Chapter One - The Tranformation
Hi! Yeah, I'm writing this because I got the idea and why not. I was talking to one of my readers on another fanfiction and they said I should write this, so go thank them.
(Thank @panslytherin011 )
Enjoy!
-------------------
Harry woke up confused and tried to remember what had happened the night before. He wasn't at the Burrow, which was a little bit of a clue, but he still had no clue where he was or how he got there. He looked around and saw that he was in one of the rooms of 'The Leaky Cauldron' and that he was sleeping in the bed. The last thing he remembered from the night before was going into the inn and meeting someone, that someone was blurry in Harry's memory.
As if on que, someone came in and when Harry saw who it was, his jaw dropped and his eyes started watering. He watched the person like he was a ghost, but he was solid as Harry. Harry wanted an explanation, but was also afraid of what he might hear. His voice wasn't working, but he managed to muster the name of the someone whom had walked in.
"Cedric?"
"The one and only," he replied. "I will say this however, you were really confused yesterday.
"What happened?"
*The night before*
Cedric was sitting at a table with a cup of coffee hoping it would help him stay calm. He hadn't eaten in a while, but he wanted to hold onto his humanity so there was nothing he could do. The coffee didn't taste the same as it used to, but nothing tasted the same, everything tasted bland after the fateful night of his 'death', or undeath maybe. He didn't look as old as he actually was, he still looked seventeen when in fact; he was twenty-one. But what else could you expect from a vampire. (Yep, Cedric's a vampy and I think we all know why.)
Soon after he finished his drink someone he recognised walked into the inn. He was confused as to why they were in the building, but he wanted to say hi to at least one person he knew. When they saw his face however, they almost started crying like they just witnessed someone die. Cedric wasn't quite expecting that reaction, but Harry Potter was anything but predictable.
"Relax," the older bay said.
"How?" Harry asked," How are you alive? I watched you die."
"It's a long story."
Harry was still confused, but Cedric didn't want to cause a fuss and make a scene about the whole thing so he lead Harry to where he was staying. That's where Cedric explained what had happened after he 'died'. Once he had finished Harry was scared of the boy and this hurt him a great deal. He lost his hold on himself at the word monster and might've caused Harry to maybe start a possible turn. Cedric didn't want Harry to remember things that way, or to remember i at all and so he wiped his memory using compulsion. (Yes, from Vampire Diaries. I did mention I got inspiration from that and Shadow Hunters.)
Harry didn't remember anything and fell asleep right after fairly quickly. Maybe Cedric had done more than alter his memory. Either way, Cedric would be able to tell Harry a different story to what had actually happened. He just hoped Harry's experience would be different to his.
*The present*
"Well, you came into the inn, and then passed out after seeing me."
"Well," Harry replied, "how are you alive?"
"I don't know."
Harry wouldn't know this for maybe a few days, but Cedric had lied about that, and Cedric would grow to be a complete stranger. Harry could tell the boy wasn't being completely honest, and he hadn't aged a single bit since the Triwizard Tournement. It all confused Harry, but what confused him more was why his gums started aching. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't really feel safe around Cedric, and he decided he would head back to the Burrow and explain why he hadn't been there.
"I've got to go back," Harry was stopped by Cedric.
"Can you, not tell people that I'm, alive?" He seemed quite nervous about this.
"Sure?"
Harry hurried off still quite confused and uneasy, but he seemed weaker or, energy zapped after leaving the inn and going into the sunlight. He was confused by this as well, and his gums started to hurt more than they probably should. He guessed that he was a little ill because he was also paler than usual. His head also started pounding as he went to the nearest floo port. (Don't know what to call it.)
He eventually arrived back at the Burrow and he immediately felt better after seeing the comforting sight of the house. Hermione ran up to the boy and started to scold him for not coming back the night before. But, harry explained that he met a friend and fell asleep after a while of talking. Not technically a lie as fair as he knew. Harry was suddenly hit with hunger as though it was a bus and took an apple.
Hermione noticed he was pale and that it seemed to hurt eating the apple. It was strange, it would only hurt if he was having problems with his teeth or gums. Ron eventually came in and talked about how worried he and the rest of the residents had been. Harry finished the apple when Ron finished his rant and it didn't seem to make much of a difference for how hungry he was. If anything he was more hungry.
