A Hard Days Night
"Brielle! Come on! You're going to be late for school!" Rumor yells for the 8 year old.
A few seconds later the child stomps down the stairs, pajamas still on and a pout on her face, "I don't want to go to school."
"Bri, sweetie." Rumor sighs, bending down so she reaches the younger girls height, "I know it's hard right now. You're parents accident was just a couple of weeks ago. But I can't keep you out anymore. And I start my job today. Grace can't be here until after school so you have to go."
"I can stay by myself. I'm old enough to!"
"That's not the problem, you can't keep missing school. You're teachers know what happened but the state is going to start getting mad at me and you can get taken away. So please get dressed and let me drive you to school."
Brielle hesitates, "They can do that? Take me away?"
"Yeah, if they think I can't take care of you. So you need to go, okay?"
The young girl nods, "Okay, I'm sorry Auntie."
"You don't need to apologize. I know how hard this is, I lost my sister. But we're both strong and we are going to have a great day."
Brielle puts on a brave face and nods back to her Aunt. She then turns around and runs upstairs. As she waits for her niece, Rumor looks around the house that she now calls hers.
It was her sisters and brother-in-laws. When they got in the car crash that ended their lives she didn't have it in her heart to remove Brielle from the house and town she grew up in so instead she accepted the intern position at Seattle Grace Hospital and moved across the country.
Fast-forward to now, as Rumor stands by the front door and Brielle runs back down the stairs to meet her. "Okay, I'm ready." Rumor messes the girls hair up and pulls the door open as the two head out to start their days.
*_*_*_*_*_*
Arriving at the hospital Rumor steps into a room filled with other interns. They chat happily to each other as she steps off towards the side, not in the mood to interact. A doctor starts talking, "Each of you comes here hopeful. Wanting in on the game." From the corner of her eye she sees another intern enter the room.
Rumors only thought running through her head was that being late on the first day is a horrible first impression. She quickly refocuses, listening to the man in front of her, "A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition."
Rumor turns her head towards the others, but immediately believes that she doesn't have competition. Some may think this is cocky, but she graduated top of her class from Harvard and has hyperthymesia which allows her to recall every day of her life. It's very beneficial for her since she can remember procedures in detail just like it's the first time she's being taught them.
After skimming the room, her attention is brought back to the doctor, "Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play? That's up to you."
Once dismissed the interns make their way to their locker room. Rumor quickly finds her locker and starts getting into her scrubs. She feels eyes on her and turns to glare at an intern who is clearly checking her out. "Eyes to yourself."
"What? I'm just studying anatomy." The male replies.
"Well, go study yourself." Rumor rolls her eyes as she sits down on the bench to tie her shoes.
"Only six women out of twenty." She hears another intern say.
Rumor looks up as another replies, "Yeah. I hear one of them's a model. Seriously, like that's going to help with the respect thing?"
"Maybe she had a reason for it and you shouldn't be so judgmental." Rumor snaps at the Korean intern.
"Are you the model?" The girl replies.
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Before the girl can respond, the one who started the conversation interrupts, "You're Christina, right?" She asks the Korean who nods in response. "And you're Rumor?"
Rumor nods and waits for the conversation to continue, "Which resident you assigned to? I got Bailey." Christina asks.
"The Nazi? Yeah, me too. I'm Meredith by the way."
"I got her too." I respond.
Before the others can say something another intern speaks up, "You got the Nazi? So did I. At least we'll be tortured together, right? I'm George O'Malley, uh, we met at the mixer, you had a black dress with a slit up the side, strappy sandals."
He trails off as Christina and Meredith exchange looks. Rumor tilts her head in question as he continues, "Now you think I'm gay."
Christina turns to walk away and Meredith brings her attention back to her lockers, "No, I'm not gay, it's, ah, it's just that, you know, you were, I mean, you were very, unforgettable."
This causes Rumor to lightly laugh, "Quit while you're ahead there Georgie."
She pats him on the shoulder as a doctor reads out, "O'Malley, Reyes, Yang, Grey, Stevens."
We all make our way to the doctor as Christina asks, "Bailey?"
"End of the hall." The doctor gestures down the hall so they all step out and look for the Doctor that will be in charge of them for the next year.
"That's the Nazi?" Christina asks as the group spots a short black women.
