Chapter 129
MG’s feet crunched over the dry leaves and twigs. He watched as Jed and Kaleb’s hands bumped together in their strides and Jed latched on, lacing his fingers through Kaleb’s.
MG cleared his throat. “Hey, Jed? How did you know when you had feelings for Kaleb?”
“I’ve been with Kaleb a long time,” Jed said, like he was reciting a script he’d written a long time ago. “I’m very happy and not looking for anyone else, thank you.”
Kaleb pulled a face. “He’s not asking you out, babe. He’s asking how you knew you were gay, and he’s just too nervous to say it.”
“Oh.” Jed looked taken aback. “Uh … I guess I knew when I liked a guy. I didn’t really question it. I don’t question most things.” He nodded like he was confirming it with himself. “I like to think of my sexuality as a river - free-flowing and … always wet?” He scrunched up his face as a weird silence fell over the ground while they stared at him blankly.
Kaleb finally broke the awkwardness, turning to look at MG. “Jed’s point is: you’re so hung up on labels when all you need to know is that you like Landon. Whether you’re gay, bi, pan, omni - ask the man out!”
MG smiled for half a second at the thought before it all came crashing down again. He cleared his throat again. “I think we should focus on finding leads on Dana’s killer.”
