When MG saw Landon sitting at the end of the long hall, he almost ran towards him, stopped, and forced himself into a casual walk.
“Hey!” His voice came out squeaky and out of breath. He cleared his throat and tried again. “I noticed you weren’t at the assembly today -”
“Sorry,” Landon said, closing his notebook and smiling dryly. “I was too busy writing tragic love songs.”
“Oh.” MG swayed a little. “You know what would help you get over Hope?” His eyes widened excitedly. “Coming undercover to Mystic Falls High with us.”
“You mean … where Hope will also be undercover?” Landon raised an eyebrow.
MG's face fell. “Right.”
“But … I could use some time away from Rafael’s concern-face. And I do know the school better than all of you - no offense.” Landon looked up and smiled softly. “So, I’m in.”
“Cool.” MG’s face exploded into a smile, his cheeks barely able to hold so much happiness.
Landon fought his own goofy grin. “Cool.”
