By Thunder |Chapter Six|

Stumbling into her shared suite, Truly works Kade's shirt up over his head and tosses it to the side. Her lips reclaim his in a thirsty kiss as she lures him back to her room, as her hands discover each delicious groove of his muscles. When she gets to her door, her hand desperately searches behind her for the handle.

As she finds purchase, she jerks the door open and tugs Kade in after her.

Kicking the door shut behind him, Kade's eyes run hungrily over her as he toes off his sneakers. His only desire is getting the pretty little siren beneath him and as quickly as possible. With his focus solely on her, he loses focus on what's around him and it costs him when Nutless wanders in his path. Like a seizing deck of a ship, Kade tips and pitches forward, careening straight for the shawls or, in his case, her dresser. "Shit!"

A deep angry yowl fills the room as Nutless darts under the bed.

Off balance thanks to the rum running heavily through his veins, Kade stumbles and slams into Truly's dresser. The whole thing tilts and shakes before he shoves it back into the wall, causing a stack of books to tumble to the ground. "Fuck!"

Truly laughs. "Haven't found ye land legs yet, ye landlubber?"

Kade narrows his eyes. "I'm a buccaneer. I just fell a bit afoul of the moving rocks. These seas aren't typical." He points a finger at her. "There's something at work here and I aim to discover what."

Truly snorts as she kicks off her sandals. "Aye, catfish, t'ey be deadly."

Kade scoffs as he scans her room for any more unexpected rocks. "Catfish are freshwater. They got no business in my seas." His attention draws back to her and slides over her. "You, on the other hand, are definitely a mystery." He pushes away from her dresser and strides towards her. Reaching out, Kade slides a hand behind her neck, entangling his fingers in her hair. "You do something to me," he softly admits with the help of the rum in his system. "But I dunno what?"

Unable to resist, he dips his head down and steals her lips, needing to breathe her in. His hands slide down to her hips and he kneads them before he lifts her up and places her on her bed and steps between her legs. His fingers slide up her sides, taking her sage green dress with it. When his fingers skim her bare chest, Truly gasps and pulls briefly back, allowing Kade to pull it off over her head before he recaptures her lips.

Truly leans back, pulling him along with her, and scoots up the bed until he's hovering over her. Just as she goes for his belt, her door flies open, startling them both. "Tru, are you-?" Heather stops in her tracks seeing both Truly and Kade half dressed, and well on their way to something more intimate.

It takes a second for the shock to melt away before a scornful look settles on Heather's face. "Out, Kade!" To Truly's shock, Heather grabs a small decorative pillow out of a moon chair Truly has sitting near her door. "Truly is a sweet girl and I won't let you use her, you ass. Get out!" Heather marches over to the bed and starts beating Kade with the pillow, as Tru grabs her green dress and covers her chest with it.

"Fucking hell, wench!" Kade brings his arm up to block her blows as he pulls away from Truly and jumps unsteadily to his feet. "She set the course, not me!" Kade's deep voice reverberates loudly through the hall. "Lay off, Heather!"

"Blimey, Heather!" Truly grabs her arm with one hand to stop her from beating the shit out of Kade while the other keeps her dress draped over her bare chest.

"I told you to watch out for him. He's just going to use you and move on." Heather shoots him a glare and smacks him again. "It's what he and the rest of them do."

'Ring her bell, put the next Brovern in her and set sail.'

Kade tenses, her words like a slap in the face that rings too close to home for him. "Fuck you!" Kade's voice drops low as he casts Heather a dark look. "You don't know shit about me!" Grabbing his shoes off the floor, Kade storms off, pushing Lynsee out of his way as he goes.

As he steps out into the hall, he finds himself the center of unwanted attention. Around him, many of her sisters gather, some whispering to each other as others stand in their open doors.

They're condemning me. I'm just another Brovern to them, here to ruin a girl and leave her with my child.

