Roommate Problems

So what do I do?

Rummaging through my drawers, I look through what I have.

There are so many different options. So much to choose from. It's hard to choose just one.

I pull out a black and a white shirt with both my hands and look at them, trying to decide which to go with.

I can have a lot of fun with either of them. Do so much...

My eyes fall on the black top and it makes me throw the white one over my shoulder onto the floor with the rest of my discarded choices.

It definitely feels like I should go with something darker. The opportunity to have a lot of fun with something darker is too good to pass up.

A warm and fuzzy feeling comes over me as I keep staring at the black top.

But... not sure that I'm ready for that just yet. I don't want to go too far too fast and end up doing something stupid.

The thought makes me take a deep breath and smile. Then I throw the black top over my shoulder.

Better to go with something less obvious for now.

I pull out several other options from my drawers and give them a passing glance before throwing them over my should too. Eventually, I pull out a grey top that's halfway decent looking.

Hmm... this isn't that bad. I can work with this.

Holding it up to the light, I try and see if I missed anything.

I can definitely work with this.

I turn away from my dresser with the shirt in front of me.

It might not be quite as fun, but it's still going to be fun.

I take my shirt in hand, opening the hem and put it on. The feel of it on my skin is soft and inviting. Rolling my shoulders to get it feeling right, I settle in. Then I look down to my legs.

Now I just have to figure out how to finish my outfit.

I turn back to my dresser, close my shirt drawer and open up the pants drawer, starting to go through it.

I need something that says fun but dangerous. Because that's what I am now. That's what I can do. I can be fun, or I can be dangerous.

I pull out a pair of dark green and a pair of beige pants and hold them up to look at them.

But what exactly does that look like? Is it green or beige? Neither feel entirely like the best color for either fun or danger.

I toss both on the floor. I start going through the rest of my drawer.

Of course, I'm not entirely sure what kind of fun or danger I'm going to have. There are so many options to choose from with that too. So many terrible things that I could fix... or make worse if I really wanted to. How do I choose?

The waist of one of my pants brushes the gauze on my palm, giving the skin under it a tingly feeling and a little bit of pain.

"Damn..."

Letting go of everything I grab my taped up hand with my free one, living out the sensation.

And how much is it going to cost me?

After the pain and tingly sensation die down a bit, I look at my slightly bloody taped up hand.

Turning that idiot back into a human nearly killed me, but turning her back barely took anything at all. Of course, I didn't know that I could do it the first time. It didn't take much to do that teleporting or portal jumping or whatever it was that I did. Maybe now that I know, I can do whatever I want with it.

I go back to digging through my drawer.

But how would I go about testing it?

Eventually I pull out a pair of blood red leather pants.

Perfect...

Moving so I can see it better in the room light, I take a second look.

There's just something poetic about wearing something this good looking at a time like this.

I start to put them on just as the door to my dorm opens up. My roommate walks in with a happy look right up until she closes the door and sees me pulling my pants over my thighs.

"Dawn..."

I almost don't even have to look at her to see the frown on her face.

But I look at her anyway and I can't help but smile knowing that I'm right.

"Hey Cindy..."

The disappointment turns to anger and that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

"Seriously Dawn? You can't even muster up a little bit of respect for me after what you did? I would've thought sleeping with you would give me some respect from you."

Wow, she makes this way too easy for me.

"Well I would, if you were anything close to a good lay. But this whole clingy 'I want respect' thing you're doing right now is kinda tainting the experience for me."

The pants finally hug my thighs and I pull them out a bit to make it work better when I pull them higher.

"Clingy thing? Really? Basic respect is clingy?"

All I can really do is shrug.

"If it looks like a fuck... I mean, if it looks like a duck."

She glares at me as my pants finally get themselves around my hips and I do them up.

"Look, you're going to have to move on from all this. It's getting really annoying."

"Well I'm sorry if you intentionally ruining any chance of me and Connor getting together is annoying. Clearly this is all about you."

Finally!

"Now you're getting it."

"God you know, you make me wish I'd never met you."

That makes me scoff.

