Chapter 4
The white van stops in a parking garage. I duck just enough so that they won't see me through the front window. They open the back, as a fist comes from the back into one of their faces. He jumps back, letting Jess bolt out, (guess she came to,) but it doesn't last long. Another man puts a cloth over her mouth. Jess goes limp. I want to get out and shoot them all, but I decided on the way that that wouldn't be such a good idea.
One man holds up Jess's limp body while the other holds out a gun. I'm about to jump out, who cares that they're all armed and have practice. But then Ali comes out and stops them. The men object, but Ali takes off Jess's sweater. She has a bar code drawn on her shoulder. The men lower their guns and pause. After a painful long 5 seconds, the man with the gun points them in a direction. Luckily, they all leave, allowing me to act out my plan.
Maybe I should explain why Jess has a bar code drawn on her shoulder. See, she recently did a speech on human trafficking. (When people are kidnapped and then sold.) She wanted the bonus marks for costumes, so she wore a shirt that had a tear on her shoulder, and just to really dig her point in, she asked me to draw a bar code on it. Ironically, I did a speech on the Warren Gang, and they sometimes participate in human trafficking. Ali must have convinced them that she was a victim of theirs.
I take a look out the window, seeing at least three cameras. I shoot them out. Then I bolt out of the van.
In the hallway, I'm able to catch up to the men with Jess, just before they lock a door, which I assume is holding her. I hold my breath and shoot both men, 4 cameras, and the lock. I open the door, just to be greeted by a fist to the face. I stop it the second time and point a gun at the person attached to it. Jess launches herself out of the shadows into my arms.
"I don't get it, how did you become so awake? I saw the chloroform-" I asked.
Jess cuts me off. "They slapped me around, shot a gun to wake me up, and then..." She looks down, rolling her shoulder.
Oh no.
On the shoulder of Jess's pristine white shirt, is a big bloodstain.
"They didn't.." I can barley breathe. Jess shows me the shoulder underneath the bloodstain. They did.
They reopened her wound from when Ali was kidnapped.