As he flies down the stairs, more girls seem to appear from everything, setting Kade's nerves on end until finally, when he hits the entry, he can't take it anymore, and he storms off into the night.

Up in her room, Truly rounds on Heather. "What the feck is wrong with ye?! I'm of consenting age!" She takes her dress and pulls it over her head as she goes to chase after him. "And he did nothing wrong!" As she passes the girls in the hall, she shoots them glares. "The show is fecking over."

More concerned about Kade and where the hell he's going, Truly rushes down the marble steps and out the door, but he's already out of view. "Feck." She runs her hands through her hair. "Calm down, Tru." She coaxes herself and closes her eyes. "Amphitrite, hear me now. What's lost, I wish to find. Open me eyes t'at are blind. Direct me to what I seek. By fire, air, earth, and sea." Truly takes in a deep breath, feeling the energy around her as she chants over and over. Something pulls her towards the inner coast.

She's led to a rocky cliff with a stone path leading to a small, white sandy beach. Thankfully, her spell worked, and she finds Kade pacing angrily by the surf, his eyes on the dark horizon and not the dazzling lights of Lefan, Atlantis' central island. Giving the impression of an angry buccaneer eyeing the ship that's just marooned him.

"I'm right here!" Kade angrily bellows out into the sea, taunting the curses that suffocate his family and have for eighteen generations. "Come and get me, Davy!" Kade steps into the water, allowing the waves to crash against his legs as he throws his arms wide. "Or are you too pussy whipped you can't stand up against your own wife?"

When nothing happens, he runs his hands through his hair and paces.

"This is what you want, right?" He jerks his family's ring off his left hand and shows the deep set ruby off to the water. "This is why you've cursed every man in our family to forever wander and never find happiness in the arms of a woman, isn't it?! Because a Brovern had the balls," he grabs himself, "to force his way into your locker and plunder the heart. And just for kicks, he fucked your wife to boot!" Kade's deep voice roars out, so sick of the looks and the negative expectations everyone pushes upon him. "You want the heart back, well I got a few pieces of it right here! Come and take 'em! Come on, Davy!"

Truly momentarily stills, taken aback when she realizes he's a Brovern heir. It changes nothing for her; their stars are set, he's her fated, but if she thought convincing her daddy that she found her soulmate was hard enough, adding that the guy is a Brovern isn't going to make things any easier.

An unsettling feeling sinks in Truly's gut as she watches him tempt fate. "Kade!"

At the sound of his name, Kade tenses and whirls around. "Sink me, Truly." His eyes widen at the sight of her as he reflexively slides his ring back on. How much of that did she hear? As a wave crashes against his back, Kade jars forward and tumbles a bit as the water pulls at his feet.

Truly instinctively runs into the surf to help steady his dumb drunk self. She grabs hold of his waist with one hand and an arm with the other. "Have ye lost yer mind?"

"I'm good." Kade bites out, more irritated with himself than her as he shrugs her off. "Shouldn't you be at home guarding yourself against my kind?"

"Your kind?" Truly wraps her arms around herself. "Brovern, you mean?"

Kade stiffens, then reluctantly nods, his own last name confirming his worst fears. She heard everything.

"Ye tell me, Kade, should I be guardin' meself against ye?"

As if the sea's pushing him to her, Kade stares down at her from mere inches away. "Probably. I'm already imagining all the wicked little things I'd do to you in this surf."

Truly's hands slide up his arms, as a need to touch him overpowers her. "It's not te t'ings ye plan on doing to me t'at have me worried, Kade. It's te tomorrow t'at does. I don't want to be a notch on a man's belt, noh matter what he's last name may be."

"And how do I know I'm not a notch in your belt?" Kade's lip lightly curls up, his temper slipping out with the receding tide.

Her eyes roll at the thought. "I have an overprotective daddy, four older brothers and countless male cousins t'at hang over me shoulder and chase away any lads that dare to even talk to me. I don't even have a belt to notch."

