SILENT TREATMENT

VI.SILENT TREATMENT

Sirene would like to consider herself an ambivert, not too loud, not too quite, best with the people she's close with type, but all of that goes out of the window when it comes to waking up, because at the start of the morning - she hates everything in sight.

Another morning in the Gryffindor common room went with a lot of screaming, fighting and a little bit of hexing, but it was fine after that. The girls made their way down to the Great Hall for breakfast, it was the last day before the Christmas break.

"This has got to stop" Marlene says, yawning at the table with her head in her hand, "You lot ruin my sleep every morning"

"Please" Sirene scoffs, "At least Alice wakes you up nicely...." she frowned taking a sip of her water in hopes it'll wake her up better than Lily did, ".....unlike someone"

"For the last time!" said Lily, clutching her fork tightly as she glared at Sirene, "You can't expect me to be nice after you've thrown something at me!"

"Well you can't expect me to not throw something at you after you've been rude to me!" Sirene retorted back, and crossed her arms.

"Oh, for Godric's sake!" Marlene snarled, annoyed at the two who had been finding excuses to pick fights all morning, she really should be used to it by now, considering she goes through it every morning... every year. "Where's Alice?" She asked them, changing the topic and missing the brunette who was the one to break up the fights every morning.

"With Frank...?" Sirene said, taking a bite of her toast, did they not know or something?

"What?!" Lily and Marlene exclaimed together.

"What? Like you guys didn't know?" Sirene snorted at their reactions, until she saw the look on their faces, "Oh"

"Why didn't she tell us?" Marlene exclaimed, a frown taking it's place on her face.

"She didn't tell any of us...?" Sirene said confused at Lily and Marlene's reactions.

"How do you know then?" Lily asked Sirene.

"Well, you know? Today's Hogsmeade weekend, and Alice was supposed to go with Frank" Sirene said and watched as realization dawned up on both Lily and Marlene. Geez for smart people they really do lack in the common sense department, she thought.

"What do you suppose they're doing so early in the morning?" Lily asked Marlene and Sirene, though she instantly regretted that after seeing the smirks on their faces.

"Mornin', Evans!" James said enthusiastically, sitting down next to Sirene who immediately got up and sat next to Lily who was opposite to James.

         James and Lily frowned.

Marlene gave her a questioning look.

         Sirene blinked.

"Piss off, Potter" Lily said, at this point it just rolled off her tongue like a second habit, having done that for years at the morning - same time, everyday, every year - she rolled her eyes at James who pouted childishly.

"Hey, Si" James asked Sirene who ignored him, focusing on her toast, "Heyyyyyyy, Sireeeeennnneeee!"

"Hey, Si" Lily asked a frown on her face as she looked at the homework in her hand.

"Yeah?" Sirene said, putting her toast down to look at Lily.

"What's the answer to question 10?"

         "Oh, it's 'B', it's always 'B'"

         James frowned.

Sirene blinked, turning her attention back to her toast but instead of eating it she just played with it.

Marlene sipped her tea, watching everyone.

"Hey, Sis!" Sirius said sitting next to her with Peter and Remus who sat next to James.

Sirene ignored them, they don't expect me to just go back to normal, do they? She thinks, she was still mad about the whole animangus thing, but she realised there was no point in stopping them as it would do anything but stop them they would only want to do it more if she tried to stop them.

            Sirius frowned.

             James looked disappointed.

              Remus sighed.

Peter shrugged and shoved a mouthful of pancakes in his mouth.

                Marlene sipped her tea.

"Have you eaten?" Remus asks her, taking out a bowl of porridge as usual for her, pushing it forward.

Sirene looks at him, she notices he looks extremely tired - his eyes were droopy and he had dark circles around them, his posture not as great as it is everyday as he always sits up straight - she noticed one thing, it's always once a month that Remus looks tired as hell, so unless he goes to Hogsmeade to get high as fuck, which she highly suspects he does, there's something wrong.

She continues playing with her toast, paying no attention to "the marauders" as they called themselves, which she didn't get why? Must be some stupid boy thing she thought.

         Remus, James, and Sirius frown.

Peter gives them a questioning look.

Lily awkwardly reads her homework checking it for any errors.

          Marlene sips her tea.

"Oh, umm..." Lily starts, James immediately turns to look at her, "LOOK!" She exclaims and points her finger to Alice and Frank, both of them standing near the Great Hall doors, "There's Alice! Let's go!" Lily thanked god she found an excuse to get out of the awkward situation.

"But-" Marlene tries to protest, giving the food in front of her a longing look.

Lily glares at the girl, grabbing her by the robes before collecting her homework and walking off the table. Marlene quickly grabbed two toasts - one in each hand - and motioned Sirene to follow them, who did so gladly.

With that the girls made their way towards Alice who was busy blushing.

Sirius, Remus, James and Peter frowned.

Marlene wishes she hadn't left her tea at the table and grumpily gives the boys a dangerous glare, if it wasn't for them I would be eating right now, she thought.

"What was that all about?" Lily asked Sirene who just shrugged in return.

Sirene wanted to tell Lily, but the thing is Lily can't really keep secrets - well she can but not when it comes to answering to people with authority - she always vomits them out, Sirene knows she doesn't mean to, but she wasn't sure whether telling Lily would be a good call, and Lily would feel guilty even trying to lie, considering how reckless the boys are being, Sirene wouldn't be surprised if someone found out about them and then Lily would have to lie and it would just be a whole ass mess.

"You made me leave my food" Marlene said sadly, a scowl on her face.

"You just care about the drama, Mar" Sirene said a playful smile on her lips as she rolled her eyes at her best friend.

"That's not true!" Marlene says, both Lily and Sirene pause to give her a look, "I care about the drama and the food"

"True" Lily and Sirene said, as they finally caught up with Alice who was still blushing profusely, bless her, but Sirene could never understand how someone can make someone blush so much, she'd never experienced it herself, sure she'd had a crush every now and then but never 'Oh, I like you so much I'm gonna turn into a tomato"

"So?" Marlene said, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively, "What have you guys been up to?" She placed her arms on Alice's shoulder, making her look down.

"Yeah, Alice" Sirene joined in, putting her arm on Alice's other shoulder, "Are you feeling...flustered?"

"I-" Alice said but she couldn't form a sentence, hell she could barely keep the smile off her face, she hated her friends right now, okay maybe not hate because at the end of the day - she's still Alice Fortescue - she doesn't hate anyone not even the cat that scratched her so hard once that she started bleeding, but she does strongly dislike every one of them.....right now.

"Hey!" Lily said, removing Sirene and Marlene's arms from Alice's shoulders for which Alice gave Lily a thankful smile, that Lily gladly returned before whispering "Tell me all of what happened!" into Alice's ear.

Alice shook off Lily's hand immediately, "Sod off!" And walked away from the girls.

"Look what you did!" Marlene said to Lily with a frown.

"Me? You started it!" Lily said, crossing her arms and giving Marlene a glare, Marlene stuck her tongue out at Lily.

"I think we both should blame Sirene and go talk to Alice" Marlene said, her face possessing a solemn experience.

"Good idea", Lily said with a nod,"Let's"

"Hey- what?" Sirene said, her expression turning from one of amusement to being offended, "What the fuck, guys?"

But Lily and Marlene weren't listening as they'd already started chasing down Alice, leaving Sirene in the hallway with a confused expression on her face.
