo, but I knew we should probably tell Walter.
I went to my bag, but the knife wasn't there. I turned to see Walter playing with it outside. Clem and I were terrified, but the two of us went to talk to him anyways. We told him the truth, that Nick shot Matthew and when Nick came and agreed that he shot the man, Walter threw the knife away and then everyone else appeared.
We had to shut down the wind turbine, the thing was going to attract too many walkers. Clem shut it down while I covered her back, once it was down we finally noticed that there were too many walkers. Clem and I hid behind a rock, I shot the walker to the right and she shot the one of the left.
We shot the walkers until we were both out of bullets, then Carlos saved out lives. Another walker appeared there was a gun but it was too strong for me and or Clem so I grabbed the knife that was close instead and stunned the walker then stabbed into their brain.
Clem and I approached the entrance, but Nick was being attacked by a walker Walter stood their with a gun, he shot the walker. Nick and Walt exchanged a quick glance of apprectiation before we got inside the lodge.
There were new people out there now, they had faster rifles. I recongnized Carver and..Bonnie. Carver told everyone outside to get inside so they did but Rebecca, Alvin, Clem, and I hid. We were behind the couch until Alvin said it was okay for us to get up with them. So we stayed as quiet as possible and watched as the others were tied up.
Carver pulled out Carlos, and started breaking his fingers one by one while Alvin told us we had to go down there or else he'd kill the man. Sadly, I had to agree. We gave up, and the four of us headed down and got tied up with the rest of them.
But suddenly, a gun shot sounded and one of Carver's men were killed. In anger, Carver grabbed Walter then shot a bullet into the back of his head. Sarah cried, I held in a scream and watched as Kenny shot again. Carver proposed a deal, but Kenny didn't negotiate. So Carver brought out Alvin, aiming a gun at his head.
I couldn't let anything happen to anyone else, I screamed, "Kenny, Luke, don't shoot!" I yelled, Carver chuckled, and let Alvin go. He approached me and picked me up, aiming a gun to my skull.
There was a moment that my life flashed before my eyes, I knew Kenny well. I knew he'd do anything to save the people he loved. But for some reason, I didn't think he loved me.
"Carver, please- don't do this!" Clementine called out, I glanced back at her smiling as I remembered the good times we had together.
"Good bye, Clem. I love you." A tear rolled down our cheeks, as my world went black and my ears rang.