Kade's eyes widen at the admission. She's gotta be the only lass our age on all four islands. Atlantean teens lose it young. Their cultures are too loose on morals and pro embracing their inhibitions not to. His eyes drop to her lips. "I think I just stumbled upon a treasure vault better than Davy Jones'."

A deep blush blooms on Truly's cheeks. "I shouldn't of said anyt'ing."

"You truly, truly should have." Kade's lip curls up as his hand finds its way to her hip. He dips his head, only able to resist her plump lips for so long. "But don't worry, I have no intention of sharing this booty." His hand drops to cup her ass. "Fuck the articles."

Truly jumps at his touch, but laughs. "T'at was bad."

"It's not the best play on words," he admits with a shrug, "but I'm a little distracted by the boon before me." His gaze travels over her, leaving no doubt what, exactly, or who is the treasure. "And I might have had a bit too much rum."

"Ye t'ink?" Her hands slide up to his shoulders and pull him closer, so she's flush against his body. "Ye almost had a full glass at the bar with me. I feel like I should take ye home and tuck ye in bed alone. Someone might t'ink I'm takin' advantage of ye."

Kade smirks. "Now you sound like one of the damn King's citizens. Are you sure you aren't one?" He quirks a brow.

"Aye," she chuckles. Her family's been on the island for over five hundred years. The damn island she's living on now is named after them. "I'm sure."

"Then call it what it is," he breathes against her lips. "And not one of their pansy little terms."

"Ye won't be mad in the mornin' if I seize te opportunity t'en?" Her lips pull up in a smirk.

"No." Kade softly chuckles. "Only that you beat me to it."

Taking advantage of how close he is, Truly captures his lips. When she pulls away, she takes his hand and starts backing out of the waves. "If we're going to do t'is, it's not going to be 'ere. I don't want sand in me privies, t'ank ye."

Kade quirks a brow. "What happened to taking me into your depths?" He playfully tugs her back towards the ocean.

"T'at song yer talkin' about is about sex not drownin' ye." she huffs. Her family's folk songs are often twisted into darker myths about sirens, since according to island myths, her family are almost full-blooded sirens.

A light laugh escapes Kade's lips as he heads out of the water with her in tow. "I'm aware." His eyes flick back to her. "I know when a girl is propositioning me and you very much were the other night."

"I was not! I was calmin' me pussy." She flashes him a mischievous grin.

Throwing his head back, a boisterous laugh fills the night's air. "I'd love to see how you calm your pussy down." Kade crudely rebuttals his heated look over his shoulder at her that drops intentionally down to her thighs as they climb the bluff tells her he isn't meaning Nutless.

"If yer lucky, maybe I'll show ye." Truly wiggles her brows, before dropping his hand and racing up the path ahead of him.

A grin crosses Kade's face, liking the fire in her spirit as he gives chase. When they reach the top of the bluff, he overtakes her, wrapping his arms around her before he hoists her over his shoulder, like pirates of old. "You missed your chance to flee into the ocean." He playfully smacks her ass. "Not that it's ever worked well on these islands."

"Where are ye takin' me, pirate? Are ye taking a chance with the wenches and bewitched rocks again?" Tru tries to brush her hair out of her face as she hangs upside down.

"Not a chance in hell."

"Are ye showin' me arse off to te world?" Tru tries to twist to see if her short dress is covering her bum.

He scoffs. "There's no one around yet to see this." His hand comes down on her underwear, making her jerk, as he proves her concern's justified. "What self-respecting pirate gives away the keys to their vault?"

"I don't t'ink I've ever heard self respectin' and pirate in te same sentence before." Truly quickly becomes aware that Kade is still shirtless after their first romp attempt. The view isn't bad at all. The way his muscles flex as he walks is almost hypnotizing. "Ye got two dimples above ye bum. Did ye know?" She pokes the two indents.