"Are you alright," Hermione asked, "you don't look so good?"
"I'm fine," Harry replied.
"You sure mate," Ron chimed in, "you're looking very pale."
"I'm just hungry..."
"You just ate an apple?"
"Harry," Hermione sounded worried, "your eyes..."
Harry was confused until Ron said something about them being blood read. Harry's head started to hurt as the memories of the night before flooded back and he gasped a little holding his head. He remembered Cedric explaining he was a vampire, he remembered calling him a monster, he remembered Cedric's eyes turning red, and he remembered being bitten. But after that, Cedric bit his own arm and gave Harry the blood with regret filling his gaze. The bite had healed and Harry passed out.
"No..." a realisation struck Harry as he realised what was going on. "It can't be..."
"What can't be Harry?" Hermione asked.
"Mate..." Ron spoke up, "what happened?"
"What's going on?" Ginny came down and asked rather loudly.
"Stop!" Harry yelled, "It hurts!"
"What hurts?"
All of a sudden the pain disappeared just as quickly as when it had appeared and he felt more hungry then before the head ache. He knew what his body wanted him to eat, but he didn't want to hurt anyone. Maybe the transformation would kill him if he didn't hurt anyone, but he didn't want to kill anyone else so that was a price he was willing to pay. He just hoped things wouldn't get desperate and that no one would get hurt around him.
"Are you okay?" Ron asked.
"Yeah," Harry replied, "I think I just need some fresh air..."
"I don't know..." Hermione started, "you looked like you were in some serious pain. I think we should take you to St. Mungos."
"I said I'm fine!"
Great, he would have an easy temper too, just wonderful. He didn't want to be around the Weasley's and Hermione in the state he was in, so he went outside knowing he'd feel really tired doing so. Ginny was more confused and Harry still felt more hunger than he'd felt in his entire life. He wanted more than anything to somehow stop the transformation, but they had never learnt anything about vampires in Hogwarts so they were probably considered wore than werewolves.
He sat outside and felt almost too tired to move and considered just sitting there until he died, not wanting to hurt anyone. But he knew all too well things would get worse and that the chances of dying before completing the transition were slim. he still wanted to try and fight the part of him begging to change fully into a vampire. But, there was a sudden burning sensation covering his entire body. He let out a disgruntled howl and Ron ran out to find Harry curled into a ball with red rashes covering all visible parts of his body.
He dragged Harry back into the house and laid him on the couch while calling out for Hermione and asking for some assistance. Hermione and Ginny both rushed in and saw Harry, but most of the rashes had healed and Ron seemed stunned and almost scared. Hermione thought for a few seconds before something ticked in her head. She had read about similar cases in a book about strange instances in the Wizarding World.
"Harry..." she sounded knowing and concerned, "what happened?"
"I told you -"
"No Harry, what happened really? Who was your friend?"
Harry groaned as his head and gums started to hurt more than they already were.
"Hunger, paleness, red eyes... Harry, are you aware of what's going on?"
It was cryptic and neither ron nor Ginny knew what she had meant. Harry nodded.
"Harry, who did you meet?"
"Cedric..."
Hermione, Ron and Ginny all felt their eyes go wide.
"He died!" Ron exclaimed suddenly catching on.
"Harry, is he - by any chance - a vampire?" Hermione asked.
Ginny's jaw practically fell to the ground and Ron was shaking. Harry once again nodded.
"Sh*t!"
"But, they don't exist," Ron sounded scared, "do they?"
"Wizards and witches have believed for centuries that they were merely mistaken cannibals," Hermione explained, "but then strange cases of people with weird illnesses came about and then they miraculously healed right after their doctors died."
"They're the product of the darkest of magic," Ginny finished.
"What happens, at this stage of the transition..?" Ron wanted to know.
"There's two outcomes, either they give in and drink human blood, or they die..."
"We can't let that happen!"
"Ron... it's Harry's choice," Hermione commented.
"Guy's..." Ginny cut in.
"What!?" The two said simultaneously.
"Where's Harry..?"
Harry was gone. He had left and went to 'The Leaky Cauldron' wanting, no, needing an explanation and a way to stop it. When he arrived he found a dishevelled Cedric Diggory rocking back and forth with Tom the inn keeper lying dead next to him. It took all of Harry's strength to not drink the blood from the corpse. Cedric started to mutter something to himself; 'You are not a monster, this isn't your fault,'repeatedly.
