O N E

I just want to give a HUGE thank you to lunarladie for giving me ideas and practically helping me come up with this entire sequel. They should write. Anyways! This is the sequel to Burn so if you haven't read that yet, go check it out! It's only like seven chapters with each chapter having 1,000 to 3,000 words so you should be able to finish it lickity split.

Onwards!

SINS-CHAPTER ONE; Reunited and it feels so good.

HYDRA BASE, SOKOVIA

"How do you even pronounce this country?" Cain grumbles into comm links as he combusts another HYDRA soldier. Everyone ignores him and the demon glares at a soldier that just shot at him. "Oh that's it, you son of a bitch!" Cain growls, stabbing the man in the throat before ripping off his head then rubbing off the blood on his pants.

"Language!" Captain America scolds the father of murder. Cain raises a brow, taking out two more soldiers. "Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?"

"Dunno, never got past the pearly white gates." Cain jokes, getting ignored again. Except for Tony, who snickers.

"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Strucker's technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken." Jarvis answers Cap in his robotic British accent. Cain curls a lip in disgust, never liking how much technology had evolved. He missed the medieval ages. Sure, there was no plumbing so shit was literally thrown out the window and onto the "sidewalk" below, and humans were even bigger idiots... but Cain loved being an executioner. He missed it.

Cain gives a wistful sigh.

"Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defense without it. At long last." And that's Thor's Shakespearean accent cutting off Cain's day dreaming. Cain stops short when a blast of energy from a HYDRA soldier's gun flies inches in front of his face. Cain blinks as he slowly turns to see that it hit a tree burned a hole into the wood... the tree is now dead with no way to regrow. Cain's eyes follow the tree as it tumbles down.

"Uh oh." Cain barely registers Tony's voice before the demon screeches at the stupid soldier and starts slashing the foolish human. "Reel it in, tough guy." Tony calls, effectively calming Cain some. Cain sighs and moves on through the forest, spotting the HYDRA base ahead.

"At long last is lasting a little long, boys." Natasha drawls, sounding bored out of her mind. Cain vaguely hears her grunt with the sound of flesh hitting before a quiet thud is heard.

"Did you do the thigh thing?" Cain asks with a hopeful tone as he flips a HYDRA vehicle over with a wave of his hand. He hears Natasha sigh.

"Yes." She replies simply.

Cain grins. "Awesome."

"I think we lost the element of surprise." Hawkeye calls, nodding in thanks to Cain when the demon takes out a soldier sneaking up on the archer. Cain winks with a thumbs up before spinning and rushing at Hulk.

"Hey Mike Wazowski!" Cain yells, gaining Hulk's attention. "Help a demon fly!" Cain leaps and Hulk smirks as he grabs the demon, then like a pitcher, pulls his arm back and throws Cain forward like a fly ball. "WOOHOO!!!" Cain shouts at the top of his lungs as he comes in hot on a tank and completely obliterates it. Cain wheezes as he slowly stands up again, cracking his neck, and giving Hulk two thumbs up.

"Wait a second. No one else is going to acknowledge the fact that Cap just said "language"?" Tony asks suddenly and Cain grins, chuckling.

"I know." Cap whines, flipping off his motorcycle and chucking it at a jeep, flipping it over. "Just slipped out." Cap admits in a whisper. Cain smirks.

"And is that the only thing slipping out?" Cain calls teasingly.

Iron Man continues to try and enter the base only for the city to start shooting at him too.

"Sir, the city is attacking." Jarvis informs Tony.

"Cain?" Tony calls and the demon nods, teleporting to the city.

"On it." Cain says as he stands up onto a crate. "Alright, listen up-EVERYONE GET OUT OF THE CITY NOW!!!" Cain shouts over everyone. The people glare at him and Cain sucks in air. "YA skazav, vyydy z mista! My ne khochemo zhertv (I said, get out of the city! We don't want any casualties)." Cain repeats in Ukrainian. He's lived for over billions of years, of course he picked up different languages. There's not much else to do when you don't eat, sleep, or age.

"Mesnyky ydutʹ dodomu (Avengers go home)!" The crowd starts to chant. Some man throws a stone at the demon, hitting him in the face. It bounces off like a ball but it had the effect of irritating Cain.

