Stern mouthed as it is,
carved on your skin.
Crawls up your neck,
to a noose akin.

Securely tightening
as the twilight sky too bleeds.
The altar you’re on goes crumbling
and the pastel clouds all recede.

The dream is done,
and now you’re on your feet.
You thought with the sun,
you could compete.

But at the end of the day,
much to your dismay,
the sun too must drown.
