Suckers Game

I won't give her the satisfaction.

Her teeth sink themselves into the skin of my neck and I do everything I can not to scream. The blood starts flowing from my neck again, triggering the weakness in my limbs and the swimming feeling in my head that has nothing to do with alcohol.

She doesn't deserve the satisfaction of hearing me scream. She's a nobody... less than nobody. If she wasn't in the middle of sucking the life out of me, I wouldn't be giving her any thought at all. I'm barely thinking about her now. She doesn't deserve it.

Doesn't matter how much she bites me or scratches me or punches me, I won't give her what she wants. She doesn't deserve to get what she wants. She's not worthy.

She deepens her bite as she's done several times, before letting go with a satisfied breath and pulling back. Sitting back on my thighs, she drapes her arms over my shoulders as I struggle to stay conscious from the loss of blood.

I won't pass out... I won't pass out... she doesn't deserve to have me pass out... I won't pass out...

"You know, I have to say, you taste really good Dawn."

My head starts to roll back and forth to try and keep from passing out but she grabs my head and forces me to look at her.

"I mean, not that I have much experience in the whole blood department... I've only been a vampire for a couple weeks so far but you definitely taste different. You don't taste like anyone else I've eaten. You taste... sweeter. Like your blood is special or something."

"I think the word you're looking for is better. I taste better than other people, and there's a reason for that."

She licks her lips in anticipation.

"Really? What's that?"

"Because I AM better than other people."

The smile on her face widens as she lets go of my head and stands back from me. Her vamp face disappears in the process.

"You think so do you?"

"I know so."

"How's that?"

"Because most people are pathetic. They go around complaining about their problems and feelings, thinking that it matters. Doing everything to care about each other and thinking that everyone's going to be sympathetic, but they're not. They're selfish and greedy and only really interested in what other people can do for them. They're just in it for themselves."

"So that's what you were thinking when you asked me out. You didn't really want to get to know me. You just wanted to get in my pants."

"Of course, what else is there?"

"Love?"

Oh my god, did she really just say that?

Her ridiculous statement has me laughing out loud.

"Love? Really? You think what people want is love?"

She hits me with a right cross, throwing my head to the side and making the chair I'm sitting in wobble before I turn my attention back to her.

"Why not? It happens every day."

"You must be new at a lot of things, not just being a vampire. Love actually doesn't happen every day. That's just what people like to tell themselves to make them feel better. It's an illusion."

Again she hits me in the face and I can feel my bottom lip split at little as the blood starts to flow. She starts to pace back and forth in front of me.

"What the hell do you know? You're just a cynical bitch."

She really is naive.

"And how do you think I got that way? Magic? The reason I'm saying this is because it's true. I've been there. I know what love is supposed to feel like. I tried it, and the truth is it's just a sham. A fairy tale that people tell each other to justify all their misery. It's pathetic."

Another punch hits me, this time in my stomach and I lurch forward but being tied to the chair keeps me where I am.

"You're the pathetic one. Your love hating ways got you tied to a chair and tortured by a vampire."

It's sad that she doesn't see what's right in front of her own face.

"And why am I tied to this chair? Because of you. You and your stupid hope about love and finding someone to spend your life with. Then you found out the truth and what did you do? You got angry and decided that torturing the only person who isn't lying to you and actually has it in them to tell you like it is makes sense. How's that working out for you?"

"Pretty good actually. I've got you tied up don't I?"

"Exactly... you've got what you really want. All your idiotic ideas about love and finding someone brought you here. They made you into what you are. A pathetic, sad excuse for a vampire who wants to hurt people for fun."

She closes the gap between us, grabbing me by the chin with one hand and squeezing.

"I didn't make myself into this. You made me into it. You and your selfishness got me killed and made me into this. You did this to me."

There's a long moment where we just stare at each other.

"Feel better?"

"What?"

She lets go of my chin.

"Do you feel better? Does it make you feel better to blame me for all your problems?"

"I'm not blaming you. You ARE the reason for my problems."

"Fine, keep telling yourself that."

"You got me turned into a vampire."

"No, the idiot who turned you got you turned into a vampire. Which... by the way where is he exactly?"

"What?"

"The idiot who turned you? Where is he?"

It takes her a moment to answer.

