“There’s someone out here.” Kaleb scanned the dense treeline, trying to catch a glimpse between the trunks.
“What do you mean?” MG said. “I don’t hear anything.”
“Listen.” Kaleb focused on the sound of breathing. It was faint, but there, and it was definitely human.
MG shook his head. “Nothing.”
“Man, you have got to lay off the bunny blood.” 
MG shoved his hands in his pockets and stood up straighter. “I think I’ll stick to the school diet, thanks. Maybe you should too. You know, save a cheerleader, suck a bunny and all that.”
“Don’t try and blood-shame me.” Kaleb walked faster as the breathing got closer and closer. “Look. It’s Landon.”
He sat on a thick layer of dead leaves, so spaced out that he didn’t even turn when he heard the two boys approaching.
“Landon?” MG asked. “What are you doing out here? It’s not safe. There’s a dragon on the loose and -” MG stopped and furrowed his eyebrows. He crouched down in front of Landon, waving a hand in front of his unseeing eyes. “Landon? Bro?” He looked at Kaleb. “What’s wrong with him?”
Kaleb shrugged. “Let’s take him with us to Dr. S.”
MG took Landon’s hands and pulled him to his feet. “Come on.”