"I thought the Nazi would be a guy." George says.
"That's sexist." Rumor replies under her breath.
"I thought the Nazi would be... the Nazi." Meredith says, causing Rumor to give her a look.
"Maybe it's professional jealousy." A pretty blonde intern speaks up, "Maybe she's brilliant, and they call her Nazi because they're jealous. Maybe she's nice."
"Let me guess. You're the model." Christina says to the blonde.
"Did you just think I was the model?" Rumor questions with an eyebrow raised.
Choosing to ignore the two comments, the blonde walks closer to Dr. Bailey and smiled, extending her hand. "Hi, I'm Isabel Stevens, but everyone calls me Izzie."
Dr. Bailey looks her up and down but doesn't respond or shake her hand. She instead starts speaking, addressing all of the interns in her group. "I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one, don't bother sucking up, I already hate you, that's not going to change."
She gestures to a variety of objects on a bench, "Trauma protocol, phone lists, pagers. Nurses will page you, you answer every page at a run." She starts walking with the interns following closely behind, "A run, that's rule number two. Your first shift starts now and lasts forty-eight hours. You're interns, grunts, nobodies, bottom of the surgical food chain, you run labs, write orders, work every second right 'til you drop and don't complain!"
Bailey opens a door with a couple of bunk beds, "On call rooms. Attendings hog them, sleep when you can, where you can, which brings me to rule number three, if I'm sleeping, don't wake me, unless your patient is actually dying. Rule number four, the dying patient better not be dead when I get there, not only would you have killed someone, you would have also woke me for no good reason, we clear?"
Meredith raises her hand, "Yes?" Bailey asks her.
"You said five rules. That was only four." Once the question leaves her mouth Bailey's pager beeps.
"Rule number five. When I move, you move." Bailey runs down the hall with the interns right behind her. She shouts for people to get out of their way.
"What've we got?" Bailey asks the paramedic when they arrive.
The paramedic's are pushing a teen girl into the hospital on a stretcher, "Katie Bryce, fifteen-year-old female, new onset seizure, intermittent for the past week, ID lost en route, started grand mal seizing as we descended.
"Alright, get her on her side, Izzie, ten milligrams Diazepam." Izzie reaches for the wrong lead, "No, no, the white lead is on the right, righty whitey, smoke over fire, a large bore I.V. don't let the blood haemolyse, let's go!"
Izzie quickly injects her correctly and Katie stops seizing just as a new doctor walks up.
"So I heard we got a wet fish on dry land?" He says to Bailey.
"Absolutely Dr. Burke."
"Dr. Bailey, I'm going to shotgun her."
Bailey addresses the interns, "That means every test in the book, CT, CBC, chem, seven tux screen, Christina you're on labs, George, patient workups, Rumor and Meredith, work together on Katie, get her in for a CT, she's your responsibility now."
"Wait, what about me?" Izzie asks, not hearing her name.
"You. Honey, you get to do rectal exams."
*_*_*_*_*_*
Meredith and Rumor step into an elevator as the roll Katie through the hospital. "You're lost." Katie speaks up.
"We are not lost. How are you feeling?" Meredith asks.
"How do you think I'm feeling? I'm missing my pageant."
"You're in a pageant?" Rumor asks.
"The Spokane Teen Miss? I was in the top ten after the first two rounds. This is my year. I could've won." Katie then sits up and notices that she's being wheeled around the same way. "Hello? You're both lost. What are you, like, new?"
Meredith and Rumor exchange a look as they finally head towards the right direction. Once they get Katie into he CT scan the teenager starts telling them more about her pageants, "I twisted my ankle. I do rhythmic gymnastics, which is like, really cool. Nobody else does it. And I tripped over my ribbon, and I didn't get stuck with someone this clueless. And that was like, a nurse."
Once lunch hits Meredith and Rumor grab food and make their way to the interns under Bailey. As they make their way over the same guy from the locker room calls out to Rumor, "Hey princess, Why don't you come join us over here."
Rumor smiles sweetly at the group of inters and holds up her fork, "I'd rather stab my eyes out with this fork."
"Do you get that a lot?" Meredith asks.
"More often than I would like."
As we approach the table, we over hear the end of the conversation, "All I need is one good case." Christina says to the others.
