Año 3020 en la tierra. Después de un ataque alienígena, en el 2020, por parte de la raza llama los Akria, quienes han conquistado planetas por mucho tiempo, trataban de conquistar el universo de la tierra. Pero gracias a la ayuda de otra raza alienígena llamada los Alluas, la humanidad y otros planetas lograron salvarse y poner resistencia al imperio de los Akria. Y para combatirlos absolutamente los Alluas construyeron siete dragones mecánicos capaces de destruir todas las fuerzas de los Akrianos. Estos dragones se construyeron gracias al poder natural de los Alluas y de los elementos esenciales del planeta, que serían: Fuego, Rayo, Hielo, Agua, Tierra, Energía y Viento, y sus pilotos son Kai, un mestizo mitad humano y mitad Akriano, Jay, Zane, Nya, Cole, Lloyd y Morro, quienes se convertirán en los nuevos defensores de la galaxia.