"Why?"

"I want to thank him."

"What?"

"Thank him. I want to thank him."

"For what?"

"For rescuing me from you. If I'd actually gotten in your pants, you would've gotten all clingy and wanted to be my girlfriend or something. I never would've gotten rid of you. I probably would've had to kill you myself just to get some peace."

A slap hits me in the face.

"Thanks for that. I was about to fall asleep but now I'm more awake."

She's about to hit me again but stops, not sure what my reaction will be.

"So?"

"So what?"

"Where is he? Your sire?"

A long, drawn out silence follows for a while.

"Dead... he's dead."

"Really?"

"Yes..."

"Well I would've committed suicide too if I'd realized what a huge mistake it was turning you."

"HE DIDN'T..."

She stops herself from lashing out, taking a minute to calm down.

"He didn't kill himself, he was staked by someone."

"You killed him didn't you."

"What?"

"I said you killed him."

"I didn't kill him."

"But you caused him to die. You were such a bad vampire that you tripped and accidentally staked him. It's okay, I know you didn't mean it."

"I DIDN'T..."

Again she stops herself from lashing out, calming down.

"He was killed by some guy from the college. Connor, or something..."

The wanna be actually killed a vampire without screwing up? Well at least he's not a total idiot.

"So you're alone? That's too bad, guys love watching two girls go at it, which is something I found out is actually true recently. Good to know I'm learning SOMETHING in college."

"What are you... why do you have to be such a bitch? The more you say? You're making it hard for me not to want to kill you."

"Well at least we have that in common then, because the more you talk the more I wish I wasn't tied to this chair so I could kill myself. There's no one coming to rescue me and you've drained me of so much blood I probably couldn't escape if I wanted to. You're going to kill me anyway, so no matter what I say, I'm dead. I figure I might as well enjoy myself before I die."

"Enjoy yourself?"

"It's actually kinda fun watching you freak out whenever I piss you off. But then you start babbling and talking about your feelings and I want to kill myself again. So just get it over with."

"What?"

"Get it over with, kill me."

"What are you..."

"Come on, kill me."

"I..."

"You want to, I want you to so why not? Kill me."

I start squirming in the chair, doing what I can to move around and throw off the balance of the chair so that the legs come pounding on the floor when they fall back.

"Do it... come on, do it! Kill me! Do it!"

She isn't sure entirely what to do.

"I.. I'm... what..."

"Kill me! Don't be a pathetic vampire. Show me you're a killer and KILL ME!"

She rushes me in a rage but all of the sudden, a crashing noise is heard from somewhere else, making her stop and focus on that. The sound of someone moving around and getting closer gets louder.

"What the hell are you waiting for? Just do it!"

The chair falls over in a thud and there's a blinding pain from the fall. I don't quite see what happens but whoever was coming attacks the pathetic vampire. A punch sends the vampire far away. Suddenly, there are hands on my tied hands and they start untying me.

Damn it... who the hell is this?

Only halfway untying me, something stops him and the sounds of fighting are obvious.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Name's The Destroyer, or as some like to call me, Connor. I killed your sire."

More fighting and I start to finish the job the wanna be hero started.

He keeps doing this. He keeps trying to save me. What the hell is wrong with him? I didn't ask to be saved and I don't want to be.

I get the ropes off my hands and then try to block out the pain all over as I try and get to my feet. Turning to the fight, I see them trading blows. Despite the pain, I get up to a standing position just as the pathetic vampire gets in a lucky shot with the wanna be hero and sends him flying.

"Hey..."

She turns to me.

"Are you going to kill me now or what?"

She vamps out and runs at me. I open myself up to her as she wraps her arms around me.

"Goodbye Dawn."

She tilts my head to the side and her teeth sink themselves into my neck again. The blood starts flowing out of me again and I feel the weakest I've ever been.

I should probably tell her.

Things start to get blurry and fading.

"You are a terrible vampire. You barely managed to kill me. I've known better vampires and you don't deserve to be one. You might have been a stupid human, but at least you were mildly interesting. You're better off being human."

A fuzzy tingly feeling comes over me all of the sudden as I can feel my heartbeat slowing down finally. A white light burns my eyes before everything goes to black.

Screw you bitch.
