PROLOGUE
"I can't wait to see you Y/n, we're going to have so much fun together" you heard Jisoo squealing through the other side of the phone.
"Yes, I can't wait to finally be there" you sighed while packing your last pair of trousers in the suitcase.
"I'm actually so nervous; I don't like being on such long flights, guess I'll need to pack some extra sleeping pills".
"You'll be fine, don't be so dramatic. When will you be here?" Jisoo asked.
"I already told you a couple of days ago, my plane lands at 7pm" you sighed again sitting on the edge of your bed, exhausted. You've been packing and preparing for days now.
"Fine, we'll pick you up then; love you".
"Love you too Jisoo".
You looked around while sitting on the edge of the bed; your room felt so empty, unfamiliar, cold.
Suddenly you realized that you've managed to fit your entire life in two suitcases as a shiver ran through your spine.
This is it you thought, this is the day I've been waiting for so long.
You've been preparing for your trip to South Korea for months now.
Everything happened so fast you remembered; from the day you decided to move to South Korea and leave your country for good to this day, the actual day of your departure.
You recalled your conversation with Jisoo; the one among many other long phone calls between you two.
You were growing tired of your life; the monotony, life expectations and the people around you were suffocating you. You wanted so much more from life, you felt you deserved more.
"I want to try more, I want to feel more...everything life throws at me I'm ready to experience" you exhaled, turning on the side while clenching on your pillow.
"Y/n it's 8 am in the morning here" Jisoo yawned "And it's Sunday".
"I want to see places, travel all around the world; meet new people, experience different cultures" you continued, not caring for Jisoo's pleadings.
"Then come to Korea" she said.
"What? Don't be ridiculous Jisoo" you uttered in disbelief.
"I'm serious Y/n" Jisoo persisted.
"I can't come to Korea".
"And why is that? You've been lamenting for months now; you hate your life there, you said it yourself".
"I didn't say I hate my life, I-".
"Listen" you heard Jisoo's sleepy voice fading away as she became more alert "You can come here and live with Jin and me for a while".
" I don-"
" You are a grown, independent woman with a master's degree" Jisoo interrupted you again, "you are a hard worker, you've been independent for years now, you speak five different languages including Korean might I add" she emphasized " you've been single for quite some time now, you're debt free and you want to make a change. Give me one good reason why you shouldn't come"
"Well I..."
"Or are just going to invent more excuses?"
" It's not that easy, I'll need a job, an actual place to stay... it's not an easy decision"
you shook your head.
"We'll find you a job, with your knowledge it will be an easy thing, don't worry".
She then said something that made you question everything.
"This is your chance Y/n, do something with it".
"On behalf of Korean Airlines and the entire crew, I'd like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future. Have a nice stay in Seoul, South Korea".
The soothing voice of the flight attendant gently woke you up. You looked out of the window as a million flickering lights welcomed you to the capital.
You gasped quietly while admiring the view, the sight was truly mesmerizing.
This wasn't your first time in Seoul; you came a couple of years ago with Jisoo during your University days but this time it felt different. This wasn't just another tourist destination anymore, this was a place you'll eventually call home.
A quick last passport control later you rushed to the gates, unable to contain your happiness anymore. Soon you were going to see your best friend after such a long time.
It's been years since you've seen each other. Sure, you talked frequently but it wasn't the same; you haven't seen her in so long you were ready to squish her face and cover her with kisses.
You also couldn't wait to finally meet her boyfriend. Jisoo and Jin were dating for almost two years.
She always spoke fondly of him; the way her eyes would light up every time he'd come up in a conversation made you understand how much she loved him. Their relationship was so pure and harmonious it made you a little jealous: you've never experienced something similar and questioned if you'll ever find your Jin.
As the gates opened your eyes started to roam the crowd in search of Jisoo.
You saw a tall, handsome man holding a sign with your name on in. Cautiously, you started walking towards the guy, still searching for your friend.
Before you could say anything to catch his attention you heard a scream as a small figure jumped from behind him.
"Y/n!" Jisoo shouted making everybody turn.
You could feel your cheeks turning red as you timidly waved your hand. Damn her and her extraversion.
"Jisoo" you smiled while embracing her. She hugged you tightly, not letting you breathe.
"Oh my God, I can't believe you are actually here" she cupped your face.
"I know, it took so long to come I started to believe I wouldn't actually arrive" you smiled at her again.
Then your eyes landed on the man standing awkwardly beside you two. He was still holding the sign with your name on it while observing the scene.
"Hi! My name is Y/n" you reached for a handshake.
"Hi, I'm...ahem" he cleared his throat "I'm Jin, nice to meet you".
"Likewise Jin, I've heard so much about you" you responded through a smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry guys: Jin this is Y/n, Y/n this is Jin" Jisoo said pointing to both of you respectively.
" yeah... I think we got that Jisoo but thank you anyway" Jin said.
"Oh shush you!" Jisoo slapped his torso lightly "I'm so happy Y/n is here I don't know what I'm saying".
"How was your flight?" Jin asked you while grabbing your bags.
"Thank you Jin" you smiled letting him help you " It was fine I guess, I took me forever to come" you sighed " the worst part was waiting for the connecting flight in Dubai, I had a window of six hours".
"You must be tired" Jisoo added " Jin wanted to take us to the restaurant where he works but I told him that you'll probably be exhausted".
"Yes, I am sorry guys" you apologized.
"It's fine, we'll order pizza and stay home tonight" Jin reassured you with a soft smile. "You'll meet the bunch another time" he then added.
"The bunch?" you raised an eyebrow.
" Oh my God yes, I can't wait to introduce you to everybody" Jisoo exclaimed joyfully.
"But that can wait, you're mine for the time being".
