XV. DOING GOD'S WORK PT. I

Sirene Black would like to clear up that the things that happen in this part of the story aren't her fault in any way, but also they're totally her fault and some day she might take credit for it because it ended up being start of something new.

Ok, so, you might not have any idea of what I'm talking about, let's go back in time shall we?

"Ew!" A girl with winter grey eyes and raven black hair exclaimed, pulling out her wand and cursing the boy who'd tried to hold her hand, "Avis!" That's our girl Sirene, being a badass twelve year old.

The boy's eyes hazel eyes widened with shock as a flock of birds flew around him, chasing him around as he sprinted the other direction. Yeah, that boy? That's Andrew Rosier.

If only Sirene knew how much trouble that hazel-eyed boy was going to cause.

"I can't believe I'm still doing this stupid shit with you" Remus shook his head, "Should've never agreed to this"

"Yeah, but ya did" Sirene said with a cheeky smile, "Too bad, anyway, I hope you'll prepare yourself for the ruckus I'm about to cause"

"I got the stuff" James said excitedly, following Remus and Sirene, Sirene gave him a high five that he gladly returned.

"You two getting along freaks me out" Sirius shuddered, "Seriously" he snorted at his own joke.

"I think it's nice" Remus shrugged, "Now, I have less fights to break up"

"Once you look past the arrogance and narcissism, he's an alright partner in crime" Sirene said simply.

"What the fuck?" Sirius said, "I'm right here? You're supposed to be my partner in crime, remember me? Your bloody twin?"

"Aww" Sirene cooed, pinching Sirius's cheek, "Tough shit"

Sirius scoffed and then gave her the finger.

"Hey, Si!" Sirene heard Lily call out, she turned around a few times in the hallway to see where exactly she was before finding out she was in the field.

"Bye, losers!" Sirene said giving them a mock salute before running off to the girls.

"She has no respect for us"

"I think she hates us"

"She doesn't hate us, she just likes the girls more"

"Hey guys! I'm sorry I just got out of the kitchens!" Peter heaved, "I got you this, chocolate pudding for Remus, Eclair for Sirius and Strawberries for you James!"

"Peter" Sirius said with a deadpanned look on his face, "You're our savior"

"And so I told him absolutely not, he can go fuck himself!" Alice said angrily, making every girl flinch by the sudden use of a swear word from Alice, the girl winced a bit before her tone changed into a kind one again, "I'm sorry, I-I just got so angry? Just because he's my boyfriend doesn't mean he gets to choose what I do with my life, you know?"

"My baby's grown up" Sirene fake sobbed into Lily's shoulder who smacked her head in return, "Ow"

"I think you put him in his place alright" Marlene said, looking up at Alice who was busy braiding Marlene's hair into a crown braid, and giving her a huge smile, "What a jerk"

"I don't agree with him" Lily said, "But even though he doesn't have any power on your choices, I think I see where he's coming from"

"What do you mean?" Alice frowned at the redhead who released a sigh.

"Well, with everything going around? And the crazy amount of muggle deaths?" Lily said playing with her fingers, "I think he believes he's looking out for you"

"I guess you're right" Alice said, realisation and regret dawning on her face before it was replaced with determination, "I don't need his help, though, I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself"

"And I'm sure he knows that" Lily said, "But you can't shake the fear out sometimes, and with you guys associating with...muggleborns like me, it puts you at a higher risk than normal purebloods"

"Hey, Lily" Sirene said, taking hold of her hand and giving it a squeeze, "I hope you know that our friendship is something I wouldn't regret in a million years, not even if a deatheater killed me"

"I-" Lily said, her lip trembling, "I- don't - they're killing people Si, just yesterday they killed people where my parents live, what if it's them next time-"

"I'm sorry" Sirene said, quickly engulfing Lily into a tight hug, "I wish you didn't have to go through this"

"I wish more people could be like you guys" Lily sobbed, "But they aren't and people are dying"

Alice and Marlene gave Lily a sympathetic look, tears flooding their own eyes, both of them moved forward and embraced each other.

Who knows if they would get the chance to do that tomorrow.

The fifth year Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were now in the transfiguration class, Professor Mcgonagall was walking around explaining things.

Marlene and Sirene were seated together, the blonde too busy day dreaming about the outside and the black haired girl was preparing herself to do something.

"Minnie!" Sirene said loudly, interrupting Mcgonagall who was going on about, well who knows, Sirene was too busy plotting in her head.

"It's professor Mcgonagall, Ms. Black" Minerva McGonagall said with a disappointed look on her face, "What is it?"

"Marlene is bothering me" Sirene said, "She's been pestering me non-stop"

Marlene turned to look at Sirene with an enraged expression on her face, "You filthy li-"

"See? She's bullying me too!" Sirene said in a fake hurt voice, "I hope you will switch my seats with someone responsible, like I don't know, just a suggestion, but I would really like the second seat on the third row left side"

Marlene and Mcgonagall watched Sirene warily, Mcgonagall sighed before saying, "Alright"

"Ms. Avery, I hope you won't have any problems switching with Ms. Black" Mcgonagall said, not letting the corners of her lips curve into a smile, "Please, go ahead"

Lyra merely nodded before getting up after grabbing her books eagerly, and almost tripping over thin air making her way towards Marlene, the whole class sniggers a bit.

"Thank you, Minnie" Sirene said getting up with her books, "Appreciate it!"

"I'm sure you won't have any problem sitting with Mr. Rosier, while we're at it Ms. Laurel, switch with Ms. Evans and Ms. Evans I really do hope you can keep him in control" Mcgonagall said to the girl , Sirene winced in her head, remembering that day in Hogsmeade, Lily opened her mouth to protest but she couldn't find it in herself to go against Mcgonagall, Lauren Laurel, I know it sounds like a tongue twister, made her way towards Remus where Lily was previously sitting, giving him a tight smile, "And Ms. Black"

"Yeah?" Sirene said setting her things on the desk.

"Detention"

"I-"

"For not raising your hand before speaking"

Sirene sighed, slumping down on her seat not even bothering to look at the boy next to her.

"Hello, sunshine" Andrew said with a sarcastic smile, "Still hostile as ever?"

"Hello, Annie" Sirene returned the gesture, "Still scared of cute little birdies?"

"Bitch"

"Arsehole"

Remus gave a sympathetic look to her from the other side of the class room, and James seemed to be dying trying to hold his laughter while Lily gave him concerned looks, Marlene on the other hand, she wasn't even looking at Sirene, she was too busy looking at Lyra.

Sirene smiled to herself, drawing a little heart next the line 'make them sit together' that was on the list of things she's planning to do for operation Myra.

Andrew gave the girl a curious look before shaking his head and continuing to take notes, she's still as weird as I remember, he thought to himself.
