Chapter 68

Kaleb gathered dirty laundry from around his side of the room, pulling it out of more and more absurd places.
“How did you know?” MG asked suddenly, looking up from his comic book.
“That there were socks under my nightstand? I kicked ‘em under there a few weeks ago.”
“Not about the socks.” MG shook his head. “That you were into … Jed.”
Kaleb grinned. “That I liked Jed or that I liked guys? Because those are two different answers.”
“Guys.”
Kaleb picked up his laundry basket with a grunt. “MG, brother, I love you, but if you’re asking, you already know.”
“It doesn't matter anyways.” MG opened his comic book back up again, pretending to be distracted. “Landon’s gone, and he’s not coming back anytime soon. There’s no point in breaking Lizzie’s heart now.”
Kaleb pulled a face that said he knew how wrong MG was, but he also knew there was no way he could convince MG that he was, in fact, wrong. He just left with his laundry.
MG sighed and tossed his comic book to the side, done pretending like he was reading it. He needed a snack. That’s what would get his mind off of questioning sexualities and missing friends.
Coming around a corner, he spotted Hope. He was about to go up and thank her for her part in saving his girlfriend's life when he saw her staring at something at the end of the hallway. He followed her gaze and found Landon talking to Dr. Saltzman. Landon must’ve felt her stare because he looked up and met her eyes.
MG ducked back around the corner. “Shit.” He pulled his eyebrows together and pressed his head against the wall. “Shit.”
