Chapter Eleven
"You two need to know how to protect yourselves." Lee said, as we all stood up.
"Like hiding or running away? Got it." Clem said, I giggled.
"No sweetpea, I mean this." Lee pulled out a pistol.
"First, don't be afraid of it. It's just a thing. Take it. Know where your finger is all the time. And don't put it on the trigger unless you want to hurt somebody." Lee said, Clem took it.
"To aim, look down the top- through that notch." Lee continued.
Lee helped Clementine shoot the bottles while I stood beside Lee and watched. She had a little work to do, but she was good, for her age and all.
"You want to try, (Y/N)?" Lee asked me, I smiled.
"Sure, but I think I can do it alone. My uncle taught me how to shoot a gun before." I explained, he smiled as Clem handed me the pistol with a grin.
I aimed at a bottle after Lee put one on the box, and pulled the trigger. The bottle shattered and Clem clapped.
"Yay, (Y/N)- you did it!" She squealed, I laughed.
Lee put up two more bottles and I shattered both of them.
"I think that's enough practice for today." Lee stated, as he took his gun back.
"Thanks, Lee." Clem said, I smiled.
"Yeah thank you, Lee." I responded, the man smiled.
"You're welcome, girls."
Later Lee was cutting Clementine's hair and spoke to her, while I sat in silence behind them- swinging my feet as the train kept moving towards Savannah.
My thoughts drifted to my family, my parents might've still been alive, or someone in my family could've been alive. I wondered if they were at home, wondering if I was dead, or if they were dead already and were roaming around the town as walkers.
After Lee was done with Clem's hair, he left to go find a map.
He came back soon and placed a map between him and Clementine, while I sat behind the map. Then we found 'The Marsh House', where Clem's parents were staying.
Once we found it, the train stopped because Kenny realized there was a gas truck that was hanging off of the highway. We all got out of the train to see it.
As Chuck and Kenny began yelling at each other, a couple at the top of the highway yelled down at us.
"If you keep screaming like that, you're gonna get your face chewed off!" A man yelled, I held in a laugh.
"Are you guys going to be trouble? Because we could've just kept walking." A woman added.
"No, we're friendly!" Lee called back up to them.
"That's what everybody says." The woman sighed.
"Let's give these guys a break." The man suggested.
"We'll see."
"You guys got a problem with your train?" The man asked.
"Yeah, you're standing in front of it." Kenny muttered.
"Dude, it's a wreck. It's not so bad from up here." One said.
Soon, Lee, Clem, and I climbed up to the couple. As Clem and I followed Lee and heard the names of the woman and man, Omid saw us and started freaking out.
"Oh man, you guys have kids!" He yelled. "What's your names?" He asked.
"She's Clementine, and I'm (Y/N)." I responded, as Clem shyly hid behind me.
"You're not their dad? He down there?" Christa asked.
"It's that obvious?" Lee questioned, "And no, he's not down there."
"Hmm, what's your story?" Christa asked.
"We've just been trying to get by together, trying to find their parents." Lee explained.
"And everybody else down there, they cool?" Christa questioned.
"Ben is young and stupid, but he's harmless." Lee said, I tilted my head in confusion, as did Clementine.
"The first two things you said don't really go with the third." Christa pointed out.
The couple explained that if anything happened that they didn't like, they'd leave us for dead and head out alone. I understood of course, but at my age people are usually nicer to people with kids.
We soon climbed back down, as Christa said she wanted to get to know Clementine and I while the others began to look for a way to get the tanker down.
"So, are you two sisters?" Christa asked, I giggled.
"No, but we do say we're sisters by choice sometimes." Clementine replied, smiling towards me.
"That's cute. You both know what's going on right?" Christa questioned, I sighed.
"Sadly yes." I said, Christa nodded.
"How old are you both?" Christa asked.
"Eight." Clementine said quickly.
"Eleven." I said calmly, Christa seemed taken aback.
"You two are pretty young." She pointed out.
"Yeah, we are." I muttered.
"How did you two find Lee?" Christa questioned.
"We were in my treehouse, then a man went into my house after (Y/N) and I fled to escape the monster. Then Lee found a walkie-talkie in the house and introduced himself, we went down to help him when the babysitter attacked him." Clem explained.
"It is a bit different, than how you usually meet someone." I said, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly.
"Very true."
Soon Clem noticed Lee heading towards the station, so she told me to follow her and we approached Lee- asking if we could follow him to the station.
He obviously said yes and we followed. When we got there Clem got right to the point and tried to open the door, we noticed a window open above it so Lee put her on his shoulders and she looked inside.
Lee started talking about how Kenny would make him pick the lock while Clem reached down and unlocked the door.
