Chapter 5

Jess is already smart enough to use her sweater as a bandage, so all we need to do is get out. By some miracle, Jess is able to keep up. Although we unfortunately get lost. We come to a hallway designed with gold and dark wood. We see a man coming down the hallway, so Jess and I duck into a room.

"We should be safe here for a while." I lean against the door, listening for others. Jess turns around and gasps.

"Or not."

I turn around to see Ally, still in her dress. "I told you to leave. I was going to break Jess out in secret."

"Well, unlike some people, I don't forget everyone that left me." I scoff.

"I'm so sorry. I'll try not to get kidnapped in the future." She says in a rude tone.

"Guys, stop. Ally, can you get us out? All we need is to get to the hospital. Then we can help you get out of this." Jess stops the fight, like she always does.

"I don't want to get out of this." She turns around.

"Somehow, I don't believe that. As risky as you used to be, you still fainted at the sight of your own blood. Something tells me that you don't like seeing people dead." Jess goes on.

Ally looks down sadly. "I've never seen the bodies. Only heard the gunshots."

"I hate you." I tell her.

"Gee, thanks." She says sarcastically.

"But I know you aren't a bad person. You're still my sister, and I know you don't like death." I pause.

"I can't handle the screams." There we go. One look at Jess and we both know that she's letting her walls down.

"Ally, if you want out, tell us." Jess puts a hand on Ally's shoulder.

"I want out."

"Alright. Then show us out." I say.

Ally opens her window and points to the roof. "You want us to climb down the roof?"

"It's the only way out." She rolls her eyes.

"You may have been risky, but I'm not." I tease her.

"Well, I'm going to suffer too. I have to climb around in this dress." she gestures to all of herself, then the window. "Ladies first?"

"You're a lady too!" I point out.

"Guys, are you coming?" Ally and I look out the window. Jess is already on the ground.

"How did she get by us without us seeing her?" Ally asks me.

"You learn a lot in two years." I say while going out the window.

"Once again, kidnapped."

I get down the roof, with Ally following close behind. We hit the ground, and Ally stops.

"WAIT!" Jess and I look back at her. She kicks off her heels. "Let's go."

We get far enough from the building with little trouble, and we get to a hospital. They fix up Jess's arm, but when they ask why Jess has a gunshot wound OVER a gunshot wound. But Ally drags me away.

"Don't say anything." She says.

"What? No!"  I walk back to the nurse, but Ally holds me back.

"They'll tell the cops. And the cops won't do anything. They will treat you, me, and- well not Jess, she's wounded, but they'll treat us like enemies. Especially me." Ally explains.

"Oh, it's ALL about you, isn't it? I mean, who cares about me or Jess? I'm sure she can just walk off a gunshot wound." I put my hands on my hips.

"Don't talk like that. You know I care about Jess." Ally defends herself.

"You don't care about us. Did you know that mom had another kid? Yeah, he's a boy. Jake."

"Yeah, mom was pregnet when I got kidnapped.  But I do care. It's not like I don't think about them. I care about mom, dad, you, Jake, and Jess." Ally tries to explain everything, but I brush it off.

"Maybe a little too much. You were always so desperate to be friends with her. Why can't you just let me have my own friends without having to steal them?" I scoff rudely.

"I don't 'steal' people." She gets a little too close to my face, so I push her off.

"Well, you were part of a gang that is heavily involved with human trafficking. which reminds me, thanks for almost getting Jess into the business." I get a little more rude.

"Would you rather me let her die?" She turns away angrily.

"She should have been able to make the choice herself. But you got involved with the gang that knocks out victims."

"Shouldn't they all do that?" Ally wonders aloud.

"Of course you would know." I huff.

"I. Was. Kidnapped." She says for the fiftieth time today.

"My fight breaking up senses are tingling." Jess breaks into the conversation, almost tearing us apart, being very careful not to spill the ginger ale she just acquired. "Asia, she has a point, the cops won't do anything, you told me. I think our best option is to get back asap, then tell our parents. Ally can provide the proof, and they're adults, they can handle it for us." She sighs, annoyed. "Although I still lost my purse. Kind of angry."

"There's something I have to do first, before we tell anyone. I have to tell Ben that I'm leaving." My eyes go wide. Jess drops her ginger ale, but comes to her senses just in time to catch it, because Jess would never sacrifice her precious ginger ale.

"WHAT!?" I yell, turning a few heads. Jess mouths the word, 'sisters,' as if she's explaining why we're fighting, which makes everyone turn away. "You are insane!"

"As bad as his family is, he's not that bad. And if I don't say something, he and his gang are going to come after me. All I ask is that I tell him. That's it.'

I sigh. "Fine. But if you get in danger, we leave."

"Asia!" Jess scolds me.

"No, it's fine. Deal." Ally leaves the building, Jess following close behind.
