Sinners

In a world where common appearances masked extraordinary depths, Violet Grace Davis emerged as a wonder child, unlike anyone ever witnessed before. Her path seemed destined for greatness, yet her heart yearned for independence and self-discovery.

Even at the tender age of 11, she graced the pages of magazines and newspapers, having risen to become one of the most exceptional chess players in her town. Her strategic brilliance was unmatched, leaving her defeated opponents bewildered and unable to comprehend her daring moves. Whispers among her rivals claimed that she would deliberately sacrifice her pieces to disorient her opponents and secure victory, relying heavily on psychological tactics.

Amidst the swirling rumours that surrounded her, a single lingering question remained: What was the reason behind Violet's abrupt retirement, transforming her from the youngest female chess legend into a mere memory?

The answer lay in a pivotal moment when Violet decided to finally challenge a male opponent, having only played against other females until then. Her confidence shattered when she realised who she was playing against. All the knowledge she had accumulated seemed to vanish in a matter of seconds, and Violet became the catalyst for one of the most significant question marks chess enthusiasts had ever seen.

However, her return to the spotlight was sparked by a desire to recapture the thrill of victory. Her comeback was immediately announced, as well as her participation in the US Open.

Yet, one detail was missing, and that was her reason, her inspiration... the youngest and most exceptional female chess player in the United States, ELIZABETH HARMON. The redhead had shattered the notion that women were inferior to men in the game, rekindled Violet's belief in equality and respect, and brought back her passion for the game.

She was determined to shed the old stereotypes ingrained in her mind by her family, but there was one thing that had been sitting in her way ever since she had quit.

And that was Benny Watts, the self-proclaimed genius and esteemed grandmaster.
