FRUSTRATINGLY PICKY
XX. FRUSTRATINGLY PICKY
Okay, Sirene was going to be honest, she hadn't made a single effort to ask someone out to the dance, simply because, well she'd never actually asked someone out in her life.
So to procrastinate even more she found herself laying down on the floor of astronomy tower.
"This is nice" Sirius said as he stared at the night sky from the astronomy tower, "I can't remember the last time we hung out"
"We hung out all day today" Sirene scoffed, "There's only so much stupidity I can handle in one day"
"I meant just us two, dork" Sirius rolled his eyes, "Nice to know you love me though"
"You know I love you" Sirene said, "Even though I might not say it often, I do"
"I do too, I mean look at me-"
"I'm going to leave"
"I was only joking" Sirius said with a teasing grin, "I love you too"
"When I turn seventeen, I'm going to run away" Sirene said after a few moments of silence, "Somewhere peaceful, somewhere different, ya know?"
"Will you take me with you?" Sirius said turning to look at her.
"Did you not hear the word peaceful in that sentence?"
"I hate you"
"Ok, fine" Sirene said, "I'll take you with me, but you have to pay half the rent"
"We'll take James, Remus, Lily and everyone else with us too" Sirius said now his tone serious, "Away from all of this mess"
"I like the idea"
🥀
"Bloody hell" Andrew flinched, he previously had his head on his desk as he tried to catch up on sleep, but Sirene and her book slamming had other plans "Be a little gentle next time will you?"
"Aw, did I interrupt poor baby's sleep" Sirene cooed before her expression turned solid again, "Too fucking bad"
"Who pissed in your cereal today" Andrew rolled his eyes at the sight of a prominent scowl on her face.
"I will piss in yours if you don't shut up"
"Just trying to be civil"
"You should've thought about being civil when you started that rumor about me!"
"Hold on" Andrew said with a confused look, "What rumor?"
"You know exactly what rumor" Sirene hissed, "Don't play dumb"
"I-" Andrew started to but soon got interrupted by Professor Mcgonagall turning into human from cat again.
James whistled from his seat, clapping a few times, "Never gets old, Minnie!"
"Detention, Mr. Potter" Professor Mcgonagall said with a shake of her head, she charmed the chalk to write 'Vanishment' on the board, "Today we're learning about vanishment charms, open page 394 in your books please."
"The main spell that we'll be practicing today is Evanesco...."
🥀
"I hate it here" Sirene said with her pillow on her face, muffling her annoyed voice, "I still haven't found a date"
"All you have to do is ask someone Si" Alice said putting her now long hair into little plaits, "You're a beautiful girl I'm sure no one would mind taking you out"
"Yes, but I'm picky" Sirene pouted, "And it's not my fault all the good ones are probably scared of me"
"Go with Andrew" Alice said, sitting down next to Sirene who gave her an unimpressed look.
"Haha, super funny" Sirene said in a monotonous voice.
"I'm not kidding" Alice said, "Look he's kind, he's handsome, he isn't scared of you, what more?"
"He started a rumor about me!"
"Ok, fine!" Alice said sighing, "Take Remus"
"Can't" Sirene said, "He's feeling sick"
"Peter?"
"It'd be weird"
"James?"
"He's going with Lily because Lily lost a bet"
"Merlin, we have a problem" Alice said laying down next to Sirene who sighed to herself, "Why can't you go alone?"
"Because I don't want to look like a loser" Sirene said frustrated at her own pickiness, "And I told Marlene I have a date"
🥀
Sirene was making her way to transfigurations the next day, also the day of Slughorn party, she was honestly willing to break her limb if it meant she could save herself from the embarrassment.
She sighed to herself before walking in and taking a seat next to Andrew who gave her a glare to which she rolled her eyes at.
"Hey, Andrew" a flirty voice spoke from the other side of their desk, Sirene turned to look at the person whereas Andrew just banged his head on the desk, "So, I'm going to the lame Slughorn party today, and I was thinking, what could make it less lame? And you were the one person who came into my mind."
