Chapter Eight
"We need to find the others." Clem muttered, as Sarah and I followed her to the door.
"We can't go outside!" Sarah whispered, as Clem opened the door.
We were staring straight back at Rebecca, Alvin, Carlos, and Luke. I was surprised, and so was Clementine.
"Clem, (Y/N)!" Luke exclaimed, as everyone gathered in the kitchen.
"A man was here." Sarah said, I mentally face-palmed, "Clem and (Y/N) opened the door for him."
"Did he say what his name was?" Carlos asked.
"He said his name was George." I answered, crossing my arms.
"What did he look like?" He questioned.
"His voice was gravelly, like deep and stratchy." Clem said.
After discussing more things, we all decided that we had to leave the house before George, which his real name was William Carver and his little friends could get their hands on us.
The group of us approached the shed where Nick, Clem, and I were the night before. As Luke killed the walkers in our way, Clementine and I opened the doors. There was Nick on the ground, he asked if Luke had any asprin. I held in a laugh as the two hugged.
We started moving again and five days later we reached a bridge. Clementine and I sat on a large rock, overlooking the forest. I looked through a pair of bunoculors towards a huge house and a lift.
"See something?" Luke asked, I nodded.
"There's a large house and a lift of somekind ahead of us." I answered, the group smiled.
"Thanks, (Y/N)." He said, I nodded and handed the bonoculairs to Clementine for her to look through.
"We need to cross the bridge." Carlos began.
"We can't risk everyone at once. Clem, (Y/N), and I will sneak across and make sure it's safe before we risk the entire group." Luke said, I agreed with him.
"But the girls should stay here they're.." Carlos trailed off.
"We can do it, Carlos." I answered, Luke and Clem smiled.
Clementine and Luke talked as the three of us walked.
Once we got to the bridge, three walkers stood there. Luke took out the big walker, I took out the middle-sized one, and Clem took out the smallest one.
We finally stood on the bridge, the three of us walked quietly, and calmly. Two walkers were ahead of us. One crawled while the other stayed put. One was behind us. We were cornered. Suddenly a piece of wood fell and Luke went down but Clem and I needed to kill the walkers first. I killed the one who was after Luke while Clem got the one after both of us. We beat the last walker to death and both of us helped Luke up.
After Luke catched his breath, continued to walk. We both noticed a man with a gun heading towards us.
"Both or one of you do the talking, he wouldn't shoot either of ya." Luke assured, I rolled my eyes.
"I'd shoot me." I muttered, as the man finally spoke.
"Well, who are you?" He said.
"What do you want?" I asked, Clem already got the idea that I wanted to do the talking.
"I saw you three coming and thought I'd meet you halfway." He answered.
The man walked closer to us and smiled slightly, "You don't look like assholes. Are you assholes?" He questioned.
"We're just people." I responded.
"Fair enough. Are you three heading north?" The man said.
"Have you seen someone named Christa?" Clementine butted in, the man shrugged.
"Maybe, I don't know. Lots of people come through here. Anyways, you three look like shit. I got food and supplies back at the station." The man said.
"That's awfully nice of you. What's the catch?" Luke asked, crossing his arms.
"Oh, no catch. I've got plenty." He answered.
As he went on to explain his food amount, he slowed down his words and aimed his gun at something behind us.
We turned around to see Nick aiming his gun at our new friend. I gasped, and tried to save the man by running in front of our new friend to block the bullet, or stop Nick from shooting.
Nick still shot, and while Luke and Clem ducked under to shield themselves, I was centimeters away from getting a bullet to the skull. Time stopped as Nick's bullet flew past my (H/C) hair and into the neck of the man.
As blood fell over his clothes and the ground, the man fell backwards and off the bridge. As I watched man fall, anger rang throughout my body.
"Nick! What the fuck!" I yelled, approaching the man.
"What, where is that guy?" Nick asked, basically ignoring me.
"He had food for us! He was going to be a great addition to the group, and you just shot him- without a signal. You almost KILLED me!" I screamed, Clementine grabbed my arm- I realized how much noise I was making then and took a breath.
"How was I supposed to know?!" Nick replied, as the rest of the group approached.
I rolled my eyes and the eight of us walked until we were off the bridge and beside the small station. While the others were resting, Clementine and I headed into the small station for food the man on the bridge was talking about.
Clem tried to open a chest, but there was no key- we assumed the man that died on the bridge had it. I found a survival knife, since Clementine still had that hammer we both agreed I should have the knife for a while.
I used the knife and we opened the chest, there were two cans of food sitting in the chest. I picked up one just as Alvin walked in. He picked up the other and asked a question I knew the answer to.
"Hey, Rebecca's eating for two..I was wodnering if I could give her this and just keep it between us three?" He asked, I smiled and Clementine gave me a reassuring nod.
"Sure, Rebecca and the baby can have it." I replied, he smiled and left the two of us alone.
As the three of us left the station, the rest of the group finally noticed some walkers who most likely heard my shouting, and Nick's gun shot. So the eight of us headed up the hill towards the large cabin.
