Prologue

"Prologue"

"No siren did ever so charm the ear of the listener, as the listening ear has charmed the siren."

~Henry Taylor

As the young girl sat looking out of the window in the stone castle, she watched the dark blue sea reflecting the moonlight. The waves gently brushed the sand calming her. She caught a glimpse of what seemed to be the bottom half of a fish diving back into the water and smiled to herself.

'Sirens can't be a myth, right?' She thought to herself. The girl's mother slowly opened her bedroom door and smiled seeing the beautiful grin on her face.

"My child, are you watching for those creatures again?" She calmly asked sitting next to her.

"Yes, Mother. I wanna be a great knight that travels the sea and catch awesome monsters!" She laughed jumping into her warm embrace. She sighed running her fingers through her soft (H/C) hair.

"My darling daughter, I love you more than anything." She whispered kissing the top of her head

"I love you too, mother." She said hugging her neck.

She stood up carrying the young girl and taking her the the bed in the middle of the room. She set her on the blankets and kissed her forehead.

"Good night my child." She said blowing out the candle on the table and leaving her room.

She looked to the window one last time, hearing the faint sound of a boy singing. She felt herself slowly drifting off to sleep to the haunting voice.

The siren sat on the rocks near the sea. He looked out as the high tide crashed against the cliff side. As the waves violently slammed against the rocks he sang.

"My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me

But my jolly sailor bold
My happiness attend him
Wherever he may go
From Tower Hill to Blackwall
I'll wander, weep and moan
All for my jolly sailor

Until he sails home
True love has grafted my heart
Give me my sailor bold
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
Come all you pretty fair maids
Whoever you may be
Who love a jolly sailor
That plows the raging sea
And firmly pray arrive the day
He's never more to roam
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
My heart is pierced by Cupid

I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold"  He sighed looking up at the castle looming over the ocean, seeing that the top window was now dark.