"Everyone has them." Kade slaps her ass in retaliation. As they reach the edge of the Greek row, he grudgingly lowers down, allowing her to slide against his chest so that her dress lifts, exposing her skin to his as she travels the length of his torso.

A shiver runs through Truly at the contact as her head lightly spins from being upside down. To steady herself, she grips his shoulders.

"Who's lost her sea legs now?" Kade's lip curls.

"Ye had me on me head too long." Her hands run over his chest once the world stops spinning.

"Let's hope you survive then, since I intend to have you on your back far longer, once we get back to my bunk."

Her cheeks redden as a shiver of excitement runs through her. "Let's hope for me black-hearted daddy, don't stop ye. He was offly concerned about Blaine demagicin' me." She gives him a look, showing him she knows he's the one that sicced Killy on her.

The idea of Kill caring who he sleeps with has Kade nearly doubling over in laughter. The Killian he knows is a carouser and a rogue who has a new woman nearly every night. It's about as likely to happen as the islands going straight and becoming loyal subjects of the crown. "If Killian Murphy's isn't balls deep with a woman and suddenly cares who I sleep with, I'll give ye the Black Raven and make you my wife. I'll even give you my word as a Broven."

"Ye could have left out the part about him bein' with a lass. Not an image I wanted in me head." Truly's nose wrinkles up as she follows him down Greek Row to Psi's house.

"You'd be one of the few." Kade shakes his head as he leads her through Psi's front door and to the left. When they reach the second floor, they run across several of his brothers, but they pay them no mind, having no interest in who another brings home.

"How are you gonna prove that Killy isn't going to come barging in?" Truly asks as they turn the second corner leading to the set of rooms that Killy took her to the night of the frat party.

"Like this." A smug grin crosses Kade's face as he strides up to Killian and Hayden's room and throws open the door, pulling her in with him. Within, Hayden snaps his head in their direction as Jenny gasps naked beneath him on the bed and tries to cover herself. "See," he gestures around their room, completely uncaring that he's interrupted Hayden. "No Kill."

"Fuck off Kade, and close the door," Hayden snaps, throwing his pillow at them.

"Me poor eyes." Truly steps back regretting asking for proof.

Closing the door behind him, Kade steps across the hall and opens his own. "What did I tell you? There's no way in hell Kill would be..." He freezes in place as a look of utter disbelief crosses his face. Just drown me in the depths.

"What?" Truly peeks around Kade to find Killian sitting on a couch beneath a raised bed with a ship's poster behind him. His arms are crossed over his chest as he stares at them both in unamusement. An amused smirk crosses her face as she holds her hand out to Kade. "Te deed to me ship, please."

Kade's stomach plummets as his eyes snap back to her. I can't lose the Black Raven. It's what sets me free.

"What the feck do you think yer doing with me baby unicorn?" Killian coldly demands as his eyes run over her swollen lips and just fucked look thanks to the fact Kade had her over her shoulder. "You demagiced her, didn't you?" His expression hardens as he stands, cracking his knuckles. "Nobody ruins a Murphy and gets away with it."

"Noh, t'ere was noh demagicin'." Sadly. "Ye should be happy t'ough. Kade and I are to be hand fasted." A playful smirk crosses her face as she glances up at Kade.

Kade's eyes slightly widen at her, not finding the humor she does in the situation, but he'd given his word as a Broven. His mother's image instantly comes to mind. I'm going to break my omma's heart by being just like the rest. He promised her as a child, he'd be different. He wouldn't make false promises or trap a girl like she was in a loveless marriage. Just send me to the fucking deep and let Davy take me now.

"Then do it now," Killian recrosses his arms as he throws Kade a look that says he knows he won't, and he said it to get in her pants. "Unless, of course, your word is shite."

"Oi." Truly frowns. "T'ose be fightin' words, Killy. We were just having a bit of a laugh. I was just jestin'."