"Katie Bryce is a pain in the ass." Meredith announces as her and Rumor sit down, "If I hadn't taken the Hippocratic oath, I'd Kevorkian her with my bare hands."
Once she sees everyone giving her weird looks she asks, "What?"
Not getting the chance to reply, Dr. Burke gets everyone's attention, "Good afternoon interns. It's posted, but I thought I'd share the good news personally. As you know, the honor of performing the first surgery is reserved for the intern that shows the most promise. As I'm running the OR today, I get to make that choice."
He stands behind George and claps him on the back as he finishes, "George O'Malley. You'll scrub in for an adipectomy this afternoon. Congratulations."
"Me?" George asks as Burke leaves, "Did he just say me?"
Rumor smiles brightly at the shocked boy in front of her, "Yes he did. Congrats, Georgie."
*_*_*_*_*_*
Meredith and Rumor step into Katie's room to check on her. They see a man and a woman talking to the teenager, "Katie, honey, mom and dad are here."
"They gave her a sedative for the CT scan, so she's a little groggy." Meredith tells the couple.
"Will she be alright?" The mother asks.
"Our doctor at home said she might need an operation, is that true?" The father asks a follow up question.
"What kind of operation?" The mother asks another, not letting Meredith or Rumor answer.
Hearing all the questions at once, Meredith panics, "She's, um, well, you know what, I'm not, I'm not the doctor, uh, I'm a doctor, but I'm not Katie's Doctor."
"Dr. Grey." Rumor interrupts. Meredith stops and looks towards Rumor, "Why don't you go find the lead doctor while I stay here and answer the questions that I can."
Meredith nods in thanks then heads out of the room, "Sorry about that. We're both interns helping the other doctor with Katie. So far we aren't sure what's causing her seizures but we are doing everything we can to find out what's wrong."
"To answer your questions about the operation, I don't have that answer for you but hopefully the attending will when he gets here to talk with you both. Your daughter is in good hands and we will be working as long as we can to help her."
"Thank you so much Dr." The mother trails off, not knowing Rumor's name.
"Dr. Reyes."
"Thank you Dr. Reyes."
"It's my pleasure."
*_*_*_*_*_*
After leaving Katie's room Rumor makes her way towards the operation room, "Good luck, Georgie! I'll be cheering you on, okay? So if you get nervous, look for me."
George smiles, nerves already showing, "Thanks Rumor. That means a lot."
"No problem, you got this."
She walks away from him to enter the observation deck. As soon as she enters she hears the other interns conversation, "He's going to faint. He's a fainter."
"Nah, code brown. Right in his pants."
"He's all about the flops, he's going to sweat himself unsterile."
"Ten bucks says he messes up the McBird."
Christina joins the conversation, "Twenty says he cries."
Rumor rolls her eyes, "What the hell is wrong with all of you? He's one of us. Have a little faith."
The others look on in shock but an intern speaks up, not caring about what Rumor said, "I'll put twenty on a total meltdown."
Meredith speaks up, "Fifty says he pulls the whole thing off."
This quiets the group down once more, "Rumor is right, that's one of us down there. The first one of us. Where's your loyalty?"
There's a brief pause then Christina continues once more, "Seventy-five says he can't even ID the appendix."
"I'll take that action." Izzie says, joining the group.
Rumor shakes her head as the interns become silent focusing in on the procedure starting. George takes the scalpel causing the inters to cheer for him. Burke motions for them to shut up instantly cutting off the sound.
The interns watch as George cuts into the patient, he gets a quick correction from Burke but doesn't need much guidance. "Dam, he got the peritoneum and he opened him up." One of the interns say.
"I told you, he's going to pull it off." Meredith replies.
The group continues watching as George takes the appendix out. They cheer and wait as the procedure continues. The listen to an exchange between Burke and George and notice that the intern in question clams up.
"He's choking." Christina announces.
"Come on, George." Meredith and Rumor mumble together.
One of the interns, the one that keeps trying to flirt with Rumor speaks up as Burke takes George's place, "007."
Another intern agrees, "007, yeah, that's a total 007."
"What's 007 mean?" Izzie asks.
"Licensed to kill." Meredith answers.
