LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO
XXXII. LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO
If you would've told Sirene Black a few months ago that she would be spending her free time swimming in the Black Lake, she would've laughed at your face and called you crazy.
If you'd told her that she would be doing that to avoid her friends and her feelings - she would've gotten angry, maybe even punched you.
Most of all if you'd told her that she wouldn't be on speaking terms with her twin, she would've walked out, not even sparing another glance.
Yet here she was.
She found herself floating on the Black Lake with an unreadable expression on her face. She had been doing this a lot recently, she had always hated the water but somehow she liked it here. It took her mind off things.
Sirene couldn't understand it, she was free, she didn't have her mother and her father nagging her for every choice she makes, then what was the problem? Why did she feel so fucking lost.
Why couldn't she just bring herself to talk to her friends, why couldn't she just apologize to her brother and end this stupid war. Was she really that selfish? Petty? Jealous?
Um, yes that's exactly the problem you stupid bitch.
Shut up, Venom. Give me a break, I'm in my feels.
Yeah, you said that fifteen minutes ago too kid.
What's your point?
She sighed before swimming back to the ground, wrapping a towel around herself as she felt herself shivering because of the cold weather, taking a swim during October probably wasn't a good idea.
She took out her wand muttering a small drying and heating spell, and with that she was good to go.
"Hey, Sirene!" Marlene called out from the courtyard as she saw Sirene walk out with a blank expression on her face as always, Sirene turned to look at Marlene with her brows furrowed, "Come on, hang out with us, it's been so long!"
"Maybe some other time, Mar" Sirene said with a sorry expression, "I'm feeling rather tired today"
"That's alright" Alice said with a kind smile, "Make sure you get enough rest, Si"
"I will, don't worry" Sirene said before making her way back to the Gryffindor common room and up the dorms.
She immediately went under her covers, turning herself into a "human caterpillar" as Sirius called it when they were children as she had only her head poking out of the blanket. They would often do this when they felt cold or sad. She still does it.

"Everyone turn to page 412" Mcgonagall's voice broke Sirene from her trance, making her flinch slightly. Andrew eyed her worriedly but she paid no attention to him, instead focusing on the book on her desk.
"Hey, Ren?" Andrew asked Sirene who turned to look at him with her eyebrows raised, "You ok?"
"Of course" Sirene said with a fake smile, "What would happen to me?"
"Sure" Andrew said not believing a word she said, "Alright then"
"Alright"
Sirene drowned the rest of the class out, it wasn't that she didn't want to pay attention - she did, truly. Transfiguration is her favorite subject after all but she just couldn't pay attention, she kept getting distracted by every single thing around her. The sound of a pencil hitting the desk, quills scratching against parchment, Mcgonagall's magic chalk writing on the board and James bothering Lily as always.
She turned around a few times to see Sirius sitting with Neveah Ross, laughing silently every now and then. She wondered if Neveah Ross was the mystery girl as Sirius used to describe her. She probably was.
Sirene looked at Alice who was staring out of the window as always, her hands playing with the tree earrings in her ears, for some reason Alice always wore them, she said it was her good luck charm and Sirene had stopped arguing about it when they were in their first year.
She then turned to face Lyra and Marlene who were busy in their own world, Lyra was doodling in her notebook and Marlene was watching her do it as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
Remus and Lauren haven't been on the best terms these days because of an argument about - furry little problems and truth be told she was on Lauren's side, not that she would ever tell Remus that though.
She then glanced at Andrew who was taking notes with his eyebrows furrowed and looking up every few seconds at the board or the textbook.
For some reason after doing that she felt much calmer, it was almost a reminder that these people would be there to fix her right back up again if she were ever to take a fall. She knew it without a doubt.
With another glance at Sirius she went back to trying and focus on the class.

"This is the third time she's skipped dinner again" Lily said worriedly to Marlene, "If this goes on she'll land herself in the hospital wing again"
"I'm worried about her too, Lils" Marlene said stuffing her face with some chocolate pudding - it was her comfort food, "She hasn't ever been like this"
"Do you think something happened at home with her?" Alice asked the two who looked at each other unsurely, "It doesn't make sense, she's hiding something"
"Whatever she's hiding" Marlene said swallowing the pudding, "I hope she tells us soon, because hate to make it about myself but I'm gaining a lot of weight from all this stress eating"
"Then don't eat so much, Mar" Lily rolled her eyes at Marlene who scoffed.
"Says you" Marlene said narrowing her eyes at the redhead, "You've been drowning yourself in muggle fairytale books, I know happy endings bring you comfort"
"She's not wrong" Alice said shrugging but stopped when Marlene and Lily gave her a look, "What?"
"You're kidding right?" Lily said with a dry chuckle.
"Are you sure, you're the Alice 'I-don't-want-to-stress-but-that's-exactly-what-I'm-doing-so-I'll-make-a-flower-crown? Fortescue?"
"Uncalled for." Alice said with a frown.
"Not really"