"It's fine." The air around Kade changes as he closes the door, suddenly serious. "I gave my word as a Brovern." His flick to Truly before they return to Killian. "If she wants, we can do it now." And pray I don't break my omma's heart doing this.

Truly's head snaps up to him. "Ye jest."

The look on his face, though, tells her Kade's not joking. He intends to keep his word even if it was a jesting wager. Though he can't give her family's ship.

"Feck me sideways," she breathes out. "Ye are going to die." Tru mutters to herself. "Me daddy is goin' to kill ye. Yer a dead man walkin', lad."

"You can turn sail. The wager was mine alone," his eyes flick to Killian, unwilling to lose one of his closest friends over a girl, "but it's not likely our ships will pass again."

Truly shakes her head, trying to figure out how the night went insane until the word fate whispers in her ear. Ye don't question te tides. A sense of solidarity falls on her shoulders, t'is is what te fates want. "I'll go t'rough with it." There's no point in fighting fate. It keeps throwing them together, and it's not like she didn't think the universe would eventually bring them to this point, just not after two weeks of knowing each other. Truly's attention turns to Killy. "I suppose ye want it done right a proper t'en?"

"Aye. He'll just weasel his way out otherwise."

"I'd have to know how a blasted handfasting's done to weasel my way out. Not just the legalities that fall after the fact." Kade shakes his head as he plops onto his bed, cursing this night in his head, but resigned to his fate. "What's exactly needed for one?"

"I just need somethin' of yers. Traditionally, somethin' of yer families t'at I can permanently attach to te binding rope."

"Right." Kade pauses from unclasping one of the oldest pieces of the family's collection from around his neck. A simple ruby teardrop, marred and unclear, but the first stone removed from the Kraken's Heart by Drake Brovern himself. "I'll give you the pair to this." He touches the necklace around his neck as he moves off the bed to fiddle with something beneath it. The telltale sound of a lock dial tells her it's his modern day treasure chest, and when he removes a key from around his neck to finish the final mechanism, he confirms it. The sound of things shifting fills the air for a moment until he slams the chest's door shut and secures it. "You don't get older than these." He offers it to her. "Their Drake's, like my ring."

Truly's brows rise in surprise that he has the original pieces on him as she crosses the room she takes it from him. "Me family has its own traditions to be acknowledged, if in ye don't mind I follow t'em." Her cheeks grow to a light shade of pink. She knows he probably won't consider this hand fast real. He's just honoring his word. "Do ye have any ye want to honor?"

"Your traditions are fine and you don't want me honoring any of ours." He gives her a look meant to remind her of what Brovern men are known for doing.

"Right t'en. T'ere are a few t'ings I need from me room."

"Good luck getting those, Heather sent him." Kade flicks his fingers towards Killian, knowing that's what had to have happened. "It'll be like laying siege to a fort."

Killy scoffs as he shifts his weight. "Of course she did. What self respectin' mum doesn't let the father of her Sparkle know she was almost demagiced and by one of his own mates no less."

"T'en ye get to go get me shite, daddy." Truly casts him a sassy glare. "Go to me room and get a blue dress, and a small white box on the top out of me closet."

Killy rolls his eyes. "And let him demagic you while I'm gone?" He throws Kade an, I know you and the way you work, look. "I don't t'ink so."

Truly points over her shoulder toward her house. "I'm not goin' back t'ere to get me arse chewed out by Heather."

"Not even with the Black Raven." Kade flicks his eyes up at Killian, knowing what he'll ask. "Sacrifice your fucking pledge."

Killian nods. "Right...." But the look on his face says he's still not sure who that is.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Kade stands. "I'll go get mine." As he walks past Truly their fingers graze and for the briefest moment, the world feels right again. A few minutes later, Kade's voice booms from the floor above their heads. "Scott! Get out here shark bait. Yer going on account for me!"

