Chapter 3; Human
A/N: Quick author's note, I may be wrong about the author of the poem. There is some gore in this chapter so there will be a warning before it starts and another notice when it's over if you want to skip through.
"Human"
"But that girl is a fairy tale, she's not real. Just a sweet smile lullaby, that gives you something to feel." ~Henry Taylor

"(Y/N)!" Momo's voice rang from the hallway. I opened my door and poked my head out.
"Yes?" I tried to hold back laughter.
"Why didn't you tell me about him?!" She punched the wall.
"Did he talk to you?" I leaned against the wall.
"Yes!" Her voice broke.
"And?" I raised my eyebrow suggestively.
"I don't even know what to tell him!" She ran her hand through her hair.
"Excuse me." A voice broke into our conversation.
"Yes?" We both asked looking at the figure as they stepped into the light.
"May I speak to the princess. Alone." He cleared his throat.
"Yes, of course." Momo bowed and left us in silence.
"Bakugou." I stared into his crimson eyes.
"(Y/N), I want to apologize for what happened. I was extremely rude for something so minuscule." He bowed.
"It's fine." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I'm leaving at the end of the week but I would like it if you gave me another chance." He held out his hand. I stared blankly at him for a second before putting on a smile and taking his hand.
"Sure." He nodded and walked back down the hallway passing Momo as she came back.
"What happened?" She asked. "He had a weird look on his face." She looked over his shoulder then back at me.
"I gave him a second chance." I looked down the hallway.
"Are you insane?!" She pushed my shoulder.
"If my father wants me to marry a prince to unite our kingdoms so we don't have a war, I'm prepared to make any sacrifices I have to." I glared up at her.
"Whatever. Uraraka asked to see you." She huffed and walked down the hallway.
"Momo." I turned and watched her storm down the hallway. I scoffed and walked to the kitchen taking a breath to re-gain my composure before opening the door.
"Like I said there's another one here, kero." Tsu's voice was unmistakable.
"Tsu, there can't be. And if there are I'm sure we'd know." Uraraka seemed to be upset about something.
"Hey, Uraraka. Momo said you needed to talk to me about something." I turned the corner.
"Hey, princess." She mumbled while making something. "Princess!" She jumped up and pushed me back and into a chair.
"What was that about?" I looked up at her as she quickly ran back around the corner.
"Hang on. I'll be right there." She called back.
"Hey what's going on?" I stood up and looked at what they were doing. "Oh my God!" I covered my mouth seeing Tsu, in a trough, with a tail.
"Kero, Ochako." Tsu pointed at me. They both stared at me almost apologetic.
"Uraraka, what's going on?" I demanded answers. She sighed and stood up dusting off her dress before speaking.
"Well, I'm a mage. For starters." She looked back at Tsu then to me. "And Tsu is...a...Siren. And I know it's insane. But it's the truth." Her hands tightened to fists holding the hem of her dress.
"Good. You think it's insane too. I'd be worried if you didn't." I stared at the tail unsure of what else to look at.
"Well I guess now we should tell you." Tsu brought my attention to her face.
"Tell me what?" I looked at both of the girls.
"Tsu says that there are more in our bay and around the kingdom. If that's true, you might be a target for one of them. Have you ever felt pulled to the water for some unexplained reason?" I stared at the brunette.
"Hold on. What do you mean 'target?'" I tried to process all of the information.
"Siren's need the mutual love of a human to obtain a soul. There are also two types of Sirens. The fish eating kind. And the man eating kind. We're not sure which is in our bays." She sat next to the trough.
"So you're telling me, that there are mythical creatures in the kingdom fjord (f-y-ord) that may or may not be able to kill us." I summarized what she said.
"Basically. But have you felt drawn to the water in any way?" She seemed to realize something. "Or even kissed by strangers while in the water. They need to kiss a human to be able to speak the same language as them." My mind went to that night with that stranger.
"No." I shook my head. She sighed with relief.
"We're safe for now. Tsu and I will be near the docks just in case she's right. Stay safe, okay princess?" She stood up and helped Tsu out of the water.
"Got it." I nodded and quickly left the kitchen.
Todoroki P.O.V.
I woke up on the ocean floor, dazed from the new language that entered my head. I slowly sat up, bobbing in the current. I smiled thinking of her face, her mannerism. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I swam backwards, and spun and flipped, thinking all about her. 'Maybe next time we meet I can tell her my name, and we can walk on the be-' I stopped thinking as my heart sunk.
"I can't land walk...and I don't know how to gain legs..." I said out loud as I let myself sink onto a rock. I felt a feeling that I had never felt before. Like a wave of longing and sorrow. I watched as fish swam by, in their pods, their family. I knew I wasn't wanted by my family. I had been shunned from the pod because I had refused to eat a dying sailor. I couldn't do it, his eyes were so dull and ready to die, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
"Oh~ poor little Shouto Todoroki..." A voice said from behind me. I turned to see a face I remembered. It was my older brother, Dabi. He had been shunned years ago for killing some of his own pod members.
