Chapter 2
Jess sits me down on the bed. "Calm down, you're just seeing things."
"No, I SAW Ally." I get up and look out the window again.
"Asia, think about it. Ally's dead. How could you see her?"
"She's not dead, just kidnapped." I said.
"Well, let's go to the police, then. It's one of our stops." Jess said before a teacher walked into the room.
"Come on, girls! We're going to the art museum!" The teacher yelled excitedly.
"AFTER we go to the art museum."Jess practically drags me out of the room and down the street.
Once we get to the museum, I try to distract myself and have fun, but I can't. I know I saw Ally, I swear. I keep my eye out for her, just in case. Jess tries her best to distract me, with limited results.
Then we FINALLY got a tour of the police station. I asked the teacher if I could talk to one of them, because I saw something I thought they should see. (That's not lying, right?) She did say yes, and lead me to an officer.
"Sir, I saw a missing person, and would like to report it." I ask politely.
"Sure, what is the missing person's name?" He brings out a sheet of paper.
"Ally Flood." The police officer's eyes go wide. He puts the paper back.
"I'm sorry, you must be mistaken, Ally Flood is dead." He says a little too calmly.
"But I saw her-"
"I suggest you forget about this. The people that took Ms. Flood... they are dangerous. Stay away from this. Forget what you saw." He leans back. "Thank you, we will address this as soon as possible." He says that, but I know he only does because he has to.
When we get back into our room, it's lights out. Almost everyone is asleep, but Jess and I aren't yet. Jess waited up for me, right there in her jeans.
"How'd it go?" She asks.
I take off my sweater. "Terrible. Apparently, the people that took Ally are so dangerous that the police doesn't want to get involved. Oh, yeah. And she's dead."
"Well, kidnappers usually ARE dangerous, but Ally is an innocent." Jess thinks out loud.
"Yeah, he acted like ALLY was the dangerous one. But she's dead." I huff.
"Maybe she is..." Jess thinks out loud again.
"Dead?" I guess.
"No, maybe Ally IS the dangerous one. She's a fighter, she could have killed the men that took her." Jess stands up.
"No way. Not Ally. As much as I hated her, she wouldn't do that." I defend Ally for the first time in my life.
"Well, I know you. I know you saw her. So if they won't help, I saw WE look for her." Jess puts on her grey hoodie and peeks out the door. "You coming?"
"I must be crazy." I pack my bag quickly. Cheep spy sunglasses with the reflective sides, $50, and
After playing hide and seek with the teachers, Jess and I make it down to the lobby. Seeing a janitor, Jess and I bolt into the room that says 'banquet hall, PRIVATE.'
The room is obviously booked, Before the door slams, Jess drags me underneath a table with with a tablecloth. We hear a few mumbles, but other than that, no one says anything. We're obviously trapped until they all leave, so Jess peeks out the tablecloth to see what's going on. I join her to see a bunch of nicely-dressed men and women. Then men are all wearing black tuxedos, the women all wear tightly fitting formal dresses in various shades of red.
"They look like the Canadian mafia or something." I whisper. Luckily, no one hears me, because they're all distracted by a 14-year-old boy walking up to a podium, who looks a bit like the boy who I thought was talking to Ally, but since I only saw the top of his head, I can't tell.
"Thank you all for coming! As you all know, not only have we achieved our goal this month, but I am honoured to be hosting this party!" A few people clap.
"First, I would like to give a special thanks to My father, who got me into this business, my friends and brother, who helped me 'raise' the money," A few people chuckle. "And I would like to thank my girlfriend, who not only put together this party for us, but devoted so much of her life to our 'organization' at such a young age. Would you come on up?" A girl walks up to the stage while people applaud. She wears a short, puffy, dark dress dress with sliver sequins in her hair, which is done up beautifully.
Then she turns around.
It's Ally.
