Chapter Five

Lee, Glenn, and Carley soon came back- they seemed distant or frightened like they just saw something..disturbing. I assumed it was the walkers, and let it go.

"You two alright?" Lee soon asked us.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied.

"I'm okay." Clem responded.

"Good. (Y/N), where are your parents by the way?" Lee said.

"I don't know.. they were in my house a block down from Clem's last I knew." I responded.

"Well, maybe we can find them." He suggested.

"Maybe..but I doubt it." I said, Lee sighed and went to talk with Doug and the others.

"What'd you mean by that, (Y/N)?" Clem asked as Lee turned away.

"With these..things going around and eating people..I-I think my parents might be..one of them." I replied, holding the tears in.

Clem and I soon followed Lee into the back of the drug store and he picked up a cane.

"What's that?" Clem asked.

"This was my dad's cane. He'd zip around on it from time to time." Lee replied.

"Was he sick?" I asked.

"Nah, he was okay. I actually saw him whoop shoplifters with it. This cane has protected the store better than any guard dog ever could." He said, putting the cane down.

He then asked us to help move the desk out of the way of the door, so we helped.

As we started to move the desk, Lee asked us.

"How are you doing with all this so far?"

"I guess I'm a bit shaken up. It's so different." I responded.

"It's not good, but I think it will be okay." Clem said.

After we almost moved the desk entirely out of the way, I hurt my finger.

"Ow!" I squealed, Lee and Clem stopped.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I hurt my finger." I replied.

"Is it bleeding?" Lee questioned.

"A little bit, yeah." I responded.

"I'll get you a bandage." He lifted me up onto the desk and walked over to the first aid kit, soon coming back with a band-aid.

Lee placed it around my finger and lightly kissed the top of my injured finger.

"There you go." He said, we both smiled.

"Thanks, Lee." I said.

"You're welcome."

The three of us left the small room and then I watched as Lee and Doug headed outside of the keys from the old worker.

Clem and I heared some loud noises from the doors and saw Lee and Doug open the door and shut it quickly. I assumed they got the keys and watched from afar as Lee and Lilly entered the back of the pharmacy.

Soon there was a loud blazing alarm ringing throughout the store, I glanced as the other side of the door became louder with walkers.

Everyone began to freak out, Kenny began ordering people around. As Lee and Doug were holding the door down, Lee told Clementine to find something strong to fit through the handles as she searched, I decided to help hold the door.

I was stronger than your average eleven-year-old, after all. (Clem is eight rn, and you are two years and a few months or so older than her- since she's going to turn nine soon.)

Clementine soon came back with Lee's dad's cane, Lee reluctantly slid it through the door handles as the three of us turned to see Carley and Doug in two different spots with walkers about to kill them.

Lee had to make a choice. Should he save Carley or Doug?