"YA namahayusya ne vbyty tebe. Tak osʹ (I'm trying not to kill you. So leave)!" Cain growls and when someone goes to throw another rock at him, his eyes flick to pitch black. "Ne treba (Don't)." Cain hisses. "ZALYSHATY (LEAVE)!!!" Cain exclaims and now everyone starts leaving. Cain sighs. "Should've done that in the first place." He grumbles to himself before leaving the city and heading back to the fight.

Cain feels something head towards Clint but-

It hit already. Cain teleports to Clint's side as the archer gets up to hit whatever hit him. Cain tackles the archer down just as a HYDRA bunker shoots at them. Cain teleports them away to safety.

"Someone wanna take care of that bunker!?" Natasha asks as she rushes over to make sure Clint is okay. Hulk smashes through it. "Thank you." Natasha calls sweetly as she looks Clint over.

"I'm fine, just my ego was hurt." Clint replies, waving Black Widow's concern off. Cain and Natasha roll their eyes but get back in the fight. Tony manages to get rid of the protective shield around the base.

"Drawbridge is down, people." Tony calls in a chipper tone.

"The enhanced?" Thor calls, speaking to Steve. Cain searches for whatever it is he felt but doesn't feel it nearby. Or maybe it's disguised.

"He's a blur. All the new player's we've faced, I've never seen this. In fact, I still haven't." Cap replies and Cain gives him an  overdramatic offended look. Cap smiles at Cain. "Except you, Cain." Cap adds just as HYDRA tanks start to approach and Thor looks at them with a grin.

"Take Cain and Stark and find the scepter, we'll take care of the tanks." Thor comments to Steve, an acceptable plan.

"What the hell does HYDRA want with Loki's scepter?" Cain asks suddenly.

"For gosh sake, Cain, watch your language." Tony calls teasingly, making Cain grin and Cap groan.

"Right. Sorry, Cap. You gonna punish me later? Give me a good ol' spankin'?" Cain teases next and Cap sighs, following the other two into the base.

"That's not going away any time soon." Cap grumbles to himself. Once inside the base, the three go their separate ways to cover more ground.

As he's walking, Cain feels a presence approach him. A wave of telepathic energy hits Cain but the demon deflects it as if it were nothing but a fly. Cain slowly turns with demon eyes, spotting a brunette female in maybe her early twenties. Cain smirks at her maliciously.

"Sorry princess, but my mind is much too dark for you. So, do us both a favor and stay. Out." Cain orders, pushing back at her with a telepathic wave of his own. She gasps at the sheer power before disappearing in a blur. "There's two enhanced, guys!" Cain reports to the others. "A telepathic one so be on the look out for mind games." Cain adds.

With confirmation that his warnings were heard, Cain moves on. A few minutes of searching later and Tony calls through the comms.

"Thor, I got eyes on the prize." Tony states and Cain huffs a sigh.

"About time." Cain grumbles, heading out.

AIRCRAFT, HEADING OUT OF SOKOVIA

Natasha huffs a small laugh when she sees Cain's head loll over and fall onto Clint's shoulder. Tony was flying the jet and everyone was just relaxing after the mission. Even though he was a demon-one of the oldest ones at that-Cain sometimes liked to sleep. He even ate too-although, food has lost its taste to his demon palate. Anything to look human.

Feel human.

He had taken that from him.

Knitted brows are accompanied by a troubled scowl as memories begin to plague the demon's dreams. Memories of the smell of rotting flesh from each body that expired from his wear and tear. How cold it felt to leave each host. Becoming that empty smoke that haunted on, looking for its next meat-sack. Out of everything that came with swapping out bodies for the newer model... Cain couldn't decide on what he hated worse: the anguished screaming from the poor bloke he shoved himself down their throat, or opening fresh eyes to see the empty husk he left behind.

Cain's eyes snap open and he looks around quickly, loosening some when he recalls where he is. He sniffs as he rubs back and forth in his seat, scratching his back.

"You alright there, chief?" Clint calls playfully. His eyes, however, show concern. Cain nods, avoiding the eyes. He hated that look. Worry. Pity. Sorrow... despised it.