"You and me both Cindy, you and me..."

Wait... could I actually do that?

I turn to look at my accidentally brilliant roommate.

"How would you like to make that a reality?"

She gives me an angry and annoyed look.

"What the hell are you talking about Dawn?"

"Would you actually want to forget me if you could?"

"Wow, you really have gone crazy haven't you?"

"I'm serious. What if I could make it so that you never had to remember that I existed? Would you really want that?"

My roommate rolls her eyes at me.

"Sure..."

I grab the gauze around my hand and pull it until it comes off.

"Great, let's do this then."

She watches me, confused about what's going on.

"What are you doing? How did you get that on your hand?"

I turn back into my drawers and fish out the knife I keep in there.

"Why the hell do you have a knife in your drawer? Has that been in there the whole time we've been living here together?"

"What does it matter to you? You're not going to remember any of this in a second."

Putting the knife against my still healing palm, I can't help but smile.

Okay, let's test this out a little bit at a time.

With just the tip of the blade, I cut into my palm ever so slightly and bleed a little.

"I need you to forget about what a bitch I've been to you since you walked in here."

My idiot roommate looks at me weird for a second before smiling and turning into the room.

"So what do you have planned for the rest of the night?"

Did that really just happen?

"What do you mean? Didn't we just talk about that?"

"Talk about what Dawn? I just walked in here."

She really doesn't remember?

"You don't remember what we were talking about just a second ago?"

"Were we talking? I'd think that would be hard with me just coming in."

"Never mind, I'll probably just do some more drinking like I normally do."

"You know, you really should get out of that habit. It's not good for you."

Not this again.

"I need you to be okay with it."

"Well, you know, whatever. It's your life. Do whatever works for you."

"You're not angry at me? I'm not throwing my life away?"

"Why would I be angry? It's your life. Who am I to tell you what to do with it? If you want to drink, that's your choice."

Oh my god, this is really working.

I take a deep breath, enjoying what I've just discovered.

Okay... there really are limitless possibilities.

"I need you to get over the whole Connor thing."

I squeeze my fist where I made the cut and blood keeps coming.

"In fact, I need you to forget about him completely."

"Forget about who?"

Wow, did this really work?

"Connor."

She turns to me from what she's doing with a confused look on her face.

"Who?"

"You don't remember Connor?"

She thinks about it for a second.

"Doesn't ring a bell. Then again, it's not like I've met anyone you know. You don't talk about yourself at all."

A smile comes over my face.

"Never mind. He's not important."

Or maybe...

"In fact, I'm not important either. I need you to forget about me when I'm not around."

"Sure Dawn, whatever."

Hmm, well... that's going to be harder to test, obviously. But I'm guessing that the wanna be, my idiot sister and her bitch of a business partner will be coming around eventually. That'll be the best time.

I look around, mindlessly, not sure what I'm looking for.

Speaking of which, I should probably get out of here before they come fumbling in making a mess of things.

"I'm going out."

"Whatever."

I go into my closet and grab some of the gauze that I used to wrap my hand before my idiot roommate came in and wrap it around my newly bleeding hand, securing it in place. Grabbing one of the jackets on the floor that I threw there earlier, I stuff the rest of the gauze into my jacket pocket and put it on. Then I head for the door. Opening it, I leave for the front entrance to the dorm without a second's thought.

There's so many opportunities with whatever this thing is that's happening to me. So many things that I could change. But where do I even start? I made that loser human again from a vampire. Could I turn all vampires into humans again? Could I make it so that vampires never existed at all? And what about other demons? Could I make them go away as well? What about people who don't exist anymore? Could I make them exist again?

Could I actually bring people back from the dead? Not exactly sure how that would work or if it was even possible. Maybe I should test it out first? Do something smaller, less obvious. Like I did with my roommate but a little bigger. I could try finding a vampire somewhere and making him disappear or become human again. Last time was an accident, this time it wouldn't be.

I make my way out the front entrance and look around.

All I have to do is find someone.

"Dawn? Is that you?"

I turn towards whoever just called my name.

Who the hell is this?