"How do I stop it?" Harry asked.
"You can't, it won't kill you like most think, but you'd be better off dead," Cedric explained. "It'll eat away at you, and the only way to stop it is to feed. You can't just kill yourself trust me, the only way to die is to feed, and then stake yourself."
"There has to be something."
"I'd just get it over with if I was you. You don't want to live an eternity of pain and suffering."
Cedric left, leaving Harry in a room alone with a bleeding body trying not to give in and 'feed' as Cedric had put it. Harry sat in the corner Cedric had previously been sitting in and waited to see if Cedric had been telling the truth. Harry's head started to pound and his heart rate quickened as the pain he had faced beforehand came back. He didn't want to hurt someone, but the man was already dead so it couldn't hurt. He slapped himself for that thought.
He curled into a ball and fought the urge to scream knowing the pain would intensify over time and he would slowly start to lose his sanity. In which case, he'd be more likely to give in and wouldn't be in has right mind after the transformation was complete. Cedric came back in with a cup and filled it with Tom's blood. He then came over and placed it in front of Harry.
Harry turned away and cringed at the urge to drink it. Cedric knew Harry was stronger than most and that it would take a while before he finally decided to drink it, so he picked the cup back up and forced it down Harry's throat. Harry drank, but he started to cry and tried to stop it, but he strangely enough liked the taste of the crimson liquid. He hated how much he enjoyed the taste, and he felt his teeth turn to fangs and he knew his eyes were probably red.
Once the cup was empty Harry returned to normal and Cedric took the cup away, dropping it soon after. (This is my idea, didn't come from any other books, movies or shows.) He felt a strange pain near his appendix and it grew in size and strength quickly forcing him into the foetal position. He was confused and didn't know what was happening. He didn't know what happened after becoming a sire though.
A Sire is a vampire that turns another, if that vampire had a Sire, their Sire would then become the newcomers Sire. It was a confusing process, but a Sire has no control and is almost possessed, they become someone entirely different and revert to nature. They become blood thirsty beasts and lose all sense of right or wrong, causing the image most have about vampires. It doesn't matter whether they weren't like that as a person, they can't fight it.
Cedric didn't have a Sire however. He had been buried at his funeral, but Death-Eaters decided they wanted a vampire on their side and brought him back using the darkest of magic to do so. The plan backfired when Cedric refused to do as they said and ran away. He had learnt some control, but lost to his urges now and then.
Of course, neither of the boys in that room knew of this and neither of them knew of the consequences it would have. The pain Cedric faced stopped and when he sat up his eyes were crimson red and he seemed a little confused. Eventually all specks of humanity left him and he became a true monster of the night. Only, Sire's could walk in the daylight.
"Cedric..." Harry sounded worried.
"I've never felt so alive," he sounded insane. "Guess I should've done more reading before I assumed things."
"what do you mean?"
"Turns out you lose all humanity after turning someone, isn't that interesting. Well, too late now!"
Harry paled more than he already had as the realisation struck him that he had in fact turned and that Cedric would most likely hurt more people. Harry got up and left not wanting to be around the crazy man any longer than he already had been. He went back to the Burrow, but he really didn't want to face the people waiting inside for him. The sun had set so he would be able to go outside, but when he arrived he was ambushed by Ron, Hermione and Ginny.
"Well," Ginny started, "did you..."
"It was force fed to me..." he sighed.
"Well, we're going to help you," Ron reassured.
"Thank you."
They helped him cope with his urges over the period of a few days. Harry was fine around people normally, but if they were bleeding they were screwed. Harry also noticed the urge was stronger with certain emotions like anger, lust, or just love in general. He hoped nothing terrible would happen, but he new that as long as he had help few people would get hurt at his hand. Or so he thought. He had no clue of what was to come in the year at school, he also had no clue about what Cedric was up to.
------------------
Hello again. I know the chapter was a bit longer than what you may be used to when it comes to my work, but it's probably going to be easier to write longer chapters in this and I'm trying to ease into longer chapters with my other works but that may not happen. If you're from Slytherin Skulls it might be a little shorter or around the same length, but yeah. Thank you!