*_*_*_*_*_*
Dr. Bailey's interns all sit on spare hospital beds in an empty corridor. Rumor lays down on one by herself as she hears George sigh, "007. They're calling me 007, aren't they?"
"No one's calling you 007." Izzie and Meredith quickly reply.
"I was on the elevator and Murphy whispered 007."
Christina begins to complain, "Oh, how many times do we have to go through this, George, five, ten? Give me a number or else I'm going to hit you."
"Murphy whispered 007 and everyone laughed."
"He wasn't talking about you." Izzie tries to reassure him.
"You sure?"
"Would we lie to you?" Meredith asks.
"Yes. Rumor wouldn't but she's not answering."
"Yeah. They're calling you 007." Rumor deadpans.
George gestures to the girl laying across from him. Christina speaks up once more, "007 is a state of mind."
"So says the girl who finished top of her class at Stanford." George grumbles.
Rumor's and Meredith's pagers beep before the conversation could continue. "Oh man. It's 911 for Katie Bryce. We gotta go." Meredith says speaking to Rumor.
The two take off running towards Katie's room. When they get there Katie is sitting up in bed reading a magazine. "Took you long enough." Katie says.
"You're okay? The nurse paged us 911." Meredith says, exasperated.
"I had to go all Exorcist to get her to even pick up the phone."
"So there's nothing wrong with you?" Rumor asks the teenager.
"I'm bored."
"You little. We're not cruise directors." Meredith scolds the girl.
"You don't have to wig out. The pageant's supposed to be on cable, but this crappy hospital doesn't get the channel. If that cow Kylie Wood is gonna walk off with my crown, I have to see it. Can you call someone?"
Rumor sighs and shakes her head as Meredith answers once more, "Okay. This is an actual hospital. There are sick people here. Go to sleep, and stop wasting our time."
"But I can't sleep. My head's all full." Katie complains.
"Yes, that's called thinking. If you can't sleep go with it. Or keep reading your magazine. You'll get tired eventually, Katie." Rumor says.
The two interns turn and walk out of the room, leaving Katie by herself.
*_*_*_*_*_*
Once more Rumor sits on a spare hospital bed in an empty corridor. This time she's alone and trying to sleep. Just as she is about to fall asleep her pager beeps. It's another 911 for Katie Bryce. She's tempted to walk but knows better, this time it could be real.
Just as she suspected the 911 was real, nurses rushing into Katie's room beside her. Meredith, Dr. Bailey, or Dr. Shepherd are no where to be seen. "Let's try 2mg. Diazepam. She's already full on Prazepam, right?"
"She's had 4mg." A nurse replies.
Meredith enters the room and moves to pick up Katie's chart. "What took you so long?" A nurse voices Rumor's thoughts.
"Did you page Dr. Bailey and Dr. Shepherd?" Meredith asks.
"The Prazepam's not working." A nurse states.
"Phenobarbital, load her with Phenobarbital."
"Pheno's in." A nurse confirms.
"No change." Another replies.
"Have you paged Dr. Shepherd?" Meredith asks once more.
"Dammit, Grey! Yes, if that's all you're focused on leave." Rumor scolds the panicked intern.
Before anyone can reply a beeping is heard from the heart monitor. "Heart's stopped!" A nurse exclaims.
Another nurse pushes the button for a code blue, "Stand back. Go find Dr. Bailey or Dr. Shepherd." Rumor tells Meredith. She then takes the defibrillators from a nurse. "Charge pulse of two hundred."
"Charged. Clear." Rumor defibs but nothing happens.
"Charge to 300." When that doesn't work she tells the nurse, "Charge to 360."
She then mumbles, "Come on Katie.
"49 seconds." A nurse states.
Another nurse tells Rumor, "At 60 seconds you're supposed to admit her."
"Charge again." The nurse doesn't move. "Charge again." Rumor repeats. When the nurse listens and Rumor defibs Katie once more she asks the nurse, "Anything?"
"I see sinus rhythm." A nurse says.
The other nurse continues, "Blood pressure's coming up."
"Alright now. Pressure's returning. Grid's coming back."
At this moment Dr. Shepherd runs in with Meredith. "What the hell happened?" He exclaims.
"She had a seizure and-" Meredith replies, clearly not getting the chance to tell him as they made they're way to the room.
"A seizure?"
