Josie wandered into the kitchen, knocking into the bag of flour in MG’s hands. Her jaw dropped as she watched the cloud of white settle.
“Sorry …”
MG laughed. “It’s okay.” He set the bag on the counter behind him. “I was actually hoping to talk to you today.”
Josie raised her eyebrows. “About what?” 
“Are you … mad at me about the game?” he asked, clasping his hands nervously in front of him. “For siding with Lizzie?” 
“No.” Josie shook her head quickly. 
“Are you sure?” MG squinted. “Because you seemed really upset yesterday.”
Josie smiled wide. “I’m not upset with anyone about yesterday - including you.”
MG tilted his head back, deciding to try one more time before accepting her answer. “That comment about me always siding with Lizzie seemed a little … resentful.”
Josie kept smiling and shaking her head. “I’m totally over it.”
“Well, thank you, Jo. That’s very big of you.”
“It is.” Josie switched to nodding. “I do have to get going though. I just came to see if I could have a sneak peek of my cake, but it looks like you’re still at the beginning.” She eyed the empty mixing bowls.
“It’s going to look amazing!” MG said, face lighting up. “I know I haven’t started yet, but I already know exactly how I’m going to do it! Lizzie’s side is going to be chocolate and it’s going have little frosting roses -”
“What about my side?”
“Red velvet.” MG grinned proudly. He knew both of the twins’ favorite things, and his cake was going to be perfect. “But the decorations are a surprise.”
“Well I can’t wait to see it, MG.” Josie gave him one last smile before she left him to finish what he started.