"I need a drink." Cain grunts.

"JARVIS, take the wheel." Tony orders as he stands from the pilot's seat and walks over to where the rest of the Avengers are. He pats Cain's knee as he takes a seat to the demon's left. Tony winks at Cain before facing Thor, nodding at Loki's scepter. "It feels good, yeah? I mean, you've been after this thing since SHIELD collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties, but..."

"No, but this...this brings it to a close." Thor replies, a relieved smile tugging at his lips. Cain's right brow quirks up when he realizes Tony has yet to move his right hand from his left kneecap. Cain becomes even more confused when Tony starts mindlessly drawing shapes into the knee with his index finger. A jostle of the leg snaps Tony out of it and the human removes his hand and folds it with its mate in his laps.

"As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when is Strucker capable of human enhancement?" Rogers cuts in, a thoughtful look on his face. Cain rolls his eyes.

"Maybe the ankle biters are mutants. Ever think of that?" Cain hisses, the sudden confines of the jet making him feel boxed in. Like hell...there was no elbow room. Just-

All of a sudden, a memory flashes across Cain's mind and before his very eyes, the jet shifts into a cold room. Bodies hang from racks with their pleading eyes boring into Cain as he sits and stares. A blink and its gone. Cain shuts his eyes tight.

A hand to his knee brings Cain back.

"Hey, you okay?" Tony asks the demon as he studies Cain, giving him a once over. Cain nods shakily, exhaling slowly and subtly.

"Yeah... just hungry." Cain replies. It was a lie. He knew it. And glancing at Natasha told him she did too. There's a granola bar in his face and he slowly looks up to see it's Bruce who's offering it. The right corner of Cain's lips twitch up and he takes the offered snack, then munches on it as he sits back in his seat. "Thanks." He grunts.

"Banner and I'll give it the once over before it goes back to Asgard. Is that cool with you?" Tony asks and when Thor nods, the billionaire grins. "Great! I'll have Dr. Cho prepare our toys." Tony states as he stands and heads to the pilot area. Most likely to contact Cho. Cain's only met her once, so doesn't really have a firm feeling towards her just yet. She seemed alright though.

AVENGERS TOWER, NEW YORK

Maria Hill walks up to Stark as the Avengers walk into the hangar of the tower.

"Lab's all set up, boss." Maria informs.

Tony points at Rogers. "Uh, actually, he's the boss. I just pay for everything, and design everything and make everyone look cooler." Tony sassily counters, dancing around Maria and making his way to his lab. Cain smiles at Maria and offers her a nod in greeting. She returns both before addressing Rogers.

"NATO's got Strucker." Maria reports.

"The two enhanced?" Rogers inquires and that's when Cain stops his retreat and eavesdrops a little longer.

"Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Orphaned at ten when a shell collapsed their apartment building. Sokovia's had a rough history. It's nowhere special but it's on the way to everywhere special." Maria answers immediately, pulling up holographic pictures of the twins.

"Their abilities?" Rogers asks next and Cain rolls his eyes, breaking away from the two and making his way to the bar where Natasha already poured him a glass of bourbon, clean. He nods his thanks and downs the liquid. Cain can still hear the conversation happening about five feet away as Maria and Rogers continue to walk through the tower.

"He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neural electric interfacing, telekinesis, mental manipulation." Maria lists. Cain chuckles at Rogers' sudden silence.

"He's fast and she's psychic!" Cain shouts across the room. Rogers waves at him, letting Cain know he's appreciative. "He's pretty, you gotta try not to scare him with Tony-speak." Cain warns Maria teasingly. His comment earns a sharp look from Steve-The-Mom-Rogers and a lip-biting-grin from Maria. Cain blows Rogers a kiss, downing the next glass of liquor Natasha ninja serves him. By ninja serves; he means she appeared out of thin air, refilled his empty glass, and disappeared again.

"Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth," Cain whisperingly sings to himself as he pulls a pack of Marlboro cigarettes from his right pocket and lights one up by snapping his fingers. He inhales the small stick before leaning his head back with closed eyes and releasing through his nose. "Oh, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide."

I

t's not completed yet, but I wanted to get it out yet. It's almost done. Just a little more.