"Her heart stopped, Dr. Shepherd. I got her stabilized." Rumor replies, bringing his attention to her.
"Weren't you both supposed to be monitoring her?"
"We were alternating every half hour, it was Meredith's turn. She was perfectly fine when I last checked on her."
This makes Meredith speak up, "I did check on her and she-"
"I got it. Just go, Dr. Grey." Dr. Shepherd says in reply, sending Meredith out of the room. "Can someone hand me her chart?" Rumor reaches over to hand Shepherd Katie's chart. He starts to look it over to try and figure out what he can do to help.
*_*_*_*_*_*
Hours later Dr. Shepherd called all of the interns into a room. Rumor stopped at the back wall near Christina and George. Once Meredith saw us she asked Christina, "What are you doing?"
"I'm suturing a banana, with the vain hope that it wakes up my brain." She replies.
George laughed at the response, "What're you smiling at, 007?" This causes him to quickly stop laughing and look at Christina with a frown. "I'm sorry, I get mean when I'm tired."
"You know what? I don't care. I comforted a family, and I get to hang out in the OR today. All is well." George says.
"So why are we here? Do any of you know?" Rumor asks the group around her.
Without getting the chance to answer, Dr. Shepherd enters the room. "Well, good morning. I'm going to do something pretty rare for a surgeon, I'm going to ask interns for help. I've got this kid, Katie Bryce. Right now, she's a mystery. She doesn't respond to her meds. Labs are clean, scans are pure, but she's having seizures. Grand mal seizures with no visible cause."
Shepherd pauses, gauging the reactions to those in the room. "She's a ticking clock. She's going to die if I don't make a diagnosis. Which is where you come in. I can't do it alone. I need your extra minds, extra eyes, I need you to play detective, I need you to find out why Katie is having seizures. I know you're tired, you're busy, you've got more work than you could possibly handle. I understand. So, I'm going to give you an incentive. Whichever two people find the answer rides with me. Katie needs surgery. You get to do what no interns get to do. Scrub in to assist on an advanced procedure. Dr. Bailey's going to hand you Katie's chart. The clock is ticking fast, people. If we're going to save Katie's life, we have to do it soon."
In this moment, Rumor was beyond happy that she has hyperthymesia. She quickly thought back to all of the conversations she has had with the girl as she was going over her chart. She scanned through possible causes of mal seizures in books and within an hour she had an answer.
"Dr. Shepherd! I think I know what's causing Katie's seizures." Rumor ran up to him.
"Walk and talk, Reyes. What is it?" Dr. Shepherd says.
"I think it's an aneurysm. And I know that might sound crazy because there's no headaches, no neck pain, her CT's clean, there's no medical proof of one but when Meredith and I were talking to her she told us how she does beauty pageants and when she was practicing she twisted her ankle and fell."
"There are no medical indicators."
"I know but she fell, Dr. Shepherd. There may not even be a bump on her head but there have been greater medical mysteries."
"The chances that a minor fall could burst an aneurysm is one in a million!" Shepherd pauses, looking at Rumor. "Let's go."
"Where are we going?"
"To see if she's one in a million."
*_*_*_*_*_*
Just as the duo were making their way to the elevators, Meredith and Christina run up to them. "Dr. Shepherd! Just one moment, um, Katie competes in beauty pageants-" Christina starts.
"I know that, but we have to save her life anyway." Dr. Shepherd replies, causing Rumor to smirk. "If you found out what's wrong with her just spit it out. Because Dr. Reyes, here thinks she already knows so we're on our way to check it out."
"We think she has an aneurysm. We know that there is no medical proof but she twisted her ankle and fell when rehearsing for a pageant." Meredith says.
"Well, you reached the same conclusion that Rumor did. Let's go see if it's true."
A few moments later the four stand around each other looking at a scan of Katie's brain. "I'll be damned." Shepherd mutters.
The scan shows a few tiny dark spots. "It's minor, but it's there. It's a cerebachnoid hemorrhage. She's bleeding into her brain."
They quickly make their way out of the room so they can get an OR prepped. "She could've gone her entire life without it ever being a problem. One tap in the right spot-"
When Shepherd trails off, Christina continues, "And explode."