"That's...nice, Vanessa" Andrew said with an unsure voice, the blonde girl just giggled and twirled her hair with her fingers, "Thank you?"
"You should totally be my date" Vanessa spoke in a ditsy voice, chewing her gum loudly, "We would be so cute together!"
"I would love to!" Andrew said hurriedly, before continuing with a fake sad expression, "But I already have a date"
"Oh" Vanessa said her face falling, "Who is it?"
"It's uh-" He stammered on his words looking around, "It's a surprise!"
"I'll be there to see it then" Vanessa said with a flirty smile and then winked, "And maybe if you want to change your mind after seeing me"
"Yikes" Sirene chuckled, "Someone has a crush"
Andrew turned to glare at her, "She's been pestering me non-stop about being her date to this slug club thing"
"So, who's the unlucky girl?" Sirene said plainly, "I feel bad for her honestly"
Look, Sirene didn't actually care, she just was really really bored, and sometimes when you're bored you hit new lows and for her it was talking to Andrew Rosier, usually she would be sniggering at the back desk with Marlene about absolutely nothing to be honest, but for the greater good of love she's not sitting there anymore.
"As if you care" Andrew said with a dry chuckle, opening his textbook and notebook with a bored expression on his face.
"Merlin's balls, don't tell me you don't have a date?" Sirene teased, "Mr. girls fall at my feet even though I don't give attention to them doesn't have a date?"
"Shut up, will you?" Andrew hissed, "And yes, I don't have date, I just didn't feel like it"
"Sucks" Sirene shrugged popping a chocoball in her mouth. A lightbulb went off in her head all of a sudden.
Ok, she is definitely going to regret this later on, but it's certainly better than going to the party alone, isn't it? This way she doesn't have to worry about someone trying anything, she doesn't have to check up on them after date, none of that awkward shit, and she wouldn't be a complete filthy liar to Marlene.
Sure, she hated his guts but he wasn't completely hideous, and he courteous if he wanted to be, and he certainly wouldn't hope for anything after that 'date' to the party, call her crazy but it didn't seem that bad to her.
"Hey, Annie" Sirene said, throwing a chocoball on his forehead, "Psst"
"What?" Andrew snapped turning to look at her with a frustrated face.
"Go out with me" she stated bluntly before glaring at the person who sat in the desk next to her because they'd dropped something right by her table.
"What?" Andrew choked out, "No?"
"Not a real date you himbo" Sirene rolled her eyes, "Like a pretend date, I don't have a date either-"
"Wonder why?" Andrew said putting his hand on his chin and pretending to think.
"Haha." Sirene said sarcastically, "And I have to show up with a date too"
"Hmm" Andrew said before his expression turned solemn again, "No."
"Come on" Sirene whined, "I'll pay you"
"I- what?" Andrew looked at her with an offended expression, "I'm not a prostitute!"
"Ok, fine" Sirene said cooly, "I'm sure you won't mind having a date with the miss ditsy daisy over there, if you're lucky enough you two might share gum"
Andrew shuddered at the thought before looking at Sirene who pretended to not notice him, and then at Vanessa who blew him a kiss. He did think for a moment, I mean it's really not that bad is it? He wouldn't have to talk to her after the date, neither check up on her, no awkward date talk and no feelings involved.
"Ok, fine" He sighed, "I'll go with you"
"Don't make it sound like I actually asked you out" Sirene said with a disgusted expression on her face, "It's just a pretend date, nothing more"
"Exactly"
"I have to warn you though, Annie" Sirene said with a deadpanned look, "You might fall in love with me"
"In you dreams, Black" Andrew scoffed, even the thought seemed ridiculous to him right now.
"More like nightmares" Sirene half joked, "Seriously though, you're not allowed to catch feelings or anything"
"Oh, believe me, I won't" Andrew said with a snigger, "Besides it's just one pretend date, what could happen?"
