XXXIX. THE LUCKY ONE

Sirene was lucky that she had so many people that cared for her, with her friends she never once thought of how her life could've been if only her parents hadn't been so tough of Sirius and Sirene. Maybe they would've been as tight knit of a family as the Potters are.

      Sirene loved Euphemia and Fleamont with all her heart, she thought they were just adorable. James took up after her mother a lot, apparently his mother was quite the prankster in her days and his father was the one who kept her in check.

      They looked after Sirius and Sirene as if they were one of their own, Sirene appreciated that very much, and the food was also a plus - turns out Fleamont is into cooking, it's 'his thing' as he calls it. Every week he cooks something new after watching some kind of show about it on the muggle screen where the humans talk, it's called a television, Sirene thinks.

       The summer was simply the best one Sirene had ever had, Euphemia Potter gave her the maternal love Walburga failed to give. Fleamont Potter was the only sane one in the family, his words not Sirene's, but from what Sirene could tell he loved his family more than anything in the world.

      James, well he was amazing, he never once made Sirius and Sirene feel like they didn't belong there, he treated them as if they were part of the family, even going as far to call them his siblings, lightheartedly but the twins appreciated it anyway.

      "Sirene, darling, have you got your trunk?" Euphemia asked the girl who smiled in return holding up the trunk to show the woman.

      "Of course, Mia" Sirene said chuckling, "How could I forget my trunk on the way to Hogwarts?"

      "Living with James, anything seems possible" Fleamont answered as his son passed him an offended look, "Take care, all of you"

      "And write to us" Euphemia said pulling Sirene into a hug that Sirene returned, she was getting better at that, "Every week"

      "I'll write twice a week, if you want" Sirene said to Mia who smiled in return, "See you at Christmas break"

      "Bye, Mia!" Sirius said waving to the woman and then giving Fleamont a mock salute.

      "Bye, mum" James said pulling his mother in a hug and then giving her a kiss on the cheek, "Bye, dad" Fleamont pulled his son into one of those guy hugs.

      "Bye, Mia and Fleamont!" Sirene called out walking away with a final wave to the couple.

      Just as she turned around she was met with arms around her body, she chuckled lightly hugging the blonde back, "Hey, Marley!"

     "Sirene!" Marlene said excitedly, "So much happened over the summer, I have to tell you all about it!"

      "You can" Sirene said walking with the blonde to the train, "But unfortunately I've got a prefect meeting to attend"

      "You?" Marlene said pausing to look at Sirene who shrugged, "You're a prefect? Merlin, what was Dumbledore thinking?"

      "Hey! Wasn't my fault that the old prefect was a puss- wuss and dipped because of a pureblood supremacist being on the rise" Sirene said with her eyebrows furrowed, "I'm an alright student, besides I would find much joy in shaping the mind of youth-"

      "Cut the crap" Lily said getting out of the compartment with her arms crossed as she leaned on the doorframe, "You just want to use the prefect bathroom"

      "Damn, you got me, Lils" Sirene said in pretend sadness before embracing Lily in a tight hug, Lily was surprised but she returned it. Sirene found out that she actually loved hugs, it made her feel warm on the inside, only when it's from someone she loves though.

      "Don't forget me" Alice said joining them with a shy grin, Sirene, Marlene and Lily stared at her with their jaws wide open. She'd cut her hair again, even shorter than it was before, between second year and sixth year she'd let her hair grow out but now she was back to the pixie cut she had in first year.

     Sirene looked at Alice for another second before releasing a low whistle, "Look at you! The haircut looks badass"

      "She's right, Al" Lily said with a huge smile, "You look good!"

     "Good? She looks hot!" Marlene said to the girls who nodded in agreement.

     "A summer without me and you're already flirting with other girls" Lyra said coming into view rolling her eyes at her girlfriend, "Nice, Mar, real nice"

      "You know I love you" Marlene winked at Lyra who just shook her in head in return.

      "Lily, Sirene come on, we've got meeting" Remus said with a small smile, James was right behind him with a smug grin on his face.

     "Potter? What are you doing with us?" Lily said her eyebrows furrowed with confusion as James followed the girls and Remus to the prefect compartment.

     "Haven't you heard?" Sirene joked, "James brought shame upon the marauders by becoming head boy"

     "You're one to speak Frostie the prefect" James scoffed at the girl who grinned in return with a small shrug. Lily stared at the two in disbelief looking at Remus who just gave her a small shrug and a look as if to say 'don't look at me, I don't know how it happened either.'

"Cant believe we're early" Remus said with a sigh as he looked around the empty almost empty compartment that had a single Hufflepuff and a Ravenclaw sitting besides the others.

"Really?" Sirene said sarcastically, "You don't say? Can't believe everyone didn't come to this compartment right after they boarded the train"

"Hey, I'd rather be early than late" Lily said shrugging, "Besides now we can have a few moments without Lucius and Bellatrix interrupting"

"Guess, that's right" James said sliding next to Lily, "I don't get how both of them get to be prefects"

"Slughorn, mate" Remus said sitting down next to Sirene, "He loves them because of potions"

"Slughorn loves everyone" Sirene said with a snort, "I don't think I've ever seen him get proper mad"

"Look, Si, Andrew" Lily said to Sirene who almost got a whiplash because of how fast she turned her head around to see Andrew and his sister talking to each other right outside the compartment, they were both looking pretty heated over something.

After a while Andrew rolled his eyes and watched his sister enter the compartment, Arielle gave Sirene a small smile and a nod of acknowledgment that Sirene returned before turning towards Andrew.

'What's up?' She mouthed to him getting up so she faced him through the glass part of the compartment door.

'The sky' he said with a small grin, she gave him a playful glare. He then shook his head and waved her off. He motioned to the prefect badge on her chest and then said 'cute.'

Sirene flipped him off, and Andrew went away with a chuckle and a small wave. Sirene sat back down inside the compartment, Lily, James, Remus and Arielle gave her knowing looks. She raised her eyebrows, "What?"

"Nothing" Lily said shrugging.

"Didn't look like nothing to me" Said James with a teasing grin.

"I'll agree with James on that" Remus said with a small chuckle.

"Oh, fuck off" Sirene said with a scoff, "You're all one to talk" She motioned to James, "Has been in love since he was like eleven" she then turned to Lily, "Don't even get me started on you" and then turned to Remus, "Basically turns into a puppy when he sees Lauren"

"Uncalled for." The three chorused together.

"Hey" Lauren said with a grin walking inside and then giving everyone a hug, which Sirene now gladly returned. She also noticed how long her hug with Remus was. Sirene winked at Lauren. "How was your summer?"

"It was nice" Remus said with a huge smile, "My mother wants to meet you!" He blurted out the last part from what Sirene could tell by his expression.

"I'd love to!" Lauren said chuckling at her boyfriend's charming clumsiness.

"Excited puppy" Sirene whispered to Remus.

Remus gave her a glare before turning his attention back to Lauren who was now talking animatedly to him. Sirene loved Lauren, she thought she was amazing and just the kind of person Remus needed in his life. She made him happy and he made her, what else could they ask for? A simple relationship that just made sense.

I'm actually dreading the moment where they graduate lol tf am I gonna do after it? 😭 I love writing the school thing, but maybe I'll have fun writing the grown up thing too, who knows?
