Sarah's pov
My dad and i sat at the base of the mountain, our tents up and both of us curled around a small flame that shone a bright yellow from the small orb of my magic in the center of the flame. I sigh, since my dad and i haven't been getting along lately ever since mom disappeared into the same mountain we sat below. But this was no pleasant trip, not for me. I pulled a blanket around my shoulders as night slowly fell and i asked," can we go on a hike? For moms sake?" He got up in the blink of an eye and pinned me to the rocky floor. I gasp as he said," you only speak when spoken to, am i right?" I nod meekly and dad gets up, walking into the tent. That was how it went after mom disappeared, dad didn't care what i did, but as long as i never spoke a word around him. I sigh and stand, walking up the mountain myself. Memories of mom surged through my head but i didn't push them away, i smile sadly at the good times, moving through the woods with ease, following the same path mom marked for me of i ever wished to try to find her. I continue through the chilly forest, coming across a cave. I sit down in the cave, happy to be out of the wind. I continue going foward and my boot catches on a root, and i fall, my magic lighting and i fire a arrow with a rope attached. It catches the roof and holds, but did i really want to stay up there? Where i was a forced mute and scared little girl. After a minute of pondering, i let go, smiling happily. Because if i survived the fall, i could possibly live a brand new life. I was finally free, just like mom was. I hit the ground and all the air was pushed from my lungs, i slowly gasped for breath, my chest shallowly rising and falling. After what felt like an hour my body caught up, allowing me to breathe normally. I sit up, standing and summoning a small pistol in my hand. You never know what could've been down here. I start walking away from the dusty yellow flowers that i had landed on, shaking the petals from my chocolate brown hair and i come into the next room, seeing a torn flower, barely alive in a weak ray of sun. I reach down and focus my magic, channeling it into a life giving energy and the flower strengthens, its eyes and mouth opening saying weakly," what? Who?" They follow my hand to my face, where i'm smiling softly. They say," o-o-oh, hello human, t-thanks for healing me, things haven't been safe past the ruins lately, but i bet you're wondering where you are." I nod softly," my names Sarah, what's yours?" They smile softly and say," flowey, flowey the flower." I hold out my arm and say," well flowey how about we get somewhere safer, besides, i'll get lost if i'm alone." He smiles and wraps vines around my arm, lifting himself out of the dirt with ease and i smile, standing again. I continue on the path and we enter the next room, seeing purple cracked bricks that lead to a staircase that was slowly falling apart. Soft sounds hit my ears and instantly i summon a bow and arrow, flowey climbing to my back and they ask," do you know how to use that weapon?" I nod," i never miss my shot, i'm just not good up in close combat range yet." They nod," i'll help guard you with my attacks, a GB might be anywhere, we have no idea if they've gotten past the ruins doors yet." I tense," whats a GB?" " oh right, they are really called Gaster Blasters, but it was turned into a virus and its spread past pretty much the whole underground, its.... horrific to see happen. Nobody knows how it happened either. So far the ruins has been the last stronghold for the virus to overcome." I nod," ok, i see, so far we'll be safe, since we're inside the ruins, but once we leave that'll be an issue." He nods," the caretaker of the ruins has been guarding the door day and night with the help from other monsters that made it to the ruins without being bit." " ok, so the virus spreads through bite, i was curious about that." He nods and i stop, noticing a bridge of spikes. Flowey says," set me down, i'll drop the spike bridge then raise it after you cross." I nod and do so, keeping an eye on our surroundings as the spike bridge dropped. I quickly run over to the other side and flowey flipped the switch again. I pull him onto my shoulders and continue on. We progress through the puzzles since flowey knew all the answers and we arrive at a small house. Flowey says," this is the house of the caretaker of the ruins. She'd be more then willing to help you live here for until the blasters break down the door." I smile," its gotta be better then where i came from." I continue onwords and i knock lightly on the door.