Thirty minutes later, a baby-faced boy knocks on Kade's bedroom door, looking haggard and scratched. "Here." He holds up a pale blue dress made of silk with pearls and a white cotton woven rope with pearls, small gold medallions, and shells integrated in the weaves. "This is what you wanted, right?" There's an edge of fear in his voice, for Kade and whatever horrors he faced at Theta Sig as he hands the items to his elder fraternity brother.

Are you fucking kidding me? You paraded from her house with a damn three-cord in your hands? Anyone from here will know what's going on at this house, or worse, they'll accuse us of severe hazing. A look of unamusement crosses Kade's face, making his pledge take a step back. "Can you not follow orders? I told you to get to a fucking white box, not take its contents." He brings back his hand to backhand Scott.

Truly lunges forward and grabs Kade's wrist to stop him. "It's fine, at least he brought it."

His eyes snap back to her, and for a moment, they hold each other's gazes. "Fine," his attention snaps back to Scott, "But you're walking a fine line, shark bait. Gimme that!" Kade snatches the dress out of his hand and briefly eyes it to ensure the idiot didn't damage her dress before he hands it back to her. "If she finds you damaged either of them, your fish food, shark bait," Kade darkly warns.

"T'at's me formal." Truly lets out a sigh and takes the dress and cord from Kade. "I'm still wearin' the feckin t'ing to it."

"Is it good? Can I go?" Scott nervously shifts on his feet, unsure of who the girl is on the other side of his frat brother's door or if Kade will kill him.

Kade turns his head, his cognac eyes ensnaring her in silent question.

"Aye, it's fine."

"Get lost!" Kade lunges a bit after his pledge, sending the boy scurrying off before he slams his door shut and shakes his head.

Ignoring him, Truly lays the dress on Kade's bed and carefully weaves his pendant into the rope so that it dangles in the middle. Tru's attention turns to Killian and Kade. "Unless ye want to see a whole lot of me, ye best leave so I can get changed."

Not leaving it up to him, Killian shoves Kade in the back, hustling him out of his own room. "Come," Kade commands over his shoulder in Russian. Beneath his bed, Petals rises from her own and silently follows them.

Truly jumps slightly to the side, startled by the dog's sudden appearance. Once the boys and Petals are on the other side of the closed door, Truly trades the short green dress for the blue silk gown. The plunging back leaves her back wide open, and the deep cut does little to help hide her chest.

"Yer are a fickle t'ing, fate, but I'm trustin' ye t'at ye won't get him killed." Truly carefully adjust the dress and grabs the rope off the bed. "I'm dressed."

Stepping back into the room after Killian, Kade stills as his breath's briefly stolen from him.

"You look so pretty, my Sparkles," Killy gushes over her before he turns a sharp gaze on Kade. "You don't deserve her."

Probably not. Kade uneasily shifts on his feet, not sure of what's to be done. His parents were married in a church and the last handfasting for any Brovern was ten generations ago and it was merely a ploy to get a girl in bed. "What am I meant to do?"

"Ye could put a shirt on." Her eyes roam over his still bare chest, contemplating if it's necessary or not. "And ye are goin' to have to be closer. Goin' to be hard to fasten our hand with ye on te other side of te room." Truly takes a step closer and threads the rope through her hands. "We need to join hands and yer," she holds the rope out to Killy. "Goin' to have to wrap it around both our hands and wrists. T'en we say te vows."

Kade gives a small nod as he crosses the room for his closet nestled by the foot of Gideon's bed. Something dressier than every day. Not really having much that isn't casual, he selects a shirt he typically would wear for a formal event, a navy button-up shirt with three-quarters flared sleeves. Its neckline gives the illusion it's open. He slips it on and buttons it. When he turns to face her for a moment, he's reminded of what it felt like to see the Black Raven for the first time when he was a boy. He'd been intimidated for a moment, but there'd been a sense of exhilaration too. "Which hand?"