"What...what are you doing he-" I was surprised to see him.
"Shh..." Dabi said interrupting me. He swam in front of me, putting two fingers under my chin and forcefully held it up.
"What do you want." I said though gritted teeth.
"No little brother, the real question is what do you want? To be a human so you can have a soul? To follow your hearts desire? No...No you want more than that. I bet you want to kill her and feast on her!" Dabi said with a laugh that made the surrounding fish scatter.
"You-"
"What?" Dabi said interrupting me once again. "I'm too far gone to know what you want? Well..." he said leaning in to whisper in my ear, "I can turn you into one of those tasty treats..." My eyes widened. I felt my heart beating fast, and I griped his arms holding with as much force as I had.
"How!?" I said.
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Hold you sea horses. Let's negotiate somewhere...more private, shall we?" Dabi said as he began to swim off. I followed close behind him, but still keeping my distance.
After a long while. We reached a cave opening, it looked like any other. He led me inside, the interior of the room was smooth. There were shelves carved into the walls that held maps, bottled items, and human clothing.
"What is all this...?" I said still looking around.
"I like to collect things from my victims. I keep theirs clothing or trinkets they drop for my collection!" He then took something from the wall shaped like a small smooth rock, but it was shiny and was attached to a chain. Dabi pressed a button at the top, and it popped open. There were what appeared to be numbers inside.
"I don't care about your sick ways. I want to become a human." I said firmly. He smiled as he swam close to face.
"Here's the deal kid. I turn you into a human, and in return you bring me a good meal, and not some measly girl, someone strong and worth while. We got a deal?" He held out his webbed hand, and after a moment of hesitation, I shook it.
"Deal." I said.
"Excellent!" Dabi said as he swam to a wall full of shells and stones. He took a shell with an unusually sharp end. He also picked up a piece of sea glass. Then he darted to another wall and grabbed a jar of blood. "Are you ready?" Dabi said with a sick smile on his face.
"Yes." I said. He led me to the surface, and we went to a set of bolders. I hoped onto one of them, then he handed me the jar of blood.
"Now drink it."
I hesitantly opened the jar, then I swiftly drank the contents of the jar. It was a flavor I had gotten used too, Salmon blood.
"Now, try not to scream, this is going to hurt." Dabi said. I nodded and mentally prepared myself, but that didn't do a thing.
!WARNING BEYOND THIS POINT IS GORE! VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED! IN THIS PART IT DESCRIBES WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SIRENS TURN HUMAN. IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO, SKIP AHEAD THERE IS A NOTICE WHEN THE GORE STOPS!
Dabi stabbed the shell into my tail and dragged it down to my fins. He did it over and over, the pain so excruciating that I bit my tongue harder and harder to keep from screaming.
I tried not to look down, but I couldn't help it, I looked. My tail was almost split in two, but not quite. There was blood everywhere, all I could see was red. Clouds of my blood was in the water, splatters of blood covered Dabi's face.
That's when I lost it. I screamed, and yelped, the pain was so intense. I felt water coming from my eyes, something that had never happened before. Then all of a sudden, the shell broke, and there was only another cut or two left.
Dabi surged, before grabbing the two slightly connected halves, then pulled them apart. I screamed so loud that my throat hurt, but not as bad as this. My vision began to blur, and the pain got worse.
For those who skipped through, you're good now my lovely.
Dabi took the sea glass and let a few drops of my blood drop on it. "Here swallow this quickly!" He said as he placed it in my mouth. With what energy I had left, I swallowed the sea glass, and blacked out once more.
Your P.O.V.
I sat on the docks, kicking my feet in the cool water. After what happened with Uraraka and Tsu, I wanted more answers. I needed to know more, so I went to the castle library and found a sufficient amount of books on mermaids and Sirens and set up at the docks. Most of the books I'd found were useless or unreliable, but I had to take all of the information with a grain of salt.
"Princess, your father asked for you." A confident voice spoke behind me.
"What does he want now, Ida. I'm a little busy at the moment." I didn't look up from my book.
"It's about your engagement." He cleared his throat. I sighed and closed my book, standing up I pushed the book into the boy's chest as I walked past.
"By the way, how'd it go with Momo?" I glanced at him as we walked to the throne room.
"After some thought, she accepted my feelings." He chuckled.
"Congratulations!" I cheered.
"(Y/N)." The stern voice of my father caught my attention.
"Yes, Father?" I bowed stepping closer to the throne.
"I've been told you accepted another request from Bakugou. Is this correct?" He looked into my eyes.
"Yes, Father." I nodded.
"I understand. This time I'll make sure nothing is ruined." He waved and I left.