"Exactly. Now I have to fix it. You three did great work. Love to stay and kiss your asses, but I gotta tell Katie's parents she's having surgery." He pauses to talk to a receptionist, "Katie Byrce's chart, please."
"Here you go." She says as she hands it to him.
"Oh, and Dr. Shepherd, you said the you'd pick two people to scrub in if we helped." Christina adds.
"Oh, yes. Um, unfortunately I can't take all three of you. Rumor you approached me first so I'll see you in there." He pauses quickly looking between the other two. "Meredith, I'll see you there as well."
He turns to walk away, leaving behind a very happy Rumor, a flustered Meredith, and an extremely pissed off Christina.
*_*_*_*_*_*
Meredith and Rumor stand beside Dr. Shepherd as he begins the shaving Katie's head. "I promised I'd make her look cool. Apparently being a bald beauty queen is the worst thing that happened in the history of the world." Shepherd whispers to the two interns.
"Of course it is. You can't tell me there's something worse." Rumor playfully replies, causing the attending to smile.
"Did you choose me for the surgery because I slept with you?" Meredith asks.
Rumor's mouth falls open in shock at the news, "Yes." Shepherd replies with a brief pause, "I'm kidding."
"I'm not going to scrub in for surgery. You should ask Christina. She really wants it."
"You're Katie's doctor. You both are. And on your first day, with very little training, you helped save her life. You earned the right to follow her case to the finish. You... you shouldn't let the fact that we had sex get in the way of you taking your shot."
Once the two girls walked away from Shepherd, Rumor turns to Meredith. "You and Shepherd slept together?"
"Yes, before I knew who he was." Meredith replies. "I need fresh air."
*_*_*_*_*_*
As Meredith went outside for some air Rumor made her way to view a chart of another one of her patients. She started overhearing a heated discussion between Dr. Webber, the head of the hospital, and Alex Karev, the intern that keeps trying to flirt with her.
"Name the common causes of post-op fever." Webber quizzes Alex.
Alex stumbles over his words and tries to pull out a notebook, "From your head. Not from a book. Don't look it up, learn it, it should be in your head. Name the common causes of post-op fever."
More loudly, Webber calls out, "Can anybody name the common causes of post-op fever?"
Without hesitating, Rumor answers, "Wind, water, wound, walking, wonder drugs. The five Ws. Most of the time it's wind, splinting or pneumonia. Pneumonia's easy to assume, especially if you're too busy to do the tests."
Webber turns to Alex to give him a pointed look then turns back to Rumor, "What do you think's wrong with 4B?"
"The fourth W, walking. I think she's a prime candidate for a pulmonary ambulus."
"How would you diagnosis?"
"Spiral CT, VQ scan, provide O2, dose with Heparin, and consult for an IVC filter."
Webber turns to Alex, "Do exactly as she says, then tell your resident that I want you off this case." He then turns back to Rumor, "I remember your file, when you took a while to accept I was nervous we missed out. Welcome to the gang."
*_*_*_*_*_*
Standing beside Dr. Shepherd and Meredith, Rumor was excited to be able to scrub into Katie's surgery and get the thought of Meredith sleeping with an attending out of her head. "Alright everybody, it's a beautiful night to save lives, let's have some fun." Shepherd announces to the room.
Meredith and Rumor watch on in amazement as Derek performs the surgery on the teenager.
Once the surgery is finished the 48 hour shift is over. Rumor sighs as she gathers her things to finally head home.
"Hey Grace." Rumor says as she makes her way to the kitchen, greeting Brielle's nanny.
"Hi, had a good first shift?" Grace asks.
Rumor smiles, "I did. There were some difficulties but I enjoyed it. How has Brielle been? I feel terrible that I couldn't come home last night."
"She's alright. She misses you so she'll be excited to see you tomorrow morning."
"She's getting her school work done? Didn't give you any issues?"
"Rumor, I understand why you're worried but you should know that she's a great kid. She never gives me any problems when I watch her."
"I know, but with everything that's happened recently I just-"
"I know, darling. But she's okay, she's getting better every day."
"Yeah you're right." Rumor smiles at the older women. "Well, I need to get some rest. Feel free to stay the night, though I'm sure you're looking forward to going back to your apartment."
"Go to bed. I'll see you later." With those parting words, Rumor headed off to bed finally getting the rest she deserved.