"Both." Truly takes his calloused hands in hers and crosses them over each other. "Now wrap te rope around us." As Killy does, Truly can feel her heart beating out of her chest. Though everything about this seems crazy and fast, it feels right.

"Do you know your family's words?" She whispers to Kade.

Kade raises a brow. "My family doesn't even have a three-cord." He lifts his fingers a bit to move the rope. "I know the family legends, our curses, and the articles pertaining to this, nothing more."

"Alright." Truly's throat grows dry. I guess we'll go with te genetic vows of te island. "I need paper and pen. We're supposed to say it tagether."

"Just tell me, I'll write it." Moving to Gideon and Kade's shared desk, Killy rifles around for a pen and paper, writing the generic vow she gives him so that Kade can study it for a moment.

When he's got it memorized, they both begin reciting it together. "Between the here and now. We tie this bond in the sight of the north, and south. With the blessing from the west, and east. By the winds, and waves, let no man break this bond. On the bones of our ancestors we place these curses."

Truly squeezes Kade's hands, prompting him to set his curse.

Kade's expression hardens. "The water is no safe haven for any fool who dares to steal from me. With this heart..."

The pendant against Truly's hand warms, drawing her eyes down to it as outside the winds around the island suddenly picks up, hitting the rocks in the nearby cove at just right angle so that an ominous clicking noise echoes in the breeze.

"The Kraken I release upon thee. Drag them down to Davies' depths and return what's mine to me." Kade decrees, cementing his family's curse within the braided cords that signifies their bond.

Truly trembles knowing her family's most feared curse. "May Triteia hear me prayer. Bring te sea to reclaim Amphitrite's pearl and drag it back to te morbid deep if any break t'is bond."

Feeling her quiver, Kade's eyes snap to hers, and the strength within his cognac eyes seeps into her.

"I swear to hold tight during the strongest of gale." They say together, holding each other's gaze. "I will stand with thee on ship or shore through life's mysteries. I promise you fidelity, compassion, and my sword as long as these bonds hold."

Outside, the weather suddenly changes and a strong wind makes the older house groan as a storm unexpectedly breaks loose overhead. Thick drops beat upon the window, drawing all their eyes to it.

Between them, Killy clears his throat, reminding them they're not done.

Turning their attention back to each other, Kade and Truly finish the last line of their binding promise. "We promise to be as true as the waves that brought the founding four."

Overhead a bolt of lightning cracks loudly over the house, lighting up the dark sky as the thunder shakes Psi to its foundation, making Truly duck as gawk at the ceiling. A torrential pour comes crashing down outside.

"Huh..." Killian's eyes turn upwards before they shift to the windows. "Was there supposed to be a storm?" His eyes flick to Kade, whose lips thin.

"No." Kade's eyes turn to Truly. "Is there more?"

Truly pries her eyes from the sheet of rain outside. "T'at's it. Our ancestors liked to be done with it quickly." The surrounding air is alive with energy, making her soul stir.

Killian snickers, knowing a bit about handfasting since he's Irish.

Kade turns a wary look at him. "What?" His eyes shift back to Truly, aware there must be a catch he won't like if Kill's snickering.

A deep blush grows on her face. "Te consummation."

"Aye, and I'd like ta boast," Killian proudly poses like superman. "I just did the impossible," he throws Kade a cocky smirk.

Kade glowers, aware he means he thinks he just succeeded in tying a Brovern down. "I'm flicking you off in my head. Untie us and get out of my bunk, so we can finally get to the deed."

"Noh, he can't tie it." Truly looks down at the ropes. "We have to stay like t'is til midnight t'en we slip our hands out."

"This is where I say goodnight." Killy grins at them both. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"And what the hell is that, eh?" Kade raises a brow as his eyes briefly shift to the clock on his desk. Five minutes till midnight.

"I don't drink shite beer." Killy gives them both a wink as he closes the door behind him, leaving them tied together.
